I liked Ian Brown's consistency with releasing solo albums, and they have always been solid albums IMO. Unfortunately, whatever the Stone Roses release will always just be compared to their first album, which I think is unfair. I mean, Love Spreads is a brilliant song for example. If they do release a third album, I hope it will be received without having to be compared to their debut.

Good Times is a bit Led Zeppelin-style overload, but everything else sounds very textured. Begging You is one of the highlights and sounds way ahead of its time. Aside from that, Daybreak is in my top 5 favorite TSR tunes, and it's just a jam with nonsense lyrics. Aside from those, Tightrope and How Do You Sleep are amazing and in my opinion just as good as there debut tunes. You can't really attach that hard-rock stigma to them like the other songs and they're undeniably top.

From the NME: As previously reported, the band have been spotted at Paul Epworth's Church Studios in Crouch End, north London. One fan stated on social media that the group told her that new music could be coming "before June", however both Mani and John Squire allegedly denied this by telling another punter in a pub nearby that they were merely "rehearsing for gigs". It is worth noting that Church Studios is primarily a recording studio, not a rehearsal space.
NME took a trip to the studio in North London on Wednesday night (March 23) where Reni (real name Alan Wren) eventually turned up outside to pose for pictures with fans and sign autographs. When asked by NME if the band were recording a new album, he joked: "I'm recording," before adding: "I can't tell you anything because I'll get my arse kicked".
However, a representative for the band has now replied to NME's request for a response to the reports, saying "There's no comment. Sorry not to be more help."Source: www.nme.com/news/the-stone-roses/92503

I'm slightly nervous (well, not actually nervous, like being sat on a night bus opposite a meth addict nervous, just turn of phrase nervous). When you wait decades to release a follow up album, it's got to be super super good. An average album will not be good enough. And the risk of it being shit is high.

All I know is it isn't going to be terrible, but people need to stop comparing the latest stuff to the debut. That cannot be captured again and shouldn't be. It's all about moving forward with your sound. I'm just glad to hear new music.

Now was that so hard, to give the long-suffering hardcore fans a small morsel of positive information? As I am late to that party as well, I don't include myself, but I am very much looking forward to anything that might come.

Will believe it when I hear it. Still not convinced that they're not just trolling everyone. That clip of Ian Brown telling people they're making glorious new music sounds like he's taking the piss.

The Japanese gigs were taken off the website and when you try and buy tickets it takes you straight to the refund page apparently. Its all but been confirmed by someone in the know. I've got all this from there forum. Still hope its not right thopugh

It's now summer (best day of the year so far), there's gigs to be played so new music HAS to be on the horizon. Even if it's shit, it will be fascinating to hear.
I'm a fan, though not an uber-fan to be nervous about the prospect, so I'm willing to for them to bring it on. Just pray it's not Led Zep influenced this time around.
