Still trying to get into them. Van talks a good game, the last few interviews have been hilarious, remind me of a young Noel, which is obviously what he's going for. Love some of the lyrics too: 'I wanna love you/ But I've no time for your friends, who can fucking do one' - class
But I was expecting some Oasis or Arctic Monkeys influence, and they just sound generic and American

Cannot for the life of me find the link to it, but Van said he'd love to release 5 albums in 5 years.

I don't see the point of that article. English is not my first language, I don't get it. It looks like Noisey is taking the piss off 'em It's alway funny though how people are concerned about an indie band view when there are tons of rappers who are really sexist and nobody cares. It looks like Noisey really hates them though. And now the story comes up again when they're on the cover of NME. Uh, what a coincidence. McCann already commented time ago. There’s only been one patch of turbulence on the journey so far, when a live reviewer noticed the rather juvenile services for sale on the Catfish merch stall (kisses 50p, “sex free”, “six tugs of the porridge gun” £5, and so on). The article led to accusations of sexism, and some demands for Radio 1 to blacklist the band. “That was a bit far,” sighs McCann. As he explains it, their guitar tech – his best mate, Larry – got bored running the merch stand and started listing fictional stuff such as “naked selfies” and “Bondy’s underpants” as a joke. “I mean, our manager is female,” says the singer. “I love women and hold doors open for them. At the bottom of the list it said ‘Exorcisms. £60.’ Did they really think we were serious?” He sounds hurt. “I didn’t think it was fair on us, but we got through it.”

I think Van McCann was born in 1992 or 1993 and founded the band in 2008. Ouch, why nobody said they're exorcists? #akawhatthefuckarepeoplesaying

New tour, quite small venues except for the 10k people in London (sold out in like 20 minutes) in two nights and 7.5k in Manchester. I reckon the tix will last few minutes.

Are these guys a thing? Only seen the name on this forum. Silly band name but so was High Flying Birds. Initially I didn't like them, I thought they were quite cheesy. Now I really like them and they said the second albums is much better and ready (this is what they say). They are really ambitious, big fans of Oasis (Lyla made them to create the band) and they said they want to become even bigger (which is impossible, but still) than Oasis. Their last album charted at #10 but unlike other bands with a better chart peak they're still in chart and have a gold disc. 36 weeks on chart as of now. Also they're a good live bands and sold out 10.000 tix for two London shows within minutes. I don't know if they're on their way to stadiums, but the arenas status is close. McCann knows how to write a chorus, that's sure.

All +30.000 tix sold out in 10 minutes. The arena status is right there.
Also we know:
- They'll play new songs for this tour - Their Twitter page wrote: "Big plans for next year". Second album? They might explode if they do everything right.

Are these guys still quite young? I hope so because that means they have plenty of time ahead of them. I don't think they've quite hit the mark yet but the potential is definitely there.

I do think they need to release their next album next year rather than wait until 2017 as if they leave it too long then they'll lose their hype and a lot of their fanbase like so many other similar bands from a few years ago.

I heard the tail end of one of their songs on the radio today. Kinda reminded me of The Fray, and that's not necessarily a good thing. Kinda light, poppy.
I doubt any of the members even suffer from a mental illness.
God bless.

Band's young so they could develop into something, but this is pretty generic mid 00's NME music to my ears. Not bad by any means, but not all that memorable.

I'd urge you to listen to the tracks from the Poetry & Fuel EP from 2009, there were some belters on there.

Another ordinary band parachuted in to fill the Oasis-shaped hole in the music supplements.

Another ordinary band parachuted in to fill the Oasis-shaped hole in the music supplements. There were hyped bands before Oasis and there'll continue to be hyped bands after Oasis, it's just that the colossal effect Oasis had is such that people are quicker to cynically suggest newer bands are being plugged to fill Oasis' shoes. That said, for some bands I do agree with you, but I appreciate the nature of Catfish's hard-earned arrival and their indifference towards the press that have now begun to notice them.

After today I can say there's something in their songs that makes me feel emotional. It happens to me just with Oasis and some NGHFB songs like While the Song Remains the Same.
At the moment my fave is Tyrants
