I must say it was refreshing to hear a new single for the first time with entirely fresh ears. No teasers or anything beforehand. Those anticipatory few seconds of silence after Annie Mac introduced it were something else. I really had absolutely no idea what to expect.
Just a shame it's such a throwaway tune. I hoped they might have come back with something a bit more sophisticated than that. Something that demonstrates a bit of progression.

Solo is right out of Three Ring Circus.
Can't get anymore Beady Eye song than this.

Finally had a chance to give the new single a listen. To my ears it sounded like a Roses cover band. It's not bad but it's certainly not very good either, it's just in the middle. I guess in my mind (like many of you) wanted some killer grooves like Fools Gold or I Wanna Be Adored. I guess the past is the past. Hopefully future material is slightly better. Hard for bands to recapture that glorious magic from 20 years ago.

Boring! Like the Roses doing PYMWYMI: good riff, good vibes, great solo, yet ultimately rendered bland and forgettable by a mechanically repetitive structure. Except PYMWYMI is more enjoyable that this half-written thing. But what can you expect from a band that had already lost its charm by 1994?
Back to Radiohead it is.

The production is nice, but the tune itself is quite... bad, the lyrics especially. Weird because the Stone Roses always had good tune on their two records.
The guitar bits are still awesome, as always, maybe a bit too repetitive.
Agree to whoever said it sounds like a cross between the Seahorses, Beady Eye, and i'll add Hurricane #1.
All in all, let's hope the rest is better.

Exactly. Very generic melody, sounds a lot like Liam's tunes.

Ach it is was it is - a decent wee throw away pop song. It won't change the world but it's certainly not as bad as some folk on here are making out, each to their own I suppose though. I'm just glad they've put out something new, I'm sure if they've done a new album then there will be some cracking tunes on it.

"All for one, one for all" is the line from my all time favourite novel "Loneliness of The Long Distance Runner" by Alan Sillitoe. "All for one, one for all. Together we stand, divided We fall". My favourite novel aswell!

It had to begin somewhere, if this is really is the best song they recorded it's a shame. I hope the rest of the LP is better, they deserve way better than this. I assume that in this 21st century of constantly connected smartphones, clickbait, endless distractions and the resulting society wide attention deficit disorder, they decided to put out their shortest, catchiest, poppiest tune first. I have no doubts that there will be many songs with more depth on the album. And it is damn catchy. I only listened to it once last night and it's in my head today.

I must say that Squire was dead cool. "All for one, one for all" is the line from my all time favourite novel "Loneliness of The Long Distance Runner" by Alan Sillitoe. "All for one, one for all. United we stand, divided We fall". My favourite novel aswell! My another favourites of his work are "Uncle Ernest" and "On Saturday Afternoon". Sillitoe was one of those "Angry young men".

Of course they need to do better for the album but it's alright. Especially in comparison to that awful football anthem by the Manics I also heard for the first time yesterday.

A ringtone song with two "choruses" and a line that is easy to sing, for short attention span humanity. It's a shame that they have to rely on that, but if the rest is better, they'll be forgiven...

Exactly. Very generic melody, sounds a lot like Liam's tunes. I think you two need to listen to a bit more music. Its a bit like the people on the stone roses forum who are basically comparing everything bad about it to Oasis.

Day 2. Lyrics are still horrible, but really catchy. Squire's guitar sounds awesome, as always, and it really makes the song sound good. I don't think it's a bad song at all.
Like someone said, maybe they wanted to release some poppy tune first to get some attention from people who only listen mainstream music.

I find the interesting thing about the die hard Stone Roses fans moaning and been heartbroken on dontstop is down to the feeling of been had. They really believed they were THAT much better than everybody else.
For years they would sneer at Oasis fans whenever a new album came out with the 'Same old shit, The Roses would be so much more experimental' bollocks really believing there favorite band were some sort of creative geniuses and they genuinely believed it.
So now they have finally released a long awaited new record and it sounds like an Oasis B-side. The laughter. It's 2016 and Noel Gallagher is creating interesting music like The Right Stuff and While The Song Remains the Same and the mighty, legendary Stone Roses could only come up with that.
Oasis 1 - Stone Roses 0 - As it always was anyway.

not a patch on their first albums, still miles better than the trash that ashcroft came up with lately.
