In Transit is a really good song. One of the best songs from various side projects that The Strokes members have. GfC is really good as well and better than anything on the new Strokes album. I haven't given Albert's new EP a listen but his first two albums are solid, albeit a little generic or safe. Julian's solo work is hit and miss. The Strokes are kinda becoming the new Oasis in some respects. The first two albums are easily their best. First Impressions of Earth was bloated (like BHN) but had a couple great songs on there (the first four tracks are pretty great). Angels has some good ideas but has some of the shittiest Strokes tracks (Metabolism, You're So Right). But Comedown Machine is just really really bland (Like HC). Its not bad by any means (unlike HC) but I just can't justify putting it on. Tap Out and Welcome to Japan are the best two but they aren't too memorable. Angels at least had Machu Picchu, Under Cover Of Darkness, Taken For A Fool, Gratisfaction, Life Is Simple In The Moonlight, Two Kinds Of Happiness are all listenable and enjoyable. They are good-great. Julian seems content making throwback synth stuff which is all good and well but a lot his songs now really lack great hooks and melodies. I'm always interested in his work but man Phoenix does what he (and the Strokes) are trying to do, but Phoenix does it a lot better. S.O.S. In Bel Air is a song that I wish the Strokes could write but they seem so disinterested (even when I saw them back in 2011). Good analogy. Those songs listed are great and elevate the album. I don't know why the album gets panned so much. It's obviously not on par with the first two albums but it's far better than Comedown Machine IMO Albert says "new" Strokes album on the way for 2015. Yawn. www.nme.com/news/the-strokes/76468

New Cloud Nothings is superb. They continue to be one of the best, if not the best pop/punk rock band around.
Now Here In, No Thoughts, I'm Not Part Of Me are damn good rock n' roll songs. They've done an album with Wavves as well and that should be interesting. Wavves' last album was a bit to wanna-be Nirvana for me, but King of The Beach was great and a lot of fun. This project could be really good both know out to rock and hopefully Wavves can throw in some of their stoner surf punk elements into the project.

Idlewild release a new album this year, should be great. It's been five years since their last one.

I was at their show at the Ryman last night. Told us they did something there. They played Pinkerton in full. It was amazing to hear those songs live. All the songs on it are superb but the run from Across the Sea to Pink Triangle was fantastic. They played a greatest hit set before the Pinkerton set and it was okay for me. They played Island in the Sun, Keep Fishin, Perfect Situation (one of the better ones on Make Believe), Buddy Holly, which was great but they played about 4 from their recent stuff (2008 onwards) and it was just "meh" bass player sung some song that was like Nickelback. Played one new songs that was pretty decent sounded like some of the stuff off of Maladroit (which is my 3rd favorite Weezer album). I mean why play that shit when you have stuff like the tracks on Blue. I understand they played Blue in full the night before but come on the tickets were pricey enough. Wish I coulda heard Only In Dreams but it was a great show none the less. Absolutely fantastic crowd. Ryman crowds are like most theater crowds (mellow) but the place was rockin last time. One of the best crowds I've been in, in a while. Everyone was singing, standing up, hands in the air, made it that much better.

I love Pinkerton....i think it was once frowned upon or underrated, maybe.... Weezer do put on a great live show....saw them about ten years ago. dead of summer, front row near the pyrotechnics, wearing a jacket (i just bought the jacket and wanted to wear it because i'm an idiot.), 1,000 degrees. loved it. God bless.

The Smashing Pumkins will release their "Adore" reissue this coming summer. News out of the SP camp is that tracklisting for the upcoming ‘ADORE’ box set is now complete. The 6-disc set will feature the original album in stereo (as remastered by Bob Ludwig), the album as it was released in mono (here for the first time on CD), plus an additional 3 discs of unreleased material and a live DVD, taken from the band’s charity tour of 1998. A summer release is expected. From Billy: “One thing that might excite fans of the album is that we were able to go back and locate elements from the original sessions that were stored digitally, but never used; such as some of the brilliant work done by Bon Harris. In that fresh mixes have been commissioned, shedding new light on not only the songs hidden foundations, but their futuristic nature as well. “www.smashingpumpkinsnexus.com/I've actually pretty excited for this. It is my favorite Pumpkins album and extremely underrated in my book.

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart's new album leaked. I really enjoyed their first two albums. Both of them are pretty great albums, hopefully they continue the streak. This has been a really impressive year so far for music. Will probably rank some of my favorites this weekend, seeing as we are a 1/3 way done with the year. "Pains" are really nice group of people (at least the people who toured Belong).

New single from The Black Keys "Turn Blue". People are talking about Noel leaving Sardy, but the Black Keys need to switch up the production. I'm a fan Danger Mouse's production but the guy literally has one sound/style. Everything from Broken Bells to Norah Jones they all have the fuzzy, cartoony, laid back sound. The Black Keys have become increasing more neutered with each release. El Camino was made up from recycled t-rex riffs which is nice enough if you want some guitar riff-age but they just don't rock anymore on record. I was never their biggest fan but damn they've kinda taken the place of Kings Of Leon in a sense that they are a good rock band that just lost it whenever they hit the big time. Not uncommon, I know but still disappointing. It's not a bad song but I can't be fucked to listen to it.
