yea its missed the boat now, shouldve been the rocker of HFB 1 imo, it needed it but in comparison to most songs on CY its abit of a plodder and doesnt go far enough, if he was to release it now it would need changing up abit and worked on. but overall it sounds fine like it is, theres not much point in going back to it unless hes going to guest Liam on it. I like the song, and it's riff is brilliant. But it's another mid-tempo track. Oasis at their peak were never so lethargic, and it's something that continues into Noel's solo career. I don't get this obsession with some fans wanting more of that kind of thing. It's bizarre and it would only shackle Noel and make him fade into complete irrelevance and obscurity. Core fans would dig it, but only in the way that core Status Quo fans still give a shite about the hilarious Bula Quo album. Everybody else? Ach, nobody would give a fuck about Noel anymore. Which is why he needs to produce something exciting. Desperately - because if massive fans on a fans forum are getting tired of the same old, same old, then he's in trouble. It happened with Beady Eye on here, regardless of whether you're a fan or not, once you are losing your target market, then you're in serious shit. Noel needs to move away from plodders, definitely, hes got too many of them, thing is though, when you think about it most of Noels sung songs in oasis were plodders, it was mainly Liams tracks that were the faster, louder and more energetic tracks. Noel is in position now where hes released 2 successful solo albums so should just say "fuck it" and do something new and fresh but hes SO petrified of releasing another BHN or SOTSOG that wont go down well, he just does the same thing. its like call of duty, yea you can stick with that successful formula and it will last for a while but eventually people will get bored with no evolution.

I'm glad Noel takes his time to write. I hope it's to come up with great melodies and a great new sound. The most important part will always be the melody for me though. You can have the best production possible but if you have 10 average songs...

I would be OK with Come On Outside as a b-side. It need some more work. Saving it for a possible Oasis album would be the worst thing to do (I read it somewhere on this forum).

I still really enjoy Come On Outside. Would have worked perfect on DOYS. Especially with Liam doing the vocals. Noel will release it eventually. Not worried.

Come On Outside definitely needs to be on the next album, if only to settle the cloud/cow debate.
(It's definitely cloud btw).

Seven of the eleven tracks on A Moon Shaped Pool were known to fans before the tracklist was revealed. And I still think Cut a Hole should have been on there... I'd almost forgot about that "uptempo" quote from David. Very, very encouraging. Does anyone know how many songs Noel has previously wrote in non-4/4 time signatures? Part of the Queue and ... I dont know What else.

Regardless of which story is true, it wasn't lack of quality that made Noel hold it back. I get your sentiment of preferring to hear "new" material, but we've only heard COO already because we illegally downloaded a version that was leaked without Noel's consent - it is perfectly reasonable for him to release it properly to his wider fan base I think! And there's space in an album cycle to release it (whether on the album itself, as a bonus track, b-side, on an EP etc.) while still releasing plenty of genuinely new material. X

Which David Holmes track would you like LP3 to be influenced by, besides I Heard Wonders? For me, I'd like some moody, bass-y sounds like Kill Her With Kindness. Probably won't happen with the uptempo, fun, rock 'n' roll album that's been suggested but I'd like just one track in that vein.

I'd just listen to The Holy Pictures - that album is immense, in a minimalist way. Also, I really quite like Snake Eyes from his Ocean's Thirteen soundtrack. There's some cool rhythms on that album. And let's not forget how cool his rework of X-Ray Eyes was. But yeah, I think most can agree The Holy Pictures is his best work. If you just want the highlights: 1. I Heard Wonders (Story of the Ink) 2. Love Reign Over Me 3. Kill Her With Kindness 4. Hey Maggy 5. Ballad of Sarah and Jack 6. The Dogs They Are Parading

Come On Outside is not very good. The same is true for the rest of the unreleased songs from that session.

About LP3 direction, I want more far out psychedelic sound. A Simple Game Of Genius, Let The Lord Shine A Light On Me, Gas Panic ! etc. That's the right stuff. I hate so much What A Life, In The Heat Of The Moment, Do The Damage & Ballad Of The Mighty I. All horrible shitty dance songs. Reading he reached the highest note he's ever sung scares me. And Come On Outside touches me one without moving the other.

One of the bonus tracks will almost certainly be called "N. Wind", and the other starts with "S". Most people think this will be Spectre, but others have speculated Skirting on the Surface as Spectre has already been released in two forms.
