What is it that they use here when the best post in the thread come up , ? Oh yea THIS To take a line from what someone previously said. BANG ON I'm not opposed to a friendly discussion about the merits of Rap, but this is not the arena for such discussion and it never should be. Agreed

To you maybe it's not music but millions upon millions of people would disagree with you.Kanye's new album is also hitting number 1. Can't think of any recent albums that will outsell it? Now we all agree that album sales are not everything but Kanye put his money where his big mouth is with this album and it has been a success. I will admit it would have been a disaster if someone with like Kanye a big mouth, huge ego etc released an album that didn't really do much chart wise. Currently pressing play on 'Yeezus' as we speak. Definitely my most played album of the last few months. Rap appeals to the lowest common denominator and there are millions of those out there. For someone who sheds a tear and cries foul every time someone uses foul/discriminatory language on this forum, I find your general acceptance of rap and Kanye West so amazingly hypocritical. Some of the words he uses are unacceptable and his songs are downright filthy both content wise and lyrically. For example... Disgusting to say the least. It's amazing how you of all people can't stand it when people on the forum use 'unacceptable' language but then on the other hand you choose to voluntarily listen to and enjoy this man's 'music'.

This only reveals how small-minded some people are when it comes to music. Even Noel liked rap and, frankly, if music like Public Enemy, The Roots, J. Dilla, De La Soul, and Black Star are for the "lowest common dominator" than Beady Eye are surely only fit for the brain dead.

You seem to think this trash is some kind of hidden art form that only the elite intellects amongst up get, when really it's just ridiculously wealthy men talking really quickly about "bangin' hoes" and so on to a music video of them layered in tacky jewellery, sat in a fancy car (a Porsche for example...) with some shallow young girl barely wearing anything (Kim Kardashian...). I'm not small-minded in my taste in music, but I do like music and this trash can't be considered as proper music imo Noel probably liked the early examples of rap, which to be fair was quite good at times but the likes of Kanye West and 50 Cent that we have today are just terrible

Well done! No, we can't bring up artists like Mos Def, Kendrick Lamar, EL-P, or GZA or even Kanye's earlier material; rather, we have to look at our own limited exposure of the genre and form an opinion based on that. No, nothing small minded about that at all.

To me rap is another type of music, and hip hop artists like Big L, Kanye, Notorious B.I.G., Rakim, and many others' music will live on forever

Definitely agree that yeezus is one of the best albums of the year so far.
Of course you will always get narrow minded people leaping upon a genre of music they don't understand and attacking it. It's happened throughout history even when rock and roll became big you had the dinosaur folk condemning it as filth.
Same thing happening here. If you think rap has no message you should listen to Plan B'd ill manors album all the way through. He has more worthwhile things to say in that album than beady eye will in their whole career.

This is not a music forum.... this is a forum about a specific musical act and their by products, Oasis. I doubt that many rap forums discuss Oasis on a regular basis. Again, I have no issue with Rap at all, but why even bring it up in this setting? If you drop your opinion of Yeezus in the 'Last album I Listened to' thread then fine, but starting a new thread to discuss the album on an Oasis forum is simply a ploy to rile people up. Really uncalled for.

It is laughable to think that some people will get "riled up" over a thread discussing hip-hop/rap and I highly doubt OP created this thread to anger anyone.

Really uncalled for. I guess people should stop discussing Tame Impala and Sterophonics in this section as well then. Nothing offensive was said by the dude who started the thread like "this pisses over BE or HFB" so I don't see what the issue is here.

I think @kitjenson the problem lies with the new setup of the forum , when you look now at the setup the most recent post from any sub board shows ( on my iPad anyways )
So you don't really know where the post originated from , he posted it in right spot (the thread ) years ago you or I would not even have seen it as it was in rock and roll star which is for other bands , I only stayed in oasis boards , did not know the lounge comedians well ,or lovers of other music , or sound and vision people .
Now though we are all lumped into 1 board it seems , you tap most recent thread and you see the most recent post be it in a bdi section a Nghfb section or other bands or lounge , it creates friction as these are people that in the old days would not really interact , I never looked at who posted what in the area he posted his thread it had no interest to me , but when it's right in front of me or anyone it's easy to reply ,,IMO So if a certain brand of music did not interest you then it was easy to ignore ya know ?
I have no issue with anyone who wants to talk of rap , it was much easier to avoid it when the recent thread option was not available .

When words such as those are used in an artistic sense it is both challenging and at times poetic. Brilliant, so the next time someone uses some offensive/discriminatory language please don't play the victim and start yet another thread, because there isn't a bigger example of hypocrisy on this forum than the comment you just made.

I may not be a big rap fan but anyone that writes off a whole genre is bordering on pathetic. I'm amazed at how much rap bashing there is...not just Kanye bashing. Besides which the idea of anyone on an Oasis forum dismissing an artist on the grounds that their public persona is arrogant and egotistical all makes me laugh.
