Good album to listen to. However, I find myself getting a little bored by the time Dying Of The Light is half way through and it doesn't pick-up again till The Mexican. In The Heat Of The Moment Lock All The Doors While The Song Remains The Same (on a good day, sometimes I do get very VERY bored on a playthrough) You Know We Can't Go Back Ballad Of The Mighty I Them are the only ones I will listen to in the future I feel. The rest just drag in some way or other. Never understood the love on this forum for The Right Stuff. I absolutely detest it! I feel the same about The Right Stuff. Really boring. Tries to sound jazzy but it just tries. And BOTMi its a great song. I just love the fading away mini solo at the ending. Its a small part of the song but its HUGE to me. Heard it live last year in Madrid and it didn't sound well. I mean except for Noels vocals,he nailed that. But the song just needs one guitar and the solo live. And he refuses to sing without the guitar, which its a shame..

It's a great album, and actually better on repeat listens than his first one, which weakened in the second half of the album. I find it has grown on me more since I first bought it, and every single song on the album is solid.
It's probably Noel's strongest album since BHN.

It's in my Top 3 Gallagher related albums for sure. I love pretty much everything on it. I actually find myself listing to Noel more than Oasis these days.

For me it's the first two Oasis, Noel's two, and maybe SOTSOG as that was a brilliant time to be an Oasis nut. Later Oasis, Beady Eye, rarely listen. Can't wait for Liam 1 and Noel 3! Liam is still my hero mind.

The more I listen to the album, the less I like it. I still love "While The Song Remains The Same", which is the best track on there for me, but I almost never listen to the rest. Don't get me wrong, Riverman, You Know We Can't Go Back and The Dying of the Light are good tracks, but I never feel the urge to listen to it. On a melodical point of view, I think NGHFB and CY are pretty even (I prefer the production on the second), both have their strength and their weaknees but the gap of quality with just the 90's b sides is more than consequent. But I'm confident for album n°3, it will be the best of his solo albums .

Listened to it again today and really enjoyed it - it's a very good album. Get better songs in at tracks 3 and 8 and it'd be a great one.

The Girl With X-Ray Eyes is alright, but The Mexican could go. Do the Damage is a better rocker and is less mid-tempo than The Mexican. The Mexican would be a better B-side rocker and good live track, a la Freaky Teeth.

X-Ray Eyes is definitely my least favorite song from the two HFB albums combined. It's not shockingly bad, it's just a bit of a dull, derivative plod. I skip it almost every time.

It's between The Mexican, In The Heat of The Moment, The Ballad of Mighty I and Stop The Clocks for me. Especially the first two,in the top 5 Noel worst of.

I still feel that The Right Stuff was great until the vocals kick in. Should've left it an instrumental and cut the run time to around 2 minutes.

CHASING YESTERDAY
1. Riverman 2. In the Heat of the Moment 3. The Girl With X-Ray Eyes (David Holmes Rework) 4. Lock All the Doors 5. The Dying of the Light 6. The Right Stuff 7. While the Song Remains the Same 8. Do the Damage 9. You Know We Can't Go Back 10. Ballad of the Mighty I That'll do me. I wouldn't even be happy with the Girl with X-Ray Eyes re-work. Just get that song off that album in general.

I like the rework - the solo has less impact, but that ambient outro is gorgeous and the "oooohhhh"-ing adds a nice sense of beauty to the melody. David took a stodgy song and made it into something different, clear, and with some experimental touches - let's hope that's a sign of things to come .

For me it's a good solid album. Riverman is a bland opening track though.

For me it's a good solid album. Riverman is a bland opening track though. Do The Damage should have been the opening track. Get rid of The Mexican, then have the rest of the album be tracks 1-7 and 9-10, and you've got an even better version of an already really good album.

I still love it. I'd replace 'The Right Stuff' and 'While the Song Remains the Same' with 'Do the Damage' and 'Freaky Teeth'
'The Mexican' is very underrated.

I was definitely excited the most to hear that song when the track list was revealed. Had a cool title. I believe oasisdna heard the album early and said it was one of his highlights. I dig the solo but for me overall it was just ok. Not digging the beginning of the tune.

I still love it. I'd replace 'The Right Stuff' and 'While the Song Remains the Same' with 'Do the Damage' and 'Freaky Teeth' You're a weirdo. You'd replace the two most forward looking things Noel has probably ever recorded with two of the more standard issue fare.

I listen to this album the way I listen to Sgt. Pepper*: I like all the songs, but I'm waiting for all throughout the album is that last incredible track.
* Not that I put the album up there with Pepper, mind you.

The rockers from this album sound so flat and dull recording wise (Lock All The Doors, Can't Go Back, Do The Damage, Freaky Teeth, The Mexican) - I liked the live version of Freaky Teeth but it's lifeless with the version we got.
Add to the fact that Noel's vocals aren't interesting enough to sustain these tracks (not so much with Oasis as a poor recording would often be redeemed by a stunning Liam vocal) and the end results are just tunes that are really boring in my opinion.
