If I play an album, I never skip tracks. I can't understand how people do that. Really? You never just think to yourself "Man, I really want to listen to I'm Just Saying" and then skip through the tracks to the specific song? My entire collection of music is digital. I open up Windows Media Player, press play and have it set to shuffle. If I want to hear a certain song, I do.

If I want to just play IJS, I will just play IJS, but most of the time I'm an album person. the majority of my music collection is Vinyl, with CDs coexisting mainly for my car. My digital collection is just what i have on CD, bootlegs and *ahem* acquired digital copies of what i have on vinyl [I've bought it once, why buy it again!]. I refuse to buy music digitally, especially since everything i tend to want is available physically.

It's a cool album, very different to DGSS. I really liked DGSS but stopped listening after a while, i loved Wigwam at first and now i can't really stand it.
Love Shine a Light, how could not love the back vocals? I'm not sure why people don't dig this as much.
Highs: Flick of the finger, soul love, iz rite, shine a light, start anew, back after the break, off at the next exit
Lows: Face the crowd, Girls In Uniform
The rest is ok.

I must admit some of the songs i used to skip (Face the crowd, just saying) i'm now really enjoying. On DGSS i used to really dislike a few of the songs (SOTEOTN), but this albums superb. The deluxe version makes it even better as the 'deluxe' songs arent just filler, they really are good songs. Loving Evil Eye, nice simple song but flows really well. Worlds not set in stone i really like, helped seeing them play it at Warrington.
Think we're in for a treat with gigs this year, i mean this albums very good, we'll also get a few off DGSS probably Roller/Four Letter Word etc and then the two Oasis songs. Should be a great gig.
Hope the album does well so they can announce a proper tour, cant wait to see them at Manchester Ritz but would like to see some more dates announced soon.

On first listen I'm hugely underwhelmed. Flick of the Finger is the best song on there by miles. After that it's slim pickings. Iz Rite is decent - and Second Bite of the Apple sounds better because the rest of it is so average. Ironically one of my favourite tracks (I've got the deluxe edition) is Back After the Break, which didn't even make the album proper. Production's decent, just don't think the songs are good enough. Sorry. Second Bite Of The Apple--better Rest of album--Average Does not compute. Sorry if this blows your mind - but music is SUBJECTIVE.

Bought the Deluxe album yesterday so I've been having a listen through it a few times. It definitely takes a few listens, first seemed a little underwhelming. Besides Flick and Start Anew nothing really jumps out at you. But I'm now starting to see a few songs coming through. Straight away the bonus tracks OATNE and BATB should have found a place on the album. Shine A Light and Face The Crowd are sounding good. I'll give it a few more listens before I give a full opinion.

Listened to "Evil Eye" for the first time. This song is better than any song they've done before. I'm loving this song. Why on the earth it wasn't on the album, LIAM!!!

Ahhh...This album is starting to click now!!
As with any new album, I'm analytical with it. Instead of letting the songs flow, I'll judge everything about them. On 4th or 5th listen now, played most of the album again earlier and it really flows quite well without a weak song on the album. Though some are stronger than the others and without a killer track besides Flick.
Flick Of The Finger.
Epic. Exactly the type of swaggering, rock n roll I love Liam doing. He carries it better than anyone and he's in top form here. Love the psychedelic lyrics, the brass, drums, guitars, the worded ending works class. What I've been waiting from Beady Eye really. 9/10
Soul Love.
Took me awhile to get into this. Still not totally convinced by it (the lyrics didn't help matters). But it has a nice vibe and flows quite well. Can't help feel with a bit more effort, it could have been a real highlight on the album. So it falls a bit short 6/10
Face The Crowd.
Love it. Surprised by the negativity about it on here. Packs a punch, nice rhythmic vibe. Love the break in the guitars with the hand claps, Liam sounds great. 7/10
Apple
Didn't like it at first. But grew on me and now I really enjoy it. The vibe of it fits the album well. Lyrically a bit mental but I strangely enjoy it as well. 7/10
Soon Come Tomorrow
Again a grower, thought it was a bit watery at first. Starting to get into it more and more with every listen. 6.5/10
Iz Rite
Nice, simple, summertime pop tune. Really enjoy it. 7/10
I'm Just Saying
The Oasis by numbers song. Couldn't live with an album full of this. But as a one off it works pretty well. However I think the band should be staying away from the style and sound. 6/10
Don't Brother Me
Quite like it. I was expecting not to and I can see why some don't like it. Lyrically it's bearable maybe meant to be a bit throwaway. But I think Sitek has got the best out of the song. 6/10
Shine A Light
Really like it. I love Wellers' Echoes Round the Sun and this has that same vibe without nicking it. Good vocals, great song. 8/10
Ballroom Figured
This hasn't clicked yet. But I get something from it. I'm wanting to go back to again 5/10
Start Anew
Lovely song. A simple delicate Lennon style tune that Liam can carry off. Liam only does simple lyrics but they work on songs like this. Nice production on the song. 8/10
Dreaming Of Some Space - Nice and trippy against Start Anew
World Not Set In Stone - Decent but nothing special 5.5/10
Back After The Break - Again good song. 6.5/10
Off At The Next Exit - Love it. Reminds me of something Richard Ashcroft could do. Should have made the album 7/10
All in all, I'm enjoying it. 7/10 is what I'd score it atm. That may rise with more listens. But good stuff so far. To add a bit of constructive criticism. I definitely believe there is a bigger and better album in these guys. Great musicians, with a great lead vocalist and three songwriters. I think there could be better quality control within the band. Like they did with Flick Of The Finger, if the lyrics on a song aren't up to scratch then others within the band should work on it. Andy Bell is probably the strongest lyricist in the band. I'd love to see how Soul Love would have turned out if he'd reworked the lyrics on it.

