Well, color me shocked. Considering he only did about 19k the first week and I think 7 or 9k the next week, it would have been very difficult for him to get 60k plus, but he did. Must have been a really slow burner. Maybe just small local upticks when he blew through cities on his own then later with Snow Patrol. Nothing big enough at one time to register on the charts but a few thousand a week. Shows that the extensive touring did him some good on the sales front. Hopefully that means that he'll do quite a bit of it again. I would really love a co headline tour with a good sized artist again. I know people complained about the Snow Patrol thing...but it brought him to my town so I'm more than good with it.

I got to see my favorite songwriter in my favorite venue (the Ryman) and I was up close. One of the best live experiences of my life for sure.

A year shy of its 60th birthday, the UK albums chart is about to go through its biggest change to date. As of 1 March, streaming data will count alongside CD, LP and download sales in the first combined charts. The Guardian
Not a good news for Noel

I think it's a real shame that streaming is included. Has there ever been a more detached and impersonal way to listen to music? At least with vinyl, CDs and (to a lesser extent) downloads you actually own a copy of the music.
It's also incredibly unlucky that the rule change comes in a day before Noel's album.

At age 47, I could really care less how Noel's singles chart outside the lead single. His album will go #1 in the UK which is more important in my opinion. We all know that Noel just doesn't grasp how to promote and release a single in these modern times. That will always put him behind the eight ball.

So they count the streaming of an album even though people might not buy it? That seems strange. If it's put to stream it then can be easily bootlegged. Who else has an album coming out that day? Modest Mouse?

They are starting include streams to future proof the charts. (Ie the calculation will be different in the future) But now they take away the 2 most popular tracks then average out the rest of the tracks make the 2 popular tracks the same average then divide it by 1000 and that will be worth an album sale (I think any way) If anything it might make noel at an advantage as his album can gain sales via streaming same as any other album (with stand out singles not counting towards the album numbers) Then we know gallagher fans are huge physical collectors unlike most modern acts fans

Well, CY will be a #1 album, that's sure. And it will be #1 even in the second week, imho. He could easily beat Mark Knopfler and Madonna's first week sales 7 days later in the UK.
NGHFB sales 2nd week: 71.000 (which would be a good first week for many artists) Madonna's last album 1st week: 56.000

I think only having a top 30 would be a bit a failure for Noel considering how much he toured through the US the last time. Would be nice to actually see that translate into more opening week sales this time around.

BOTMI is keeping its position on iTunes (#49, #52 8 hours ago, #51 24 hours ago) and Amazon (#33) and it'll probably chart for the 5th straight week on the Sales Chart. It's getting good airplay: #3 on BBC Radio 2 (UK's most popular radio station), #7, 6 and 8 on XFM London, Manchester and Scotland. CY looking good too: #36 on Amazon and 65 on iTunes
Interesting:
Youtube + Spotify IIHAG: 11M WAL: 9.7M TDOYAM: 8.5M EOTR: 5.2M ITHOTM: 4.5M DO: 3.1M BOTMI: 2M RM: 1.5M BA: 1.5M TWB: 1.2M DTD: 1.1M SBAJF: 1M STC: 1M TGR: 700k (only YT) SAHITS: 265k (only YT) LTLSALOM: 250k (only YT)

So it leaked 16 days before the UK release, it's not that good for him, isn't it?
Anyway, I think The Mexican would be a perfect single for the american Rock N roll people.

I thought Lock All The Doors would be a good one for that public. Well, the mexican is more "american". I think people into the early Black Keys might like that song

Oh well, still in the top100 and hasn't even been released yet officially. And hopefully the performance on Graham Norton within 2 weeks will help it a bit. Graham Norton is popular here too, so maybe it will do something here. It's not that I'm obsessed with charts, it's just that I'd love to hear it on the radio and that I'd much rather hear TBOTMI than some nonsense like that Albatroaz song.

I can't wait to see Noel on the same sofa with Will Smith at the Graham Norton Show. Yesterday he was at SanRemo Festival in Italy and killed it. He was so funny!

amazon.co.jp pre order #90 (limited edition), #786 (Regular edition) #90 on the normal chart? If it's #90 on the pre-order one... not that good. He did well in Japan last time and he's promoting the album probably even more than in the UK
