I am posting this as a thread because I really didn't know where it applied ..... from the day Liam formed them I was against it saying liam needed to get as far away from the " brand " Oasis as possible , and reuniting with the other members without noel would be viewed as Oasis light ...... I ran into a old friend today from the gym here , he knows of my love for the band , haven't seen him in a few years , anyway we are talking and he goes " by the way saw Oasis at the Olympics they seemed off ". And im like what ? He said yea they sounded different something was missing , they got boring ....I KID YOU NOT .. I wish I had a cell that records to post the coversation .... Anyway after I explained it was not Oasis , he understood and was like why keep the band without noel ? Said liam shoud go solo that was like watching watered down oasis .... This was my point from the get go , fanatics like us didn't care , we would support and such , but here a regular rock guy who likes Oasis but not in love , noticed the difference , was dissapointed , but thought it was Oasis cause it looked so similiar but with something missing ( duh ) Just thought I'd pass that along sometimes in this forum some forget that outside of the forum not many even heard of beady eye , and when they see them thought Oasis and not in a good way For the record this guy is a security head at the biggest strip joint in cocoa beach and works security. At the Magic center in Orlando for all the bands so he is in tune with new music , he never even heard of them .......this was a major problem and why I said liam need to distance himself from the brand .... Believe me I wish I was wrong Willie T. Soke I'll tell you the name , you can actually read his facebook post from 2012 and see he thought that even back then . Edit : and when I say go solo I mean like we talked about collaborate with guest artists ..... Im sure there WOULDA been plenty

People should be forgiven for thinking they were the Oasis at the Olympics.
They did one Oasis song. Should have just called it LG and friends. That gig had nothing to do with BDI.

Yea True .... but to me sad , guy is a stone cold rocker , fact he didn't know noel was gone ( for awhile ) and fact he saw the difference just reinforces it woulda been better to scrap any connection to past .. to many high expectations ,

I disagree. I've heard people say Noel was what the performance lacked but the whole band mimed instrumentally. All we'd have got from Noel is backing vocals and they aren't going to make or break that song.
Obviously it goes without saying that Beady Eye missed Noel but I think actually appealing to the Oasis fanbase with Oasis sounding songs like Four Letter Word a the Roller were exactly what needed to be at the forefront and showing the casual fan that LAG can write quality.
It was the promotion and song choices that killed the band. Not the lack of movement away from Oasis

However I do believe as shown by lack of large crowds touring wise in UK ( 3 members of Oasis ) should have drawn larger venues especially when liam is one of them ... In a era when you pay more for concerts people are not attending in masses as in past , and I believe a lot of people saved there cash to see the reunion , because after all they were only 1 man away.from Bdi being Oasis .......... Im sure both points ( mine and yours are correct ). And it sux btw. I wanted both brothers to succeed on huge scale

I like the boldness of the move but what fans really wanted was a rocker full of venom like Four Letter Word. Beady Eye should have kicked the door down with their best foot forward. This is Beady Eye and they ain't no folk band or rockabilly group.

It gets repetitive toward the end with the "baby come on's", but it's not a bad song. However, considering the image Beady Eye were fighting they got caught with the tail wagging the dog. They were so caught up with trying to distance themselves from Oasis in sound that they forgot to align themselves in quality. Four Letter Word fit the bill. It sounds just enough not like an Oasis song and it's quality is good enough to take notice. Beady Eye didn't realize that they weren't fighting a gap between sounds, but a gap between talent and quality. All Bring the Light did was confirm what everyone else thought of them. Probably forever putting in stone the idea that Noel was the only talented one in Oasis. It wasn't the blow that killed them; they could have recovered. However, it was the blow that crippled seriously till the demise of the band.

Still think they should have gone in a more dancey direction.
As solid as songs like Four Letter Word and The Roller is, they needed to drag themselves out of that 60s stupor and those songs weren't going to do it. It would have got people to sit up and pay attention (which would CAUSE attention), rather than just give everyone what was expected, which doesn't appeal to a wide range. Surprise people is what they needed to do, and it was the same with Oasis towards the end.
In fairness, Noel stuck to the tried and tested for his first album, and in many ways that is what drags it down for some in that the sound was too safe (lord knows, I have my reservations with some of the production on that) - but that was a colletion of widely accessible radio friendly tunes, and there was a lot of intrigue as to what the brains behind Oasis would do musically anyway, so naturally got more attention. I think he would suffer if Chasing Yesterday was a replica of the first album.
The prototype should have been that amazing Sons of the Stage cover, and that should have propelled themselves in a more dancey feel.
Liam's voice over a groovy beat would be EPIC. Complacency was the thing that killed Oasis in the 2000s for the general public, they just didn't move on, and Beady Eye didn't move on enough.
Here's hoping Liam's next musical venture is exciting - he's got all the capabilities, that voice, a reputation and good connections (e.g. Death In Vegas) for him not to be an attractive guy to work with. He gets his just criticism - as does Noel, but there's no doubt that everyone wants to see a rejuvenated Liam - and no, an Oasis reunion doesn't count!

Before Beady a Eye gave us any material I always wanted them to embrace a more electronic edge, sorta like Kassbian's first album. Considering who was in the band, I realized that was never gonna happen. The closet they got for me was Shine A Light. Love that dancey, pulsating sound.

