Still think this record is a bit messy and overwrought. There's a lot of dope idea's and tracks on there with Relektor,Here Comes the Night Time, It's Never Over (Oh Orpheus), We Exist and Porno. Got some solid, if a bit lackadaisical typical arcade fire songs You Already Know, Afterlife, Normal Person. It's just one of those records that seems so heavy, long, and emotionally draining that I can't really love it or really like it all that much, but I admire the evolution. Its not a bad record per say, but no where near being a great, in my opinion. Funeral and The Suburbs continue to be two of my favorite records of the 00's, but when arcade fire gets a little to self serious or heavy I just can't get into them as much, aka: Neon Bible and about half of Reflektor). Like to hear why you guys like so much it? Get a fun dialog going. I still really enjoy Reflektor. Can't believe it came out almost 2 years ago. Seems like only yesterday.................... For me Reflektor has a "White Album" feel to it. Not in terms of cultural impact but vast genres contained on the LP. For example, the song Reflektor is like an evil disco burner, We Exist has STRONG Michael Jackson homages, Here Comes The Night Time is a modern Talking Heads song, Normal Person is straight up Neil Young & Crazy Horse rock n roll, You Already Know has a Smiths like bounce, It's Never Over is straight up Prince, Afterlife is the best New Order song they never wrote, Porno and SuperSymmetry are pure LCD SuperSymmetry. I respect Arcade Fire for being so bold and eclectic after The Suburbs won the Grammy of Album of the Year in 2011. They could have easily have made Suburbs Part II but they didn't and probably won't return to it. They keep.....pushing forward.

Like to hear why you guys like so much it? Get a fun dialog going. It's hard to explain but just feels right. It has a groove (I don't know if that's the right word) that the other albums don't have.Maybe it's the constant bass line through out the album. As Lennon said it takes all these influences, shakes the around and all fits on the same album. Regine is pushed a little more in the background than the other albums but when she gets her little parts she really shines. Her appearances on other albums, with the exception of Sprawl II, were always the weak spots on the record for me. On Reflektor her voice never sounded better. Her parts on Joan of Arc and Reflektor are the highlights of the album. The album is longer than the Suburbs but feels much shorter to me.

Some interesting points y'all. Thanks for responding. Yeah Lennon2217 I definitely get White Album vibes just from the scope and musicality of it. Sternumman yeah the groove, Murphy's production, and Regine are easily the two favorite aspects of the album for me. I've always liked Regine, but her voice in particular sounds great on here. For a band that has influences around the world, I kinda want them to do more island vibe stuff. All their albums have hints but I'd love to have some more steel drum and other sunny vibes. Always feels like the band is carrying an emotional anvil on their back. I'd love for them to have some more lighthearted stuff musically, but maybe that's not their thing.

While the album isn't quite up there with Funeral or The Suburbs (not much is) the title track is still my favourite Arcade Fire song. An absolute monster of a song. It's got pretty much everything you want in an Arcade Fire song and more.
Looking forward to this film, seems like it will be similar to Mirror Noir in that it's part live and the rest is making the album and in this case them in Haiti. I think the live footage is from their Earls Court gigs but it'd be nice if some of the early Reflketors gigs made it in. Their gig at the Barrowlands in Glasgow on that tour is my favourite gig. Everything about it was perfect. My favourite band playing an intimate gig at my favourite venue with all the added stuff like them turning up with a Mariachi band, the formal dress etc, never been to another gig like it.

I love their distinct brand of music. You know instantly when an Arcade Fire song is playing much like you know when watching a film if it is a Wes Anderson or Quentin Tarantino film. It's a unique world. Each album is a wild chapter in their magnum opus. I also really respect how they want to make each album an experience to behold. These days when most people could care less about owning complete albums, Arcade Fire continue to have interesting album launches and musical themes. It makes the music hit on another level and brings some excitement back into a dying industry of instant streams and iTunes singles. It's obvious this band cares about creating art and want to take you on a ride. Both in the studio and out on the road. It's an absolute pleasure to listen to an Arcade Fire album.

Really like the Anderson and Tarantino comparison. Might have to throw the Coen brothers in there as well. It'd be fun to compare AF albums to movies. I really appreciate the fact that they put forth the effort in not only challenging themselves musically, but also in other artistic mediums. I might not dig all their work, but I'll always pay attention and admire them for their fearlessness.

Word around the camp fire is that Arcade Fire is releasing a 7" single of "Get Right" and "Crucified Again" on September 25. Awesome news. Both songs left over from Reflektor. Even more strong is a "cassette" tape is going on sale for them on the same day. No idea what's on that.

I never even watched their previous rock doc (Miroir noir) rom Neon Bible. I heard it was boring and choppy. I'm just happy we are getting a new single out of this project.

I saw Arcade Fire a year ago (read, I was tired as fuck and sat in the grass next to the stage while I was listening). Sounded great, I should definitely check out more of their work.

Get Right is great, should have been on the album instead of Flashbulb Eyes. Crucified Again is pretty dull though, one of my least favourite Arcade Fire songs.
