Hints have been posted on their official Facebook page, first was a map of Hyde Park, then a hand with 5 fingers followed by a photo of Julius, looks like a gig is likely for July 5th at Hyde Park.

Oasis only broke up 5 years ago and 'The Libertines' already reunite for the second time...

In all honesty I'd rather listen to James Blunt playing the hits of Phil Collins whilst having my balls sawn off than listen to the Libertines. I'm usually very respectful of other people music taste but they are the lowest of the low for me, I was an English 17 year old who loved guitar bands when they first album came out (prime target audience, you'd have thought), but even before Pete Doherty became the poster boy for smackheads and petty crime in the UK I thought they sounded shit. Even during their supposed 'pomp' I didn't notice any cultural change in Britain at the time. Bands such as the Strokes and Vines had a very greater impact in my opinion and most importantly had good songs (which correct me if I'm wrong a band is all about) and did it without being in the S*n for robbing their mates houses and turning up for charity events fucked out of their face on heroin. It winds me up when you see these so called music documentaries about the history of British Music and these clowns get credited with so much from the mid 00's. As a 17-19 year old at that time they had zero impact and I didn't notice any impact (I was a disciple of the NME as well at the time!) . It's only subsequently that this mistique has appeared around them. Rant over PS I won't be getting a ticket

I think the Babyshambles latest two records are really good and 'Fuck Forever' is a classic. But I never got into the Libertines though.

This is a band I could never really get into. Not sure why but it just never lasts for me.

The Hyde Park gig is announced tomorrow. I think they'll need quite a strong support for it to sell out.

They are a good band but they aren't that amazing.
They are "the" NME band/British Press over hyped band of the century. Both albums are good, their first one is close to being great. But let's be real, The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys have better albums.
Time For Heroes is a superb song and without a doubt their best song. Really like the first side of Up the Bracket with Vertigo, Horrowshow, Boys In the Band, all great songs, but it does kinda lose steam. I love their energy and their lyrics, but they aren't supremely gifted at crafting melodies in my opinion..
They were overhyped when they were a band and their legacy is overhyped. British press, ugh just really horrible in shoving bands in your face. They are decent and they are a fun band to listen to from time to time but they aren't saviors of rock n' roll.

This is a band I could never really get into. Not sure why but it just never lasts for me. Never bought into the Pete Doherty myth which NME painted him as a genius. A fat pale skin junkie ain't nothing to look up too and plus his songs ain't no masterstrokes. Get the fuck off, Up The Bracket was a nice change from the American indie we were getting, it's alright album with two of their greatest tracks left off it What a Waster and Don't look back into the Sun which they threw on later rereleases of Bracket.
I'd be very surprised if they sell out Hyde Park, even in their prime they barely sold any records. Babyshambles and Doherty's solo stuff barely charts and Carl Barat's solo and stuff with Dirty Pretty things didn't set the charts alight either.

Oh I'd say without NME wanking over them they wouldn't have got anywhere near the press they got. Doherty painted as he's a modern day Morrissey, fuck off NME. Has Doherty released anything as great as Queen is Dead???. I stopped getting any NME cover with that lot of middle class toffs with drama backgrounds, Barat looks like Captain Jack Sparrow and Doherty still looks like a fat Junkie. Tossers.

Just make sure you don't lube it up to much when you stick to Doherty.

The Enemy, The Pogues, The Twang, Reverend & the Makers and The View supporting apparently. Awful stuff, a collection of the worst lad-rock bands.

Is that geniune!!!!!? Spititualized, one of the most innovative and perfect sounding groups (or artist whatever you prefer) of the past 20 years supporting the fucking Libertines!?? There's more genius in the first 30 second of LAGWFIS than the Libertines could ever produce in their wildest drug infused dreams. It's like having Pink Floyd supporting The Twang
