Actually makes me want another Oasis album - imagine Soul Love, Iz Rite, Just Saying and Start Anew with 6 Noel-written, Liam-sung songs. That would have been an incredible album. Start Anew with a noel written [and sung?] bridge! the first cross Gallagher effort! I like Start Anew as it is but if anyone could improve it then Noel is the man.

Don't think it needs any improving really, also it's a totally different song to what Noel usually writes so not sure if he would be much use

At first I hated it. Huge let down cuz after the first few positive reviews and hearing FOTF my expectations where quite high.
That was then, this is now. It took me 4-5 listens to fall in love with this album. Now I find it hard to name a song I dislike. Maybe not a big fan of DBM. But tunes like Soul Love, I'm Just saying, Start Anew are in a loop on my iPod.
Few months ago I went with my 6 months pregnant girlfriend to see Noel in Bangkok. Now I'm listening to Facet The Crowd and dancing with my 5 months old baby girl. Still mad fer it.

Alright I wanted to hear it a couple of times before I commented. Here it is: 1- Flick of the Finger Great tune, really simple and addictive, love the horns and does not outstay its welcome. 2- Soul Love One of my favourite songs off the record. It's really dark and dry. There's something in the piano at the end that reminds me of The Turning which was one of my favourite off of DOYS. 3- Face The Crowd It's OK. No more, no less. It's a basic rock and roll. I don't skip it but it's nothing special to me. 4- Second Bite of the Apple Off-putting at first but I like it. Again the horns are awesome. Very interesting intrumentation and percussions. 5- Soon Come Tomorrow Good song. I like the vibe. 6- Iz Rite Don't like that one at all. It has Gem written all over it. I may be wrong but this is in the same vein as A Bell Will Ring and To Be Where There's Life but not as good. I skip it most of the time. 7- I'm Just Saying My favourite song off the record. Great music, great melody, back vocals. The only thing I don't like is "1 2 3, you and me, 7 8 9, no wasting time" which sounds too much like a kid's song to me. 8- Don't Brother Me Great song. Unlike some, I actually like the long ending. I get the impression that Liam finally got to use the hoover-like sounds he wanted to use to mimic "She's So Heavy" back in the Heathen Chemistry era. The only thing is that, when he sings "Did you shoot your gun" I immediatly hear If I Had a Gun in my head. 9- Shine a Light Same type of vibe than Soon Come Tomorrow but faster. Not my favourite song off the record but it's ok. 10- Ballroom Figured Again another ok song. No more, no less. A little repetitive. But I don't skip it either. 11- Start Anew Lovely closing number. Really like this one. Can't really say anything more, it's so simple. 12- Dreaming of some Space This song should have been included on every version of the album right after Start Anew. Both together are really cool (obviously). 13- The World's Not Set In Stone That song reminds me a lot of Wigwam. It would have been perfect on DGSS. It's ok but it's a good thing they didn't put it on the record because it wouldn't fit at all. It's a completely different vibe. 14- Back After The Break A downer of a song. But it's good. Reminds of something but I can't put my finger on what. The Verve maybe but I'm not sure. 15- Off at the Next Exit Nice one! The piano is beautiful. 16- Girls in Uniform Absolutely hate this one. The lyrics are just ridiculous, the effects on Liam's voice are aweful and it's sounds too much like The Monkeys. 17- Evil Eye The beginning is quite Pink Floyd-ish right until the acoustic guitar kicks in. Otherwise it's an ordinary song. If I skipped it I wouldn't feel I missed out on anything. Definitely a record to buy! 7.5/10 The only thing I always find funny is Liam always talking about how he's rock and roll and the "New balls please" comment about NGHFB. But this record is not a rock and roll record. It's got rock songs on it yes but the majority are acoustic number talking about love (which is alright). But is Liam going soft?

But is Liam going soft? I think yes, cause, first he sound 20140 times better in soft songs, second, now he can realize he's beatles fascination by making songs in this type.

Just got my copy of deluxe version today and listened to the whole album for the first time.
It's a good album. Totally different than what we normally except from Liam Gallagher. I'm loving this nice surprise. I really like "Ballroom Figured", next to "Soul Love", "soon Come Tomorrow" and "Flick Of The Finger". Sure there's no typical "Rocker" on this album, but I would have got bored quite quickly if this new album only would have had songs like "Three RIng Circus", "Millionaire" and "Standing on the edge of the noise".
This album is mature.

Finally sat down and gave it a good listen last night. And I really like it. I liked 'DGSS', but I guess this seems like a more thought out album (which is understandable). Liam sounds great on it as well.

My album arrived in the post this morning, sitting outside with a beer in the sun blasting BE out, what an album it is.

It's incredible it really is.
Not a bad on it song for mine. Soon Come Tomorrow lives up to the hype from you lot that's for sure. But suppose low points like Face the Crowd and especially Shine a Light are really good to. I dig it, awesome.

The LP is a great package, especially the inclusion of a massive poster The lyrics to Dreaming Of Some Space are also a funny read.

Been listening since last week and I have to say, I think it's great.
With most albums I get to a point within a few days where there are maybe 2-3 tracks that I tend to skip, but I'm not doing that yet. I'm also finding that my favourite track keeps changing (somenody else mentioned this on another thread), which to me is a good sign.
To me it's another step towards Beady Eye having their own sound away from Oasis (if that makes sense), and I'm looking forward to seeing where it hopefully goes in the future.

Meh!! Very average album at best. The stand out track's for me are Iz Rite and Off at the Next Exit which are both superb.
The rest of it is just ok.
Not overly impressed at all. I doubt this will keep Noel awake at night with worry.

But this is based on one listen, it could change, for better or worse. Either way it beats DGSS by miles, an album which was dead to me before it's first breath.

Really enjoying the bonus tracks as well.
Chuffed with this album. And most people I've spoken to it agree.

Love the album more and more I listen to it, I find it really rare to like so many songs from a single album, I think WTSMG was the last album I could listen to without skipping. Yes BE has a few songs which I won't listen to but the majority of it sounds great!

If I play an album, I never skip tracks. I can't understand how people do that.

Well I just played my dad most of the album [10,11,5,6,7,8,9] and he liked what he heard. That's a very good sign!

On first listen I'm hugely underwhelmed.
Flick of the Finger is the best song on there by miles. After that it's slim pickings.
Iz Rite is decent - and Second Bite of the Apple sounds better because the rest of it is so average.
Ironically one of my favourite tracks (I've got the deluxe edition) is Back After the Break, which didn't even make the album proper.
Production's decent, just don't think the songs are good enough. Sorry.
Hopefully this will change after a few more listens...
