Listened to the preview clips on iTunes, but thats it. Seems like everyone who pre-ordered from Jimi's site or Piccadilly Records had it in the post on Saturday morning. Suprised it's not leaked yet on somewhere like newalbumreleases or exystence. Are there any others work checking these days? |

The Horrors' new album's leaked, quite like it on first listen, though not sure it's as good as Skying. I'll give it another few listens this week.
Listened to Foster the People's new album as well and thought it was alright but nothing special.

Heard Supermodel by Foster The People today,great record,not better than their debout though
They're definitely one of the best bands around today
Highlights for me are Coming Of Ange,A Beginner's Guide To Destroying The Moon and The Truth

Just finished listening to the new Horrors album for the first time. It is a really solid and enjoyable listen. Faris Badwan has really become a good singer. The band has tighten up as well and it seems that they've found their niche sound with this release. It's an album that will require some more listens but right off the bat I'm liking it. Maybe 1-2 songs that I'm apathetic about but about half of it is really great.
I've also listened to The War On Drugs new album and it's really good too. Hear a lot of Dire Straits and Petty in there. Kinda of reminds me of Ryan Adams too for some reasons, maybe I'm hoping he makes an album like this or something. It has a lot of critical praise and will probably appear on a lot of end of the year lists. I'm not gonna say it's that good but it is a really really enjoyable listen. It has only gotten better with repeated listens.

I'm pretty impressed with the Jimi Goodwin solo album. Initially I was worried every song would sound like the single "Oh! Whiskey". Happy to report the album has many sounds and facets. If you love Doves you'll probably love this too. |

If you love Doves you'll probably love this too. Gonna have to check it out. Doves are just a really underrated band. I wouldn't say that they are consistently greats as a band like Spoon or something but none of their albums are bad. They are all pretty close to being at least great. Also I gave Future Islands new album a listen. I'm surprised with just how great it is. These dudes are from my neck of the woods in NC and I think this album is great. I hope they get some love. Choosing Chris Coady as a producer was an excellent choice. He just knows what to add to a band whether thats Beach House, Smith Westerns, or Future Islands. Seasons (Waiting On You) and A Dream of You and Me are two of the best songs that I've heard this year. I can be pretty picky with my synth-pop but this is unique and expertly crafted album. |