After a few more listens I'm warming to it as a whole. The album has a cool vibe running through.
1) Flick of The Finger: Great opener, but could have done with a bit more catchy tune for the chorus.
2) Soul Love: A definite grower. Better after a few listens.
3) Face The Crowd: Just OK. Still not growing on me.
4) Second Bite At The Apple: Nice opening, but still not really doing anything for me.
5) Soon Come Tomorrow: Utter crap.
6) Iz Rite: One of the album's highlights. Great tune, and should be a single.
7) I'm Just Saying: Sounds like Oasis, but needs a more catchy chorus. Lacks the genius that Noel pulled off when he wrote these types of songs. Still one of the better tracks on the album though.
8) Don't Brother Me: Very poor lyrics, but I really love the second half of the song - very dreamlike, whimsical, far away, trippy sound. I absolutely love the mix, Dave Sitek earned his money on this one.
9) Shine A Light: Just ok. Still not doing it for me.
10) Ballroom Figured: Another crap song.
11) Start Anew: Nothing too clever about this one either.
12) Dreaming Of Some Space: Experimental effort, but not exactly a classic song. Sits ok in the album as a whole though, but its one I'll be skipping.
13) World Not Set In Stone: Nice song. I like this one.
14) Back After The Break: Just ok, nothing special.
15) Off At The Next Exit: Second true highlight of the album for me. This should have made the normal album. Great song, as good as anything done by Oasis in their heyday.
Overall 7/10. Better than the last album, and better than DOYS (although that's not too difficult).

Album is a solid 8 for me. Definitely a few growers on this one, but some very strong tracks. Great album to get stoned beforehand as well. ha.
Bonus tracks I would say are right in that area as well.

This album is a real grower... gets better and better with each listen. And I think all tracks have one of those magical sparks you want in a Gallagher-sung song.. The record is a 'real album'. A solid collection of songs that go together so well. Production is great!
My favorite track keeps changing by the day. I love this fuckin record man, I do..
(at the moment its ballroom figured for me man, what a lovely little tune)

Does the Japanese edition say who wrote the bonus tracks, specifically Back After The Break and Off At The Next Exit?

Bought the record today in a little shop in a town. Listened to it once now and I must say that my strongest impression is how good it SOUNDS. Very well produced by Sitek. Clear and attention to detail. Liam sounds good. Not yet impressed by all songs, but apart from the ones I already heard (FOTF and SBOTA) Start Anew was very nice. Like Let There Be Love but better produced. Sounded like something off a Lennon solo album (what a surprise...). Soon Come Tomorrow was beautiful, realized that toward the end of the song, but I didn't get that massive reaction out of it that many people have described. Iz Rite was really cool, POP. Someone slagged it off and said that it sounded like Roxette - but I like Roxette (it sounded like Roxette would have sounded if they were around in the 70s and made a song with Jeff Lynne)... The others I don't really remember yet. Will continue listening tomorrow. Saved the bonus tracks for tomorrow btw.
