The production on the album is great. Would love Noel to ditch Sardy and get in Sitek.

Well been a few days with the new download (good version) of the songs. Still really enjoying it, feel it doesnt have a 'killer' tune they could release, only really Start Anew. But the majority of the songs i'm really loving, theres not many 'skip' tracks for me.
I'm still listening to the dodgy mexican recordings of the deluxe edition songs, cant wait to hear the full version of those (My album hopefully arrives a week today).
Theres a few songs on DGSS i still like so i'm looking forward to seeing Beady Eye in Manchester in a few weeks, couple of DGSS songs, songs from this album and 2 Oasis ones, should be a great night.

Album has loads of potential but in my opinion it fails to deliver on the tracks the band our putting out as the main so called "Hits".
Love the way some of the tracks sound but in my opinion this had the potential too be a epic album but at best its good.
A tweek of the running order may help the album out also.
Here is my ratings for what its worth.
Flick of the finger: 6/10 (Should be a roof raiser)
Soul love: 7/10 (But should be a 10 but needs a grandstand finish)
Face the crowd: 3/10 (Poor at best)
Second bite of the apple: 4/10 (Just don't get it)
Soon come tomorrow: 9/10 (Top Draw)
Iz Rite: 8/10 (Am aving it)
I'm just saying: 8/10 (Like a DBTT b'side digging it))
Don't brother me: 5/10 (Noel on vocals and this is epic)
Shine a light: 9/10 (Classic)
Ballroom figured: 9/10 (Only slower song that is worthy of a listen and Liam sounds great)
Start anew: 8/10 (Also should be a 10 but needs a Chinese Fireworks ta blow ya mind)
Album three ?

So I'm on the 4th or so time through the album. I'd say it's around 7.5 (where after first listen I was more around a 5).
FOTF - 7.5/10 Soul Love - 7/10 Face The Crowd 5/10 Second Bite of the Apple 7/10 Soon Come Tomorrow 9/10 Iz Rite - 8/10 I'm Just Saying 7/10 Don't Brother Me 7/10 - I like the ending, but it goes on about 1 minute too long Shine a Light 6/10 Ballroom Figured 8/10 Start Anew 8.5/10

