Sky Full Of Stars is brilliant. I think it's a pretty good song, very catchy, but it's too much "party" for me. Too much electronic.

Well, well... good album. I gave it just one spin at the moment, but it's good. Miles better than Mylo Xyloto.
It's solid, dark, mellow, very electronic (especially the drumbeats)... but I didn't find it remarkable (I think that ASFOS and Magic are the most catchy songs on the record). There's a lack of a GREAT moment in my opinion.
Magic, Oceans and O are personal favorites.
Better than MX, better than X&Y... but isn't on the level of A Rush Of Blood To The Head, Viva la Vida or Parachutes. 6.5(maybe 7)/10 for now.

On first listen, the album has amazing production - it really is a fantastic piece of work that's been done there. I pray to God that Noel would enter the 21st century and have production like this.
I really like the album, pleasant and understated, hints of Coldplay's darker songs from the past. A wee bit too gushy and cheesy at times which they've been criminal of the past few years but thankfully it's never overblown. A Sky Full of Stars is a brilliant pop song, though it sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of the album because of it's overblown production - for a start, Coldplay could utilise the guitarist and bass player more instead of getting some Swedish bloke to plaster synths all over the tune.
I'll have to listen to it more but I love the subdued nature of it, and the whole album has a very melancholic feel to it, so the classic Coldplay feel is back, if not reaching the heights of the first two albums. I must say I had my knives sharpened for this album after Coldplay being in the 'bad books' after the last album, but I can't find major faults with this album.

am I the only one who didn't really like this album, I thought it was bait whiny and slow at times. After Mylo Xyloto which is one of my favourite albums of all times it was quite disappointing to hear this but maybe thats just me

Thought the album was pretty good on first listen. Midnight and Another's Arms were the highlights for me, the former in particular, I was hoping there would be more songs on the album like it. The bonus tracks didn't really do anything for me.

Yeah........I've been waiting a long long time for Noel to stop trying to make an album that is trying to sound like the 60s. We have all been following Oasis related projects since 1994, SOTSOG and BE are the best production jobs we have been given. We need more.

The bonus tracks are kinda boring. I guess "Ghost Stories" is the best of the three. Has a AROBTTH vibe.

When it comes to writing lyrics Chris Martin's lack of effort is really beginning to grate on me.
I suppose the lyrics on Ghost Stories are candid, intimate, bearing in mind the subject matter, but for the most part I find them ordinary.
It's a shame, really, because otherwise I think the album's spot on.

Now he seems hell bent on trying to get one up on One Direction by writing cheesy love lyrics. I suppose his vocal style adds a sense of vulnerability to the lyrics along with the sad melodies, but other than dodgy lyrics, everything is spot on definitely.

Gonna try and give this a listen tonight. Don't know how I feel about the "first solo album from Chris Martin" comments. Martin is a really talented melodist but Jonny Buckland has always been a bit underrated for me. His lead playing on songs like Hurts Like Heaven is one of the highlights on an otherwise messy album.

Where are the songs??? Seriously, despite the production, there's nothing out there...
Give me a bad production but great songs (DM, AROBTTH...) instead of this.

Sky Full Of Stars is brilliant. It's almost too sweet if that makes any sense. It's got way too many "pop" elements going on.

This album has really grown on me too. O is arguably their best closer ever, and it's such a sad song, it must surely resonate with anyone with a soul.
Overall, the album is dripping in melancholy. The lyrics are so simple, but sung around such sad melodies gives weight to the words I feel. It's not a classic album by any means, but the album as a whole coveys a mood of sombreness and reflection that I haven't had from Coldplay in a long long time.
This is arguably their best since A Rush of Blood To The Head, and certainly their 'tightest' and most well knitted album they've made, which comes as a massive relief after the messy Mylo Xyloto, which I feel gave no hint of any real emotion.

You are dead on, "O" is a fantastic song. I'm not sure if it's my favorite Coldplay album closer yet. That title still goes to "Amsterdam" although "The Escapist" is rather unique too. The albums strengths are the production and tightness surrounding the entire LP. Mylo was messy in concept but did contain some outrageously good tunes like Hurts Like Heaven and Charlie Brown. I still listen to 4-5 songs off that album regularly. If I had to rank Coldplay albums I'd go.... 1) A Rush of Blood To The Head 2) Parachutes 3) Ghost Stories 4) Viva La Vida or Death And All of His Friends 5) X&Y 6) Mylo Xyloto Coldplay were always at their best when melancholy.

Had a few listens to the album so far, it isn't top notch Coldplay still Think their Debut, AROBTTH and Viva la Vida are better albums but I'd put it ahead of X and Y and MX.
Sky full of stars sticks out badly when heard on the album, still the weakest song on the album.
Magic is still wonderful, True Love and O especially will go down as Coldplay classic's. Midnight sounds great in the context of the album. Always in my Head, Ink (does this sound like Tracey Chapman's Fast Cars or is it just me?), Oceans and Another's Arm's are good album tracks.
It's a perfect return to form after the poptastic MX.
It won't trouble any album of the year charts but it's a step back in the right direction musically. the lyrics are not great.

Sky full of stars sticks out badly when heard on the album, still the weakest song on the album. Give over. I understand Avicii's production isn't to everyone's taste, but I honestly reckon they judged that one perfectly.

Not my cup of tea mate, one of the reasons I hate MX so much, I don't like Poppy dancey Coldplay.
Maybe you like bobbing around you're room to it but everything else on the album is great.
