It was on principle. He took sides. I dont watch Cowboy games because I'm a Giants fan. But music isn't sports. It's art. No need for battlefields. I agree that it is art and you should like what ever your ears love but I guess the Hyden piece is focusing on the fact that there aren't any bands that inspire a rivalry like Blur vs Oasis or Tupac/Biggie. It is cool that everyone (bands, artists, etc.) is friendly and cool with each other but I do kinda miss competition aspect of music. Competition in music is inspiring to a degree and it could yield better art.

Boy is he in for a real treat when he goes back and spins Parklife, Gorillaz, etc.

After listening to the album almost non-stop, I really like it. Especially Lonely Press Play, Photographs, Heavy Seas Of Love and "Me" (or the second part of You&Me ) .

Does the the Brian Eno melody line in Heavy Seas Of Love remind anybody of another song. All I can come up with is Daydream Believer or some Micheal Jackson Ballad. Its driving me crazy. Love the album though.

After having listened to the acoustic version of "Heavy Seas of Love" in which Damon sings the verses as well and not Eno, I wish he'd have sung them on the record as well..

one of my favourite gorillaz songs (and he is coming to argentina in october, ) Brilliant I love his solo shows (judging by youtube videos and the setlists). You get his solo stuff, The Good The Bad & The Queen, Gorillaz and Blur...fantastic! A great, great man.

He played a bit of everything ranging from his solo work, which is a live context surprisingly sounds fantastic, to Blur (played Out of Time), to The Good Bad and the Queen (Kingdom of Doom), to Gorillaz (with guests). The crowd was pretty small (given the context that he was on the biggest stage) but it was one of the better crowds at the festival. Damon said he had never had a US gig like it and it was a dream come true for him. Really happy to get the opportunity to see him and that he seemed to really enjoy himself there.

I saw the streaming, amazing show, you can see damon is really enjoying this tour. He looks more happy now than when he is with blur, and has less pressure than when he is with gorillaz. He even played a couple songs that weren't in the setlist. I hope he plays "dying isn't easy" at some point

The band he's put together is great and it seems like they all get along very well. So I hope this won't be the only bigger tour, 'cause unfortunately I couldn't see him when he came to Germany. Does anyone know if he said if there'll be another european tour after the festivalseason? Oh and what did he say to your idea of him signing DM? great :-D
