AF may never came close to the lows of Oasis, but never came close to the highs either, I mean, Funeral was a great Indie album, but DM and MG were bigger than life, both albums left a big cultural impact worldwide.
Oasis is a bit like the Rolling Stones or U2, It doesn't matter If they released weak albums, people Will always remember their best stuffs, despite that the Stones released so many shit albums in their later years, it is because of their greatest stuffs that they will always feature on those best bands ever lists, no matter what.

I like the first four songs and then it turns into a dumpster fire. Infinite Content is the worst song I've ever heard

You can't seriously discredit The Suburbs just because it won the same award as a mediocre album! The Grammy award for The Suburbs was evidence of popular appeal (because that's what the Grammys are merely about) in addition to the widespread critical praise it received. The albumtranscended popular and critical approval. Come on folks, are we really that desperate in going overboard with criticism towards Arcade Fire just so it makes us feel better about Heathen Chemistry?!

That Pitchfork review is a bit shocking, AF is one of their darlings, also after The Suburbs won a "Grammy" and became more well known, there was a building up, many people starded to see the band as the next U2, even Bono hinself appeared in one of their promo videos, but Reflektor was a divisive, and now EN is their low point, that is too bad for then, with good vibes and no internal problems they had all the ingredients to archieve this, I still want to see them becoming really big of course.

My point was a little known indie rock band from Canada not only got nominated for Album of the Year but actually won over heavy heavy favorites that sell boat loads compared to little Arcade Fire's 300,000 (at time of win). Artists like Eminem, Lady Gaga, Lady Antebellum and Katy Perry. Its extremely rare to see a band win that award with an actual great album of material. Their win spawned twitter trends...... #WhoTheFuckAreArcadeFire And I'll never forget how pissed Dr. Dre was when Eminem lost to them. The disgust in his face says it all. Amazing win for indie rock.

To be fair, the band is extremely private. Who the hell knows what is going on behind closed doors. Not for sure to assume good or bad. So they delivered a 7, big deal. I love so many of the tunes and I'm gonna dance my ass off at MSG come September.

My biggest problem with the album is the police sirens at the beginning of 'Signs of Life'; first time I heard it I was in the car, had a body in the trunk.....
Annoys me when bands put sirens on songs....fuckers.
I view the middle of the album as "fun", for lack of a better word.....maybe they'll put out an EP soon or something.
Thanks.

This album made me realize how great Neon Bible is No, really it´s great. I was listening to Neon Bible again today while I was cycling and it is very enjoyable to listen. And that is what I actually don´t like about EN, I wasn´t enjoying while I was cycling and listening to this album few days ago, forget about all deeper analysis, it just isn´t very enjoyable album. It reminds of new Kasabian´s albums, like when you hear Tom singing ´´I'm in ecstasy, I'm in ecstasy´´ and you can hear that he is singing that like it is greatest song of all time but you just think, oh this is just pathetic. .Same feeling I get when I hear ´´Infinite content, Infinite content, We're infinitely content´´. It so fucking stupid, I have to take off my headphones off and then when I think, oh thank God, it´s over, there goes another, even more painful version of Infinite Content. I just can´t forgive them Infinite Content And like I said, it´s not very enjoyable to listen, it doesn´t feel good. And I´ve always liked AF because they were always thinking about every detail, very intelligent and smart band. When you play their first album, first word that Win sings is ´´and´´ which implies that story of that album is just part of some bigger story, their lives, and this is just one episode and it´s not beginning. To the last song on Reflektor- Supersymmetry, which is made to be played forwards and backwards at the same time. And Infinite Content sounds like something that someone with IQ of 43 wrote it.

No doubt. That first Infinite Content song is the Flashbulb Eyes of EN. I like the country version. Could have easily been on The Suburbs. Neon Bible has always been excellent. More reserved than Funeral but just as biting.

I can't help but think of it as one song which I quite like. Both versions compliment each other. Also, I enjoy Chemistry much more as a song from the Everything Now Corporation to it's consumers, wish Win had played that up a bit more in the lyrics.

Maybe one of the reasons why I enjoy this album is the ABBA vibes. Although a bit marmite, I like ABBA - not a hardcore fan, but I have ABBA Gold and ABBA Gold II. Imagine if ABBA existed in a dystopian world, this is what they would sound like.

Evthony Nowthano gave it a 4/10, and says it's better than Reflektor. PURE NONSENSE.

Evthony Nowthano gave it a 4/10, and says it's better than Reflektor. PURE NONSENSE. He ended up giving it a lower score than Reflektor. His review is not that far off from mine but he's very extreme in his takes. For example he likes the intro 3 songs for the most part but can't stand the middle section of Peter Pan (although likes the instrumentation like I do), Chemistry, the Infinite Contents and Electric Blue. I think the latter is a tune personally. Says Put Your Money On Me is one of the clear highlights. I also agree with him that the 40 second loop intro is stupid and the album should have begun with the swirling disco strings of Everything Now. Trust me that loop shit is a cheap gimmick. The closing reprise is great. Don't ruin it by the loop!

Imagine an EP of the album's highlights: Everything Now, Creature Comfort, Electric Blue, Put Your Money On Me, and We Don't Deserve Love. (Substitute Signs Of Life if you're so inclined.) Would that not have been a more worthy addition to their discography than a hodgepodge album burdened by twenty minutes' worth of novelty non-songs and clumsy or meandering half-songs? What is the point?
