Apart from Modern Love (which I've never been that bothered by tbh) and the re-recorded version of Cat People (in my opinion, inferior to the original one he did with Giorgio Moroder), Let's Dance is a bloody brilliant pop record. I have a deep hate relationship about China Girl. Oh lubeck, just you shut your mouth! Shhhhhh!

That's a nice connection which I didn't know about either. Not sure why you tagged me though as I'm an atheist too! I don't think anything has been revealed about those (5?) tracks which were demoed after Blackstar, but considering that Bowie probably believed he had a little more time than he did (as hinted by Visconti) do you think that he visioned Blackstar to be something more like a penultimate release rather than a final one? Or was he simply doing what he loved, pumping out tracks until the lights went out?

Jesus Quintana: You ready to be fcked, man? I see you rolled your way into the semis. Dios mio, man. Liam and me, we're gonna fck you up.
The Dude: Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
Jesus Quintana: Let me tell you something, pendejo. You pull any of your crazy sht with us, you flash a piece out on the lanes, I'll take it away from you, stick it up your ass and pull the fcking trigger 'til it goes "click."
The Dude: Jesus.
Jesus Quintana: You said it, man. Nobody fcks with the Jesus.
Walter Sobchak: Eight-year-olds, Dude.

Atheists... I'm not the most educated person to speak about Christianity either. But have you seen David Bowie in The Last Temptation of Christ? I felt like, this whole theme of Lazarus, was always connected to Bowie.

State away my friend. Just expect a heavy tut when I see it in your 10 word profile description. Oh, and to keep things somewhat on topic, despite not being overly popular I thought album cover to The Next Day was fantastic.

Woah, was the Lazarus story really new to you? This is not a knock on you guys btw,but it's such a basic thing over here and also one of the most common and used references to the Bible (and not just amongst religious people) I'm amazed people actually don't know about it...different cultures I suppose

Saw some Bowie interviews today, and if he wasn't the coolest cat around! What a down to earth, funny, charismatic man. I've still not got round to getting into him properly, but that will be rectified soon.

Anything outside that geezer who walked on wine and I'm lost.

I've still not got round to getting into him properly, but that will be rectified soon. I know exactly what you mean. Just yesterday I watched the three parts of this What a person and what an enrichment for the world he was! While typing this I'm watching his "Live by request" gig and I can totally recommend it. And you know what...I had to think of the quote by Morrissey from his autobiography: "“David [Bowie] quietly tells me, ‘You know, I’ve had so much sex and drugs that I can’t believe I’m still alive,’ and I loudly tell him, ‘You know, I’ve had SO LITTLE sex and drugs that I can’t believe I’m still alive.” " Seeing how charming he is during this gig alone..it doesn't suprise me in the slightest For those of you who haven't seen it yet:

The Bible... That's the one where a bratty, sexually frustrated invisible super-man in the sky somehow manages to impregnate a young woman from Israel without her knowing, isn't it? Ah yes, I remember now! The invisible super-man in the sky then abandons her when it comes closer to the due date, leaving her to deliver it cold and alone and (for some reason) surrounded by horse shit and other such potentially fatal sanitary abominations. And to make matters worse, he does nothing to stop those three creepy old perverts coming in, offering to pay to sit in and watch! Thankfully, attitudes to women are a lot less hateful in our modern day fiction.

Wow, I'm with defmaybe00 on this one, I thought the story of Lazarus was common knowledge, like Noah's Ark or the Epiphany. theyknowwhatimean, that's why the Doctor Who episode with Mark Gatiss about the old man who cheats death is called "The Lazarus Experiment".

Thankfully, attitudes to women are a lot less hateful in our modern day fiction. You should always inform yourself about the people that surround you. You know, even if its fictive parabola (forget superman), why shouldn't this be realistic circumstances at the time,... for a refugee from Nazareth btw... ? Also, don't forget about Joseph. I don't believe in an interventionist "God". But it's all part of the parabola. Don't twist a tradition. An antistance against a religious group of people is not necessary.

Have fans of this album checked out To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar? I read somewhere he was a fan of it and some of the jazzier stuff on Blackstar reminded me of Kendrick's record.

Think it's really lovely what Rough Trade are doing with donating their profits from Bowie stuff for the month to Cancer Research, so decided to buy a 12'' (also, admittedly, I want desperately to see Adele get absolutely trounced in the charts this week). Just need a way to listen to it now... Anyone any suggestions for record players? @wadfalkirk , you listen to vinyl, don't you? I'm a bit late with this but I'd advise you to get on eBay and source yourself a vintage turntable. I've recently just purchased myself a Pioneer PL-300 which I play through a Pioneer SA-510 amp, amazing sound. www.vinylengine.com/library/pioneer/pl-300.shtmlwww.hifiengine.com/manual_library/pioneer/sa-510.shtml

https://www.reddit.com/r/vinyl/comments/4hj92g/a_friend_discovered_that_if_you_expose_the/ imgur.com/DWfh36JNice! Unfortunatelly my copy is a CD, so don't know if it works for me, but what a surprise. This man never bores us, never! Great news for Japanese Bowie fans. Exhibition "David Bowie is" will be held in Tokyo from 8th January 2017 until 9th April 2017. I went to Groningen twice and it was worth to visit. www.davidbowieis.jp/

Pleased to say that 'Tis A Pity and I Can't Give Everything Away have both grown on me immeasurably, so that I now love EVERYTHING on the record.
What does everyone else think of it, four months on? The title track still most people's favourite?
Have to say, it's still Dollar Days that does it for me. It's almost certain to put a lump in my throat every time I put it on, if I've not heard it for a couple of weeks or so.

This part of Blackstar is one of my favourite moments in any song by any artist ever. So so good.
