Wu-Tang Clan - Once upon a Time In Shaolin. This better fucking leak since I don't have a spare million or two in my bank.

The Hold Steady - Teeth Dreams
Oh, wait, it was released this past week. And it's fucking brilliant.
I dare myself to find a better 2014 release, because I don't see anything topping this poetic artistry of an album.
Pure brilliance, as The Hold Steady have always been.

Oh, and for what it's worth Craig Finn (The Hold Steady) is MILES and MILES ahead of Alex Turner.
Finn is a fucking genius for his song writing. The references, the character studies, the repeated story lines running concurrent in albums, and across albums, too is just utterly phenomenal.
There's no band out there like THS.
If you haven't checked into THS you're missing out on a mind blowing band.

At this point i think he needs them more then they need him. The music Albert is releasing is much better than Julians. Plus the new nband is horrible they looked awful at Lollapalooza

God bless.

Plus the new nband is horrible they looked awful at Lollapalooza I've stopped considering The Strokes a real band. They've been fractured for a long time and didn't even tour their last album. All members have active side bands and projects. You kinda get the feeling they only make Strokes albums to please their dwindling fan base. It has no soul.

Looking forward to Jack White's new album, like the new song. Strange to release an instrumental as the first song though.

They clearly can't stand being in the same room together. I know most people don't like it but I really enjoy Angles. Think it's their third best album.

From his last EP that's alright..... prefer Julian's solo material. i'm almost certain Julian writes everything for the Strokes, so in theory his solo material should be decent and reflect the former. Albert does get points for having a naked chick in his video....probably his real life girlfriend. good for him, she's hot. God bless.

Julian use to write everything and still writes the majority of their music but the band has more input now.

Jack White's swamp song.

In Transit is a really good song. One of the best songs from various side projects that The Strokes members have. GfC is really good as well and better than anything on the new Strokes album. I haven't given Albert's new EP a listen but his first two albums are solid, albeit a little generic or safe. Julian's solo work is hit and miss.
The Strokes are kinda becoming the new Oasis in some respects. The first two albums are easily their best. First Impressions of Earth was bloated (like BHN) but had a couple great songs on there (the first four tracks are pretty great). Angels has some good ideas but has some of the shittiest Strokes tracks (Metabolism, You're So Right). But Comedown Machine is just really really bland (Like HC). Its not bad by any means (unlike HC) but I just can't justify putting it on. Tap Out and Welcome to Japan are the best two but they aren't too memorable.
Angels at least had Machu Picchu, Under Cover Of Darkness, Taken For A Fool, Gratisfaction, Life Is Simple In The Moonlight, Two Kinds Of Happiness are all listenable and enjoyable. They are good-great.
Julian seems content making throwback synth stuff which is all good and well but a lot his songs now really lack great hooks and melodies. I'm always interested in his work but man Phoenix does what he (and the Strokes) are trying to do, but Phoenix does it a lot better. S.O.S. In Bel Air is a song that I wish the Strokes could write but they seem so disinterested (even when I saw them back in 2011).

I don't know why the album gets panned so much. It's obviously not on par with the first two albums but it's far better than Comedown Machine IMO