Said it countless times but their fan base was always going to come from Oasis fans, Liam is disliked too much to attract masses of support from elsewhere. I understand why they wanted to distance themselves from Oasis but it made no sense to alienate themselves like that when the public were crying out for a Four Letter Word. It would be wrong to blame their failings solely on that but I know stacks of people who love Oasis, like Liam but whose interest in Beady Eye started and abruptly ended with Bring The Light. Lesson to be learnt there.

I agree with everything I've read sadly..... may I add i really want nothing but the best for all things GALLAGHER .....let me just say , I did not say that the topic of the thread was the Only reason , everything I read contributed .....I only said it was one example , A real rock guy I know didn't even know beady eye existed , ( part of bad promotion ) and thought they seemed off ( no noel ) by staying together as a unit without noel , I think that really hurt FOR FANS NOT ON FORUM .....seemed like a warmed over Shell of a band once called Oasis .....to the non fanatical that's not good and would prevent them from supporting either theu buying or attending gigs ... Again especially in UK the fans did t show up enmasse , that had nothing to do with bad promotion ,most all the UK knew beady were touring ,they chose to stay away in part because in this climate of expensive and numerous concerts , I believe a lot figured why see this when there gonna be back with noel for Dm anniversarry ,and spend the cash then All I really meant , the hardcore here knew that wasn't hapenning , but the regular fan reading the rags and the NME kept seeing reunion rumours , ( when 3/4 of the band are together why not ? ) Why I thought liam should distance himself so these rumours would not seem so legit ......but all of whst im reading makes sense as well , anyway just wanted to clarify I know sometimes certain people don't undersand my language or gramma

It's really easy to say what went wrong in any situation in hindsight.....ya know, hindsight is 20/20.
While I wasn't the biggest BDi fan, they were good enough to continue as a band.
It's also difficult to create things that are great. It's easy to critique, it's another thing to create. Here's a blank canvas, now make something.... It's not that easy.....try it some time, it's hard.
God bless.

Everything Liam will ever do, creatively, has been done. I liked Beady Eye; but they split up. End of. Liam's solo stuff, and I promise you this, will not be any different.

In my life I've made one for World War I (High School project), a John Lennon one, a Nirvana one and two Oasis ones. The last Oasis one came out the best.

BE was great album in my opinion with some great tunes , but the simple fact is they just didnt get there name out there properly and thought just being ex oasis would get them through. They shouldve named the band which included liams name ,it wouldve dragged the casual fans in just like if noel didnt put his name to high flying birds really... beady eye produced some top tunes and musically are a great band but the thing they have is that none of them were really recognised as great songwriters and liam isnt the most popular guy in the world on his own but i know oasis fans who didnt even know beady eye existed....

I think it has more to do with DGSS a turning people off 3 years prior so Beady Eye has even less to work with the next time around. A real shame because "BE" towers over DGSS.

I don't think its anything to do with promotion - they could have promoted the hell out of it and it still wouldn't have succeeded, its just simply that the songs didn't quite connect with a lot of people.
When the Oasis fanbase all have their fair share of listening to Beady Eye, and then a large amount of that Oasis fanbase doesn't like them, then you have serious problems. When you can't connect with a large share of your target audience, then there is no way you are going to reach a larger audience, no matter how much promotion you have.
Plenty of folk really enjoyed Beady Eye of course, and as bands go in todays business, they did pretty well in comparison. They didn't need to split up, but when you have someone as ambitious as Liam who has played to hundreds of thousands of people every night in Oasis, it's easy to understand why you'd lose motivation when the maximum size you play is theatres.
I really hope Liam finds his groove again and reaches out to the wide audience he craves - and I don't mean an Oasis reunion because Noel's solo album is gearing up to be more exciting and interesting than anything from Oasis post 1995. If he looked forward rather than looking back at a narrow range of musical influences, then there's potential, but there's no way he's succeeding if he keeps his obsessions with just mainly The Beatles and 60s music. But I fear he may go off the rails and destroy his voice even further in this down period rather than wisely attempting to fix it with a more sedate lifestyle.
Barring an Oasis reunion, what would everyone's dream move for Liam be?

This, sadly, can actually be true.. The Gallagher name alone will give him some more attention at the start, but i doubt this will be enough to make it much different.

There were many reasons as to why they failed..Their songs were very good if you look at them as an individual band. Unfortunately they were always compared to Oasis so they came up short. I still think some of their songs were better than many Oasis songs but I don't think their albums were well promoted at all, wrong choices for singles/videos etc..
They should have done what Noel did and included Liam's name in the band name for better band awareness. SO many mistakes but at the end of the day I still listen to their music and imho - Beady Eye > current bands

Beady Eye "failed" because many people listen to shit music these days and because Liam is the last of his kind "Noel s new album the most exciting thing from Oasis post 95...." "i know oasis fans who didnt even know beady eye existed...." are u on crack guys?

I had a similar experience when watching Wonderwall at the Olympics on TV. My friend turned around to me and said 'Oh God, they've hired a Noel lookalike' He was in fact referring to Jeff Wooton who he didn't realise was playing bass, not guitar. And who is almost 20 years younger than Noel! A classic example of the general public seeing them as an Oasis tribute with Liam, and how they were destined not to succeed the way they imagined.
