I liked them, no matter they were successful or not. Somehow it was quite charming, that musicians, that came out of a giant rock n roll band, were playing clubs and they seemed enjoying it during the DGSS era. To bad Liam ended Beady Eye, but if there is no heart in it .... I can not look into their heads, but I think they all made music in a very linear way. I want them to wake up and see, that you do not need a big chorus or whatever in every song. As much as I love Oasis and all the related bands, after quite some time every band seems really like "we need to reach charts" and not really into the music. They all seem to care too much about peoples opinion altough they don`t need to after the financial success of Definitely Maybe and Whats the story morning glory. I would go apeshit as a musician if I had that financial comfort zone and could do whatever I want. I do it in real life, but I have the problem, that there is not a big audience, that is waiting for stuff^^ Some of your songs you've posted on the forum are more interesting than anything BDi ever released. If you will it, it's not a dream. God bless.

This is wh I love this forum and have been here so Long ( had a few hiccups along the way ) but this is why this place is like no other .......i make a thread about a thought of why I thought Bdi failed ( not the only resson) and you guys just ran in ten different directions totally off my observation , some members in past ( still here even some are ) would say thread is being hijacked or off topic , but I love it !!!! What a forum is all about imo. really enjoy reading all the different sub plots as to why or whats of why you think they failed ..... Keep it going. Cheers

I'm pretty sure BDI failed because they didn't release anything worthy of any recognition in their entire lifespan. You can postulate whatever you like about the pros and cons have forming a band from the remnants of Oasis, but the simple fact of the matter is that if they had released a hit single that the general public actually liked, they wouldn't have gone out with such a whimper. Even die hard fans such as ourselves can agree that the singles released by the band were terrible. Hahahaha when have you ever been a fan of BE let alone a 'die hard' one? I don't consider BE a failure from a personal point of view. They released a couple of albums I like with some good stuff on, did some great gigs to. Commercially they didn't sell that much but I still think people here were expecting way to much in the first place. They could have gone on and done another album but Liam didn't want it. I hope we hear something more from them in t he future. I know in the world of tomlivesforever, a diehard fan only wears Pretty Green and uses 'madferrit' at every opportunity, but I've seen them live four times and once at a festival despite their very average album catalogue (1 good album + 1 crap album = average). And I know you won't bother, and I won't either, but if you look back at this forum when BE was released, I was full of praise for that album. I still think it has some great songs on it and listen to it regularly. By any sensible measure, BDI was a failure. Poor album sales, poor concert ticket sales, little recognition outside the diehard fanbase, non-existent presence in the media, average album reviews etc. If you don't consider their run an utter failure, you must have had very low expectations for them. Considering this is a band consisting of well known musicians, ex-Oasis ffs, the fact that their career was on the level of an Xfactor reject is laughable. The funny thing is when BE started to bomb, I said at the time that the management had fucked up because the album is genuinely good. Yet some here argued that the management had done all they could. So if the management didn't fuck up and the band didn't fuck up, who's to blame for this? The answer is everyone. The management and the band were utter jokes, from start to finish.

leak4ever, we got your opinion about Beady Eye. Now you really need to move on, same to tomlivesforever. Thanks.

I think this thread has proven that you can't blame any one particular reason for them failing. There's a million different reasons given on here and they all have merit to a degree.
As always it works both ways, I definitely think they were hindered by past reputation, but at the same time past reputation saw them sell out their first tour in minutes before they'd released an album, got them interviews and publicity, etc.
Would things have turned out differently if they'd played DGSS down and not compared it to Definitely Maybe? If Noel had taken another year or two off so they weren't constantly in his shadow in their first year? If Gem hadn't fractured his skull when they were about to start touring and promoting BE? Who knows.
It's gone now anyway, plenty of lessons to be learnt all round.

I consider BDI to be a commercial failure, but as far as the music went, it wasn't as bad as people make it out to be. When I first listened to BDI's work and performances, it was wonderful to hear Liam sounding good again after some really awful years for him vocally at the end of Oasis' run. There were also some good tracks along the way, like the first three tracks of DGSS, which was a solid start to their very short run, and showed that they didn't necessarily need Noel as a bandleader to hold everything together. I just wish they would've kept going like that, but been more low key with just as good spirit, Liam more active on stage as a frontman, and not had all those damn circumstances smack them in the face.... Nevertheless, it was a decent run, and it gave back faith in Liam's voice, along with giving back Andy Bell a proper spot (guitarist) in a band again.

"Management" killed Beady Eye and the VERY EXACT same "management" will kill any "solo career" Liam might hope to have, unless he gets rid of the "management."

Bullshit sorry for the slag mate but , im sick of hearing that ....BDI were given the stage to impress the masses , they failed miserably , ,and mngmt had nothing to do with that ... Did mngmt hurt them ? Maybe .....but nothing beats a good gig or a great single , or a moment in time captured on video ( green day at woodstock ) Beady eye had all THESE chances , MNGMT did not hurt that ....they simply uninspired the masses

While we're on the subject of Beady Eye, I would've loved to have heard a follow-up to BE, just for the way their sound was progressing, by how BE was.
Ahh the "What if"s...
