Best oasis-related album since BHN. By a mile I'd call it the most listenable. It stands up as a whole in a way that the later Oasis albums don't and it isn't the absolute soul vacuum that is NGHFB. I think higher points were reached on other albums though.

Although I do think While The Song Remains The Same is one of Noel's most affecting songs, and absolutely in the same league as some of the best things he's written post-Be Here Now.

Yeah, While The Song Remains The Same is great, indeed. My second favourite NGHFB track, after the gorgeous Alone On The Rope. Talking about CY, I only listen to 3 songs regularly anymore: While The Song Remains The Same, The Right Stuff and You Know We Can't Go Back. I still like Riverman and The Dying of The Light but it's been quite some times since I have listened to these ones.

Man, what was Noel thinking not including Alone On The Rope on his debut?... Large sections of that album are so dismal and grey, and yet Noel manages to make one of his most beautiful recordings ever, and he just doesn't bother putting it on there! Let's All Make Believe all over again...

I totally get why people love the track, but for me I never got the hype regarding Alone On The Rope. Much prefer A Simple Game of Genius when I think about it

The only 2 songs I find myself going back to are While The Song Remains The Same and The Ballad Of The Mighty I and I'll tell you that's not often!
Still like all the songs a lot, but I never have the urge to listen to them.

Could and should have been the closing track instead of the quite poor "Stop The Clocks".

But I think Let the Lord Shine a Light on Me is better than both songs.

The production is one of the best Oasis-related projects. So clear and lush like the beautiful intro to You know we can't go back and lovely touches like the fade into Ballad of the mighty I. Amazing to think this was the same guy who produced the mess that is Heathen Chemistry

I reckon the production of TDOTL totally ruined it tho. the original acoustic version was excellent

Noel sounds better when he's going for a more modern approach.
- In The Heat of The Moment - Ballad of The Mighty I - You Know We Can't Go Back - Lock All The Doors - While The Song Remains The Same

It's good but NGHFB is the better album by a mile. It's just special.

Worst Noel Gallagher album to me.
That doesnt mean it's not good, i like it but the songs are way less good than his past offerings. Also prefer some bsides to albums tracks although Freaky Teeth was kinda missed in the studio. And there The Ballad Of The Mighty I which is a shame for a songwriter like Noel. Worst song he's ever done, cringeworthy with all the cliches a songwriter can put into a song.
