Sometimes I wish the roses werent so secretive about this kind of stuff. Same, but it keeps that air of mystery around and makes things exciting. But I feel something is just coming on the horizon, this time, since the reunion gigs. No way (I mean come on) they just decided to get off their asses and tour again for some cash, especially since they're heading over here to the states. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

This is from the NME, so take it with a pinch of salt... Are The Stone Roses Releasing New Music This Friday?
First it was Noel Gallagher, who in October 2015 told Soccer AM that The Stone Roses were "blooming". Then it was the Roses themselves, who put up a load of posters, containing 16 lemons each, all over Manchester, to tease their live return in 2016.
And now, Guardian journalist Ben Green has sparked a wave of new speculation by tweeting the since-deleted cryptic message "SR040316". Not cryptic enough, apparently. Fans writing on dontstopforum.co.uk have since twigged that this could mean an announcement – or even a new release – from the Manchester band on Friday, March 4.
Could it be an album? An EP? Could it be a load of new shows? Could it be a festival date? Twitter seems to think it’s an EP, mainly because the EP rumours have been knocking about for a few days now, and this would fit with those.

That Banjaxer guy I posted the tweet from earlier had previously said that Ethiad gigs were happening, and it was confirmed a week later. Now he's been deleting tweets and posting cryptic stuff. Another band called the Wholls on Twitter posted that the March 4th EP-whatnot is coming. Right now, it's abunch of hogwash but abit exciting! Not keeping my hopes up too high though.

Any truth in these rumours then you reckon?

Any truth in these rumours then you reckon? It's looking more false as today goes on. That guy on twitter changed his tune and said "hope there's new stuff soon". I'm sure if something is announced tomorrow, probably just warm-up dates or a new festival/gig slot.

Reminds me of the days we were meant to be getting that Record Machine EP back on the DOYS tour. That all came from nothing and I'm sure there was a 100 page thread on it.

Imagine if the Stone Roses actually released new music... Can't see this happening to be honest as it would have been announced at 09.00AM if so.

Record shop in Manchester heavily hinting at it. It was all these sorts of places that had the lemon posters up on the day of the June gigs announcement wasn't it?

Whose to say the song won't be dropped at 23.59...... 29 minutes to go folks! Crazy that they didn't officially release anything saying "It's not true" etc. Just still silence. Like a quiet, desolate battlefield, on the western front during World War 1.

As much as I love the Roses I think it really will harm their credibility if they just play their old songs again this year. I was adamant we'd get something yesterday but the complete silence really unsettles me.

Cock teases.
That's what the Roses are in 2016.

You gotta hand it to them - they really don't need to pay for PR. Social media and the Internet gives them enough free promotion.
I agree unfortunately @rfb - no new tunes means no risk taking whatsover as well and dampens my feelings as a fan. What's alarming is the number of younger fans on twitter who were saying they don't want another album. Why? You afraid it won't live up to the original? Of course it won't! The debut was gold, and tough to follow - even if I love Second Coming it's no where near the magic of that debut. I hope they aren't trying to play it safe with new songs - if Squire wants to be put in a 2-3 minute crazy Jimmy Page like guitar solo, have at it!

Sure! It would be just sad to see a bunch of 50 year olds playing the same old songs they wrote 30 years ago in a studio and not record any new material. But sometimes the truth is pretty disillusioning.

You know the Roses obsession with religious analogy and all that - might drop something on Easter.
For a very long time, there has been no doubt in my mind concerning a new album. They've always taken years to make an album, even their debut took a long time. It doesn't make sense to build fans hopes up by refusing to deny rumours, and Ian Brown was usually prolific as a solo artist before the reunion. The fact he hasn't released music since 2009's Stellify suggests he's been up to something, in addition to the fact Mani was always active out with the Roses too, yet we haven't heard a peep from him either. Granted, if they are not releasing new music, it would be the biggest kick in the balls any fan has received from a band.
But it's got to be a matter of when, not if.
