Noel played in Vorst Nationaal in Brussels yesterday. This morning an interview has been broadcasted. Here (around the 02h12m mark) you can find the interview -lots of dutch talk in between but there are quite a few pieces where Noel's talking. He mentions that David Holmes is the producer of his new record. He has written 7 songs already and recorded 5 songs so far. On one of the songs he has sung the highest he ever has. (Higher than "Loving You" from Minnie Riperton ) Also some smalltalk about Kompany and Kevin de Bruyne. Thoughts?

Everybody guessed it ages ago, but it's nice to have it confirmed. Really looking forward to the album.

Have no idea who David Holmes is, but more encouraging than him getting Sardy in, or just doing it himself again, I guess.

I'm curious now: does anyone know what's the highest note Noel has sung in his head voice (i.e., no falsetto) on a record?

Never heard of him either. What's his best work? This is one of my favourite songs of the last decade: And the album he's just released with Unloved ('Guilty Of Love') is a real joy as well. Would definitely recommend it. Noel's new record should sound well produced if nothing else.

Cool! So he's got a three-octave vocal range. Not bad at all. It's funny that the first high note that came to my mind was the one on BOTMI, and it's almost a full octave below the highest one.

I understand fuck all of this site and octaves. Isn't the highest note on Let There Be Love?

His face when he says "I've been fooking high" lol.
Why all the secrecy for months only to give it away to some random Belgian dude?
(Peace to the Belgians, but I thought he'd save this announcement for the album launch or a major magazine or something)

(Peace to the Dutch, but I thought he'd save this announcement for the album launch or a major magazine or something) I wonder why he decided to keep the producer a secret in the first place. It's not like he was recording an album with Yoko Ono producing and Darth Vader playing bagpipes.

No, that was on the AA album ;-) Maybe given all the albums he's announced that then got cancelled he wanted to keep this collaboration secret until he was happy it was working and was definitely going to be released?

I thought Gaz looked familiar, but never would have guessed it was Yoko wearing a fake moustache. Are you implying that Noel is capable of learning from his own mistakes like the rest of us human beings? That opinion is not going to go down well with a few people people on this forum.

If it's the same producer, David Holmes did the score and music for the oceans trilogy, could be interesting.

Would be cool to hear a good song from Noel in that vein (I don't hold TSOTL in particularly high esteem).

Not sure if that sound fits the song he usually writes, but the new ones maybe... the songs will have to be strong though coz Noel cant put an album of 11 eleven dancey tunes, his voice sin't strong enough for those.
