Heartwarming just how much love Capaldi feels for everything Who.
I hope he stays under the new show runner.

What a marvellous episode. Very topical and very powerful, especially the speech at the end. My dad described the episode as 'weak', a statement which left me speechless. Still, this is the same man who described Midnight as 'dull'. shamblebobbledibbledooble!

it's a shame there won't be any new episodes until 2017. There'll be a Christmas special, but yeah, the next series'll be in a year's time. D'you know why that is? I had hoped they were just talking a year off to write something ace, but I heard the other day they're starting filming next month, so I guess not. Maybe it's to give the new showrunner time to formulate his plans for what he's gonna do with series 11 and beyond, I dunno. Are you fully back on board now, because I think it was you who said you were losing interest in it a bit last year?

I think the delay is because there's a lot happening this year, Euro in France, Summer Olympics in Rio... I don't know, that's what I read and yes, I did post I was losing interest *. I hope the stories are better for next year. I liked the last few episodes but overall it was a tad disappointing season. I'm not sure a long break is going to help get me back on board, though * now that I think about it, maybe I posted that regarding Game of Thrones. but it also applies to DW.

The Doctor: What do you think of the towers? River Song: I love them. The Doctor: Then why are you ignoring them? River Song: They're ignoring me. But then you can't expect a monolith to love you back...

Maisie Williams is small, right? Right?! (Pls no child actors...)Maisie Williams has already ruled herself out. And Moffat, when asked about Osgood, said it would be someone brand new. No point rebooting the show, he said, with someone who already knows of the TARDIS and The Doctor and all that.

What does everyone think about Moffat leaving? It's the right time, and I hope he goes out with he brilliant series he deserves. He had very obvious flaws and strengths as a show runner, but as an episodic writer he was damn near impeccable. Really hope he stays on when the other guy takes over and carries on writing an episode or two a series. Sure, Russell didn't when he stepped down from the role, but then he did always had a problem keeping to deadlines, which isn't really on when you're getting your scripts in for someone else's show, but there's no reason why Moffat can't stay. Imagine how good series 11 could be with Capaldi staying on under the new showrunner who smashes it, writing some absolute belters to open and close the series; and has Moffat and Gatiss (back on form) padding it out; and maybe with some more cinematic direction from the likes of Ben Wheatley (and Peter Jackson?)... Hell, when the new Top Gear gets canned, they can even get a decent special effects budget from the BBC! Might finally stop people prattling on about the 'Russell T. Davies era' all the ruddy time.

I agree with all that except one thing; Mark Gatiss should have no further involvement. Even when he has a good concept like Sleep No More he manages to fuck it up. He's a good actor, and seemingly a capable showrunner - but as an episodic writer he's mediocre at best. Get the likes of Gaiman, Mathieson, and Curtis back instead. I very much hope Moffat continues to write a couple of episodes every season - like I said, he's an absolutely mind-blowing episodic writer. How much of New Who's most iconic concepts are his? The empty children, the French revolutionary droids, the Weeping-fucking-Angels, the Vashta Nerada, River Song, the Silence...the list goes on. Plus, I maintain that Blink is quite arguably one of the most perfect pieces of writing of all time. I wouldn't change a single line.

I like that she's not a complete robo-babe. Another one, and it'd start feeling like an American show. And if it was an American show, we wouldn't have Capaldi, we'd have Liam Hemsworth or someone instead, neglecting to use intellect (because he wouldn't have any) and saving the day with his fists and sonic screwdriver AK-47 instead. Fuck yeah!! And then you'd have the fart jokes and... well, let's just be thankful it's NOT.
No, they seem to have taken the 'Donna route' instead this time. And that's fine by me. Especially if it means that she too doesn't ever fall in love with the Doctor, because a) as Capaldi said with regards to Clara, it would be creepy, and b) no matter how it was written, they'd never be able to pull it off like they did with Rose and the 10th.
Whether the lassie'll be any good or not, I can't really say from just the above clip; but to be honest, she could be absolute pish and if Capaldi brings it like he did for series 9, it wouldn't matter. I never liked Martha Jones, but that didn't stop Blink and Human Nature/The Family of Blood being premier Who eps.
