I don't like Blur because I don't like Blur. That said I do want Noel to outsell them. I have the same philosophy with Muse.

Not liking all this blur hate, I gave the album a spin this evening and it sounded great. I think a lot of people on here seem to dislike blur purely because of the history between them and oasis. I can't wait to see them in Hyde Park in June, tickets came a few days back! I do like them, but I'm not convinced about the new record (yet). It'll be a grower, I expect. I'm hoping to catch them in Scandinavia (if they're coming).

Blur 43k...
They've already put it at 99p on Google Play though, but it will be tough to stay at number 1 with the Mumfords album out today

Well, if it's cheaper the chance of selling more gets bigger too.

Maybe even bigger than before as they ditched the banjo's and now sound the same as every other meat and potatoes band.

I don't like Blur because I don't like Blur. That said I do want Noel to outsell them. I have the same philosophy with Muse. Musically, I really like Muse. But those vocals...they get on my nerves. The singer sounds constipated. Belongs in an opera house, not in a rock band.

Blur have sold 14M Records worldwide. Media don't say that Because they love Blur but: Heathen Chemistry + SOTSOG + Don't believe the truth = around 15M. They always talk about the Country House vs. Roll With It but surprise , surprise they don't say that Morning glory almost sold 2x Blur's discography. Blur's The Magic Whip will sell less copies than CY, imho. And the Hyde Park gig isn't even sold out, I guess. But media won't say that a solo and independent Noel destroyed Blur without the name Oasis. This is the only thing I don't like about Oasis vs. Blur. Obviously there is a conspiracy afoot! Wait, there isn't, as the media mentions both of your points. In fact, one of the familiar refrains when both bands are discussed is that "Blur won the battle, but Oasis won the war." AKA Get a Life

Fucking embarrassment for them. And of course they're trying to sell it at a discount to keep it on the charts longer. Just think, if the UK is Blur's biggest market, the sales internationally are gonna be laughable if all they could manage was 43k here.

I wouldn't say it's an embarassment,it's good to see Noel outselling them tho The Prodigy first week sold around 45k too,Madonna didn't even reach 40k I think Noely actually doesn't get enough credit for how big he still is in the UK even as a solo act

Just further proof of their lack of relevancy. It only sold as much as it did because of Blur's former legacy, the nostalgia factor. "Blur" is a name brand. Music for corporate tossers.

The 'war' ended years ago and especially after Noel played tender with Damon. There is many many worse acts new and old out there who trade on either nostalgia or corporate music not sure why you'd focus on them.. has.. damon... touched you?

To download the album on Google Play... Thats fucking crazy, how are they supposed to make money from that? they wont but gives the album instantly more credibilty sales wise as history will show it album performing better to general public / in the current press etc the cost of the album wont be noted. (i've said this many times but NGHFB went to £5 pretty fast in scheme of things and it sold and sold at that price) Also if people impulse buy, and like it they may buy back catalogue or buy tour tickets which is what its all about
