Tbf, I don't think UGHF is a neo-fascist and I don't think Matt is soft. But to go back on topic, there is no point arguing over Liam vs Noel because Noel is obviously the more talented, creative one and will supply us with the best music. Liam, Noel and everyone here knows it. The only thing to talk about is how far they can go in their respective careers, in context to their talent. Clearly Noel has had the better start with two top quality albums, the second of which is a career highlight IMO with all his 90s output. In fairness Liam has also showed he has a certain amount of creative ability but that he needs to solve a lot of problems before he can start a really respectable career on his own - chief of them being his vocals and his lyrics. He CAN write good songs but I get the feeling he loves touring, doing interviews and the like more than writing his own material - in short he's a frontman. In time though if he starts to think seriously about writing he could put together a really good ten track album - maybe with collaborations or even guest vocalists. But that is far in the future as the present has bigger problems for him to solve than choruses and middle eights...Meanwhile my eyes are fixed firmly on The (Very) High Flying Birds and where Noel will take his songwriting in the future - how experimental will he go and good will he be at it? Chasing Yesterday suggests the future is bright indeed. I find this a very exciting time to be a Gallagher follower and fan and I sincerely hope it is not spoiled by the dull, predictable ending of a reunion.

Wow, this thread has turned into yet another Liam VS Noel debate.
They need each other!
God bless.

Where did I say that? I just don't let those kind of people ruin my gig. Simples. If you got hit with piss it wouldnt ruin your gig? The chances of being hit are very low... and besides I'm sure most of the piss is just beer. If I did get hit, it wouldn't put me off going to future gigs though.

I saw them Bolton 2000 and Newcastle 2005. At the Newcastle gig the band were buzzing, Liam an Noel even linked arms and skipped around in a circle during Songbird. On a side note, I called out Tony Mccarols name and Noel replied "Tony Mccarroll, you have got to be fucking kidding me". Second best gig of my life so far.

From hearing chasing yesterday and unless I m missing something this album should/ will be a massive success. And now he's producing his own stuff as well. My friends OASIS are dead. Noel would be a fool to start oasis again. For money ( dosnt need it) For attention ( he's got it) For Liam ( don't think he cares). The only way it will happen is if his career nose dives and whilst people like Paul weller are telling him not to and Chasing Yesterday thrives I ll carry listening to the old CD s cause that's the closest I m gonna get.

I've spent (through stubhub etc) £550 for tickets for me and the wife to see Noel next month in the Albert Hall and at my local arena. If it was an Oasis reunion tour I honestly wouldn't have paid that, in fact I may not go at all. I think I've maybe grown out of the swaggering, growling, spitting, looking for a fight crowd that Oasis attract (also Liam). I'm much more into the acoustic, lighter sounding grown up Noel now. It's maybe an age thing. Yep, Oasis gigs attracted right Neanderthal piss throwing bell ends, certainly in the UK. You had to stand some way back to keep away from that vermin. Spoke to one idiot, admitted to me he was a BNP supporter at the bar and went galavanting off with his idiot mates to some ruckus fight at the front. It only escalated when that ape from Kasabian slouched on stage. And before anyone defends that dirty side to Oasis gigs, that doesn't happen at any other bands gig. Great gigs are meant to be a communal experience, so I've never experienced as much hostility as one from an Oasis gig. Some real rubbish being spoke in this thread. Oasis revisionists trying to rewrite history to fit in with there own version. I've been to more than a dozen Oasis gigs and I have met a lot of great people, people I still talk to now and I love the buzz of a Oasis crowd definitely some of the best fans in world. The vast majority of people are there to have a good time, reading this thread you'd think it was raining piss but it isn't. But why present a balanced view when its so much easier to just generalise and throw everyone in together. Oasis gigs are communal. Even a few days before the end at Wembley 09 stadium the crowd singing Don't Look Back In Anger was huge and exciting. You do get idiots at Oasis gigs that's true, I have seen a lot of dickheads but they are in the minority and that shouldn't be forgotten I would also dispute that not happening to any other bands or artists over the years. The second myth is that Oasis have been shit live since 2000. Tell that to the people at Finsbury Park, the 2005 theater or arena tour and Wembley arena 2009. Maybe they haven't been as consistent, maybe they haven't been as interested or maybe you are actually bored of them rather than they have become boring. I can only speak for myself but I loved it the first time I saw them and the last. Its all personal preference and if you want to spend £550 to go and see Noel then fair play, the new album sounds good. I'm not ready to sit down and tap my foot at gigs quite yet.

There's no future for OASIS anymore.
The last years in OASIS for Noel were just work, he didn't enjoy music those years.
Now, with these 2 albums you can see a new Noel.

