Not sure about this as a single! Decent song though, depends what kind of radio edit you can get out of it. Slightly surprised Here's a Candle wasn't the B-side, maybe that's for the fourth single? Is the existance of the song confirmed? Or is it just rumours?

Not sure about the point of singles any more, but if you need to "release" something, it might as well be a track this good!

I personally think Noel don't give a fuck about summer singles or strategy in pickin' them. He'll just release a few songs that he thinks are the best on the album in dates his management suggest.

It is one of the most popular songs of his on Spotify at the moment. I'm a big fan of the song, but I would think that fun fact is just because when people want a quick sample of the record, they go for the first song.

If you notice most bands have track 1 of their latest album as their most played. Riverman is a great track. Don't think it really matters if it's radio friendly or not, they'll still played it, it's Noel. Should get more than decent reviews, are singles even still reviewed these days? It certainly won't chart well, nothing but utter shit tends to chart as singles these days. Singles aside from the 1st one don't really matter, it's just to sale shit to fans (I've already preordered mine, got the other two colour vinyls and all 5 singles from the 1st one). Bit let down that the Japanese bonus will be the bside, don't think it happened last album, can't remember what the Japanese bonus was though. Hopefully we will get another single (YKWCGB) with a new bside. By the way, have we just assumed that Noel will release 5 singles from this album cause he did last time?

...The fact we haven't got Freaky Teeth on this single is hopefully a good sign that the next B-side might be a totally new track, maybe 'Here's a Candle' that was mentioned on here before. I would have thought that "the fact we haven't got Freaky Teeth on this single" is more likely a sign that it actually is being held over for use as the B-side on the next single.

Confirmed. B-Side - Leave My Guitar Alone 11th May release date. I've already bought both those tracks. Sorry Noel, no need for me to bother with this release. The only people who will buy this single are the fans and collectors, and most of them already have both these tracks. The least Noel could do is throw on a remix or a demo as the b-side.

I don't think we'll get 5 from this album to be honest. 10 singles across 2 albums containing only 20 tracks is ridiculous frankly. I think we'll get one more in July / August and then if we get another single it'll be a brand spanking new track around Christmas time, hopefully with another new track on the b-side. An 4 track christmas EP would be the dream, we all know he has the songs.

Even a remix or a demo would be better than something he's already released. I disagree here also. Having the previously unavailable Japanese bonus track on vinyl is way better than having some shit remix that I'm going to listen to once or twice. A demo is always nice though!

That's what I was thinking,I would have love TDOTL as a single,as those kind of songs seem to be loved by the masses at the moment, but Riverman could make some of the members of the "Noel Gallagher's just a Beatles rip-off/talentless prick who writes pub-rock songs" brigade change their minds I still doubt it'll do well though If it won't get played much it won't change anyone's mind. Radio 2 will love it.... 6 music too..?

While Riverman is a brilliant song, I don't think it's a "proper" single. If they wanted to release a proper single, I would say put out The Dying of the Light a week after Easter Monday, and then You Know We Can't Go Back in late May/early June.
It is what it is, though, and Riverman is a good song. Hopefully it can generate some interest, but I can't help but think of a missed opportunity for Noel achieve some decent chart success, while he's at it. Then again, the charts aren't everything, but still..

I was expecting Lock All the Doors, but Riverman is a fantastic song, so this is a pleasant surprise.

I'd love to see that, but I really doubt Noel would end up doing something like that, it would he appear he seems to over think things a bit and is only likely to stick to the 4 year album cycle. Though it seems we got more songs last time round. Still would love it if he dropped a single in between albums or some EP with left overs. I mean at the end of the day we are all going to buy it, in various formats and issues, haha.

It will sound good on the High Flying Birds best of it ten years time but ad choice for a radio friendly single. Its my favourite song on the album but YKWCGB or TDOTL would have been better.

Should have been You Know We Can't Go Back. I like Riverman, but it's a bit dull.

Great song, poor single choice. It's gonna fall faster than a lead Zeppelin.
