I understand what you are saying but then on that same theme Oasis were never marketed as a lyric based or emotional band, with Noel's lyrics questioned even in early UK music press releases for Supersonic and particularly Shakermaker. With Adele from what I have heard and also read in reviews appears to be trying to come across on those themes which would suggest an attempt at meaningful lyrics, but falling at that hurdle IMO when compared to contemporary R n' B/Soul artists- There is an article from Eurweb that laments this fact, although I do disagree somewhat on the 'white privilege' argument they also attempt to make when referring to Adele's radio and music television playlist support. Fair enough, if seen like that!

Curious what the difference in overall sales numbers are comparing 2005 to 2015. adele beat everything on any year on the charts so the backwards 'excuse's' have no argument pretty much have to go like for like regardless.. even the 'marketing' spend people arguments aren't relevant BHN was promoted everywhere ... weeks on chart nice but like you say / maybe implying being in the top 60-100 nowadays is literally nothing vs being on charts then guessing be a bit more? anyway merry xmas

Curious what the difference in overall sales numbers are comparing 2005 to 2015. The difference is pretty big even tho there are some artists like Adele or Ed Sheeran that still manage to sell a shitload of records But DBTT was on another level in terms of general success compared to CY anyway That,of course, doesn't take anything away from the fact that it's cool to see Noel having a nice run in the charts basically 20 years past his prime...for me at least

Oasis keep regenerating younger fans and that is their legacy! love it!

Not trying to offend anyone by making generalisations but in my mind the type of person who buys an Adele album maybe isn't the most tech savvy individual, I'm thinking along the lines of people like my Mum, not saying young people aren't into Adele as well but I think broadly speaking it's a slightly different demographic, I class myself as a massive Oasis fan but I only bought NGHFB and BE, never bought DGSS or CY, I just *ahem* downloaded them (and not from iTunes...) I don't see the point in buying them now anyway because I have Spotify, it's not like I need to support a struggling artist, neither of them are short of a few bob, even if the Daily Mail did scoff at Liam's worth in the divorce settlement. A mere £5.5mil, the poor lamb.
tl;dr I think Gallagher fans are more likely to apply a five digit digital discount than Adele fans.

Wow........ELO outsold Noel with almost 8 full months head start? Wild. It's not "ELO", it's "Jeff Lynn's ELO" lol. That's is pretty crazy, the ELO album is ok, was listening to it last week but it's no way better than CY.

It did I mean it kept him in the charts and that's good, but I guess he (or at least his management) expected to sell a bit more On the other hand TDOTL had absolutely zero promotion,so God only knows what the fuck they're doing

I'm thrilled Jeff is doing well and that the comeback is getting the reception it deserves but I agree, the album in itself is nothing special apart from a few standout tracks; feels more like the Traveling Wilburys with added orchestra than classic ELO.

Obv i dont look for others promotion but guessing as a whole he had a lot of overall promotion which others didnt? i dont think that chart is right as say someone like meighan trainor for example was sort of neck and neck with him and in last 2 months really shot ahead and she's not had song out for 4-5 months / any press or anything is crazy :/

I agree with you anyway they probably expected the album to sell more during this period but their strategy failed I guess the problem is that they were trying to sell the album to an audience that has already bought it (Radio 2),so the chance to get that platinum disc (which is probably Noel and his management's real goal at this point) will come if he gets nominated/wins something at the Brits and wins something at the NME Awards, and then hopefully the tour (that somehow always manages to boost album sales) and the festivals season (assuming that he's headlining) will do the rest

Im sure radio X while much much smaller got a huge prospensity of potential buyers for a gallagher too. They like the NME you guaranteed they'll have a 'gallagher pic' / thing literally every day on their social media.. idk all irrelevant is what it is.. maybe festivals will gain momentum this year but didnt last year. brit awards should see a spike in theory tho. like we always say to be top 20 at this stage in career at least puts him on par with rod stewart, elo, as a 'heritage act' and still up with some of the 'real' music contemporaries so all good!

Idk when ever you buy anything or enter a comp it signs you up. Sure you had to watch the FB thing too? Think prior oasis sign ups send Noel stuff, ie if ever registered on any of gallagher websites. Anyway just an email saying this is coming out basically.
Not sure nowadays where you except info to come from? All the typical music sites still cover releases and tour dates etc