I would also raise the point that with DBTT it was heralded as a return to form.
Many of the younger fans here got into Oasis (believe it or not) due to The Importance of Being Idle. Heck, Songbird is one of the tunes now most popular when learning guitar. Even Let there Be Love was impressing music fans. Part of the Queue is as good as anything Noel wrote on CY... thinking about it... DBTT was actually a cracking little album.
Also, Sky Sports were using the Meaning of Soul for their adverts, the 2005 concerts were epic and gave the band a whole new lease of life.
Hardly the sign of an irrelevant band whose time was solely in the 90's (obviously that is their legacy though).
I'll say one thing... people would NEVER tire of going to Oasis gigs.
But the "revisionists" will have it said that nothing worthwhile came from Oasis after most probably the Wembley gigs in 2000.
Balderdash! Oasis in the 2000's served a purpose: good solid albums and epic concerts.
I for one would love a reunion of any sorts as long as Noel continued on his creative journey... don't see how anyone could be against that.

I'm not stating a 'truth' there, that was my experience back in 09, it was the only Oasis gig I've been to in fairness, but the performance wasn't much kop either and there was a vigour and energy that was missing. It's obvious from my account and other peoples similar experience that an Oasis gig isn't for everyone. If you can't cater to everyone's needs in a stadium, there's obviously something not right there.

To be honest... some of the comments here make me sick. The ideal scenario is Noel writing his songs under the Oasis moniker and Liam singing them (with slight variations obviously). Some of the bile being sprouted here is just disgusting... especially about people not being bothered about seeing Oasis live again.... Jesus fucking Christ. As long as Noel and Liam are alive, Oasis the band still exists. Enjoy Noel's new album by all means (as I have)... but some of the posters here have lost all my respect. Sorry had to reply to these. Dude your started the thread and asked what people thought Noel's new solo album ment for an oasis reunion. 90 % said it means nothing aside for, the fact that Noel should continue the solo route. Then you post this, which like some said earlier is similar to a reaction if we were post racial hate crime language. You may have lost respect for us due to our opinions but I am choosing to not respect you cause of your shitty attitude when almost no one agreed with you! I understand that you'd love to see oasis live. I've seen three times, and really wouldn't kill for a fourth. When you asked if there is anything more epic than Liam and Noel onstage together. I'll disagree. Maybe in the 90s. But at the end it was just awkward man. Everyone knew they hated each other, there was no chemistry or anything there. Why keep on forcing something. Then you said what if Noel would have creative control again. Well it's never going to be the same man. He already gave up control you think the other would accept going back to doing everything Noel says. Also who would actually be in oasis reunion? 90s oasis or Gem and Andy oasis. A reunion with gem and Andy might be a tad depressing especially if the set list would almost entirely be comprised of DM and MG tunes. Also and I can't stress this enough, Liam might beg for a reunion but I trully don't think he is physically or mentally able to pull it off now. Finally man, you have to chill with the reunion stuff. I think your the same guy who posted an analysis of the might I lyrics and how it ment the reunion was a given. Then all this with the album title and references. I'll grant that Noel has a more amicable speach on a possible reunion now than 3 years ago. But if it did happen it would a short tour for a lot of money and that is it. Your ideal scenario of Noel being oasis lead writer and guitarist with Liam singing seems very improbable and if it did happen it could potential ruin Noel's future, Liam's future and the oasis legacy. Lighten up and accept that people can disagree with you with out having the opinions labeled as "bile being sprouted". Cheers

Praise this album all you want, but I think a lot of people are revising their views on Oasis of the 2000's. I don't think this forum was reflecting that view during that time was it? Of course not Pretty sure my OP, while optimistic, also considered whether this was Noel's way of dealing with the past (ie. Chasing Yesterday)... but some folks are just idiots. I'm just standing up for my views against the sheeple. Now I'll think and go and listen to Chasing Yesterday!

"Many of the younger fans here got into Oasis (believe it or not) due to The Importance of Being Idle" Nonsense.
"Even Let there Be Love was impressing music fans" Nonsense.
"people would NEVER tire of going to Oasis gigs." Nonsense, people were getting tired when they were around. Same old setlists.
"Balderdash! Oasis in the 2000's served a purpose: good solid albums and epic concerts" Nonsense. Solid albums is perhaps being generous.

But your first Oasis gig... and you come away thinking that? Geeeesh. I genuinely feel sorry about that. You seem like quite an analytical guy... but did you not get a rush of excitement when they came on? Hearing Live Forever for the first time live didn't make you feel I'm finally here?(Murrayfield was in the Lord Don't Slow Me Down DVD wasn't it with the casual walk to the stage) I'm at a loss for words.

It's quite simple for me, Liam and Noel get the best (and worst) out of each other. The sooner Oasis are back together the better.
