Blur charting higher than Noel??? Where do you live man? Anyway if Noel is already out of the top 100 there, I can't imagine Blur would be there next week. They're no. 4 in Norway as well. Blur is bigger in Scandinavia than Oasis are nowadays. surely you mean blur are bigger than Gallagher releases? or if they are bigger than oasis it make sense as they just released an album vs oasis splitting nearing 6 years ago?

As much as I don't like Blur, I'd rather see them at number 1 than someone like, say Taylor Swift. I mean, sure, Blur aren't as bad as Taylor Swift or Justin Bieber or whoever else, but there are far more deserving bands.

There's an extended Top 200 chart that goes beyond what the OCC shows, but I believe you have to pay for it.

There's an extended Top 200 chart that goes beyond what the OCC shows, but I believe you have to pay for it. thats pretty irrelevant anything that not in the top 100 would be selling literally 100's of sales.. Riverman not officially released until a week on monday so lets see where it charts in 2 weeks time

Not necessarily. Now that streaming is included, you could have a single sell 5k copies, but if it doesn't get streamed enough, it wouldn't make the Top 100. Like all those singles that get released for Record Store Day as vinyl only exclusives that sell multiple thousands of copies but still don't chart.

Not liking all this blur hate, I gave the album a spin this evening and it sounded great.
I think a lot of people on here seem to dislike blur purely because of the history between them and oasis.
I can't wait to see them in Hyde Park in June, tickets came a few days back!

I like Blur but they will split up again soon enough. They actually had to take fucking therapy before they recorded the album because they couldn't stand each other, and I heard their performance on Jools was quite bad too. I mean, therapy! If you don't want to do it, then don't.
I guess they needed or wanted money.

Like all those singles that get released for Record Store Day as vinyl only exclusives that sell multiple thousands of copies but still don't chart. there wasn't many RSD releases that were released in multiple thousands... most was released only a few hundred RSD it's spread over 2 weeks so only the Saturday will count towards the the first weeks charts, then Sunday onwards is the next week, many people on here went to shops that were "sold out" on the saturday but had them the week after. Even with noel's release that was 2,000 copies banquet records had 150+ left to buy a week on Sunday after (so online sales makes RSD split over 3 weeks charts (and they still have 34 copies left to sell right now and his was a big release) I'd say those reason's and record shop manipulation is why they didnt chart. Also not all Indie shops submit their sales to the chart company for the charts. Anyway sure the figures are out there if you look them, Riverman is streamable, he's been promoting spotify on his blog etc so not hidden on streaming sites.

Wow people really are still trying to keep the Blur vs Oasis nonsense alive? Noel's gotten over it, so should you
The album is pretty great, says the fans and especially the critics, I obviously prefer Noel's but I don't hate Blur because they're not Oasis, which some obviously do here
It's 2015, not 1996

Blur have sold 14M Records worldwide. Media don't say that Because they love Blur but: Heathen Chemistry + SOTSOG + Don't believe the truth = around 15M.
They always talk about the Country House vs. Roll With It but surprise , surprise they don't say that Morning glory almost sold 2x Blur's discography.
Blur's The Magic Whip will sell less copies than CY, imho. And the Hyde Park gig isn't even sold out, I guess. But media won't say that a solo and independent Noel destroyed Blur without the name Oasis.
This is the only thing I don't like about Oasis vs. Blur.

I don't like Blur because I don't like Blur.
That said I do want Noel to outsell them.

Still waiting for Blur update. They're the biggest comparison for Noel with Mumford & Sons and Muse as of now.