I let the album sink in some time, so that I can give my final judgment on it. Flick of the finger: 7.5/10Didn't like it at all at first listen, but it started to grow on me, it's an epic stomper that has a lot of swagger, but is too simple to be great. Soul love: 6.5/10Again, didn't thought to much of it at first listen, but now I really like the atmosphere and the production. A bit too simple again, and hearing this song live made me dislike it more tbf, doesn’t translate well live. Face the crowd: 5.5/10It's got energy, I'll give you that! It would be an okay-ish brother of Four Letter Word (even though I wouldn't rate it that high, I love FLW) but the "turn your eyes to me" middle-8, chorus, bridge, or whatever it is ruins it for me. It sounds so bad! Like a bad Bink128/Sum41 song. Else it would've been a 6.5 I guess.. Second bite of the apple: 7.5/10Fortunately things are starting to look better now. I actually liked this a lot more than FOTF on first listen. I must say, FOTF grew on me, this one, not so much. But I still like it! The groovy beginning, the epic sounding brass section, and what really makes the song is "come on, show me what you love now..." Not a great first single choice though, I think it this were just an album track, it would've been rated higher. Soon come tomorrow: 8/10Don't like the beginning, Liam doesn't sound good I think, almost like he doesn't quite hit the high notes, even though he isn't actually singing out of tune. Hard to describe. But the pre-chorus and chorus are beautiful. Of course, the epic chorus (kudos to Chris for the good drumming!) lift it to another level and make it a great song! But every time I hear the verses I still don't feel comfortable. Maybe that's just the goal of the song, the contrast between the verses and the (pre)chorus? Iz rite: 9/10I think my favorite of the album! The first 10 seconds of this song, without context, again don't sound to well. (I'm nitpicking, I know ) But when I heard the prechorus, and the chorus I was sold. What a build up! What a chorus! Perfect melancholic love song, love it! Will be a good single. I'm just saying: 9/10Another good one! Best rockin' Oasis sounding song the guys have done, perhaps even better than FLW (and I really liked that song, rated it higher than Shock of the Lightning, so...) The least boring song they've ever done, there's much going on, long verses, long prechorus, long chorus, even though I'm not sure where which part ends. Good solo, nice "oooh's", and I actually don't mind the 123, 789 counting. Sounds like the guys are having fun, so I don’t care. Don't brother me: 8/10Catchy melody, was the first melody I was singing after I heard the album. Interesting lyrics, and beautiful production. The outro is interesting, but too long. I understand that they're trying to create an atmosphere, but that long of an outro wasn't really necessary. Shine a light: 6.5/10The better version of Beatles & stones. But only thanks to the intro and the melody of the intro that's repeated in the middle. Also, the production is a lot better. And perhaps the chorus is a bit catchier, so actually quite a bit better than Beatles and Stones, but still not thát good. Ballroom figured: 7/10Beautiful melody. Not a boring song with a monotonous melody, like Beady Eye sometimes makes songs. There's enough variation to keep it interesting. But perhaps only the guitar is a bit too simple. I like that they took the chance to release this on the album, and it worked. Still thinks it would've been better if it had a bit more "production" on it. The melody is there, and Liam's voice works on it. But only the guitar makes it a bit too tame. Start anew: 9/10Beautiful melody from Liam. Was a bit disappointed on first listen, because the melody is too short and a bit too repetitive. This was especially apparent on the acoustic version. But this beautifully produced version makes it a lot less boring! The song itself is a 7.5, but the production and especially Liam's voice lift it to another level. The epic ending, that isn't trying to be too epic, is, perfect in my book. Still, if they had cared to make the melody a bit more interesting, or/and didn't repeat it that much, this would've been an absolute classic for me! Now time will tell if it is... Either way it will always remain a beautiful, really good track! Conclusion: If I average everything out I get a 7.5/10. Normally reviewing an album doesn't work that way, but I think it's a fair grade. Perhaps I'm inclined to give it a 8/10 just because the album flows so well. Barely any skippers (even though the beginning was tough), and the album tries to create some sort of atmosphere, and it works! I must add, that if they'd add some of the Bonus tracks (which are excellent) or at least "off at the next exit", preferably instead of "face the crowd" it would've been a 8/10 or even an 8.5/10. What a beautiful song that is. All the bonus tracks are of remarkable quality. This shows the guys know what they're doing, and should be taken seriously as a proper, good band! It's hard to rate the bonus tracks, since I only heard them in good quality today. I'm inclined to say that "off at the next exit" is a 9/10, maybe even a 9.5/10. Such a beautiful song. Always it’s think hard to rate these things, If “Live Forever” or “The Masterplan” is a 10, it’s hard to give “Off at the next exit” a 9.5/10. Perhaps it isn’t thát good if you look at it rationally. But who cares, the ratings are just how I feel at the moment, no comparing it with other bands/songs is useless

They're lucky to have Sitek producing Face the Crowd, he's managed to turn a terrible song into one that is passable. God knows how it got on the album though.

I really liking "Soul Love" now, that bass-line in the chorus is amazing. I'm liking "Don't Brother Me" more and more also, great melody.

Overall it is a much better album than DGSS, that album was generic, but this is another beast, a bold step foward. Liam singing is very good, he really sings for the most part instead of shouting here and there without breath. The production is the main thing here, it's great and flows very well, but the songs itself aren't that strong, in the end the whole package is amazing, 7,5/10 for me.
Flick of the Finger: 9/10 The best on the album IMO, the brass was a nice idea, Beck influeces are all over here.
Soul Love: 8/10 Nice, Sitek atmospheric touchs here and there are what made this song.
Face the Crowd: 5/10 It gives some edge to the album, but nothing more than this, generic.
Second Bite of the Apple: 8/10 I dig this song, again amazing production, sounds nothing like Oasis, which is a good thing for them.
Soon Come Tomorrow: 8/10 Wonderfull slow and atmospheric song, but somewhat it misses something to be really great.
Iz Rite: 6/10 This song is growing on me in a way, but still sounds like a poor man's The Roller.
I'm Just Saying: 9/10 Hello intro and Some Might Say vibe, the most charismatic song on the album, sounds like 90's Oasis.
Don't Brother Me: 8/10 Amazing melody and good lyrics, sounds like a Lullaby, ace outro but also too fucking long.
Shine a Light: 6/10 Good melody, but it just misses something overall, a bit repetitive.
Ballroom figured: 7/10 The melody is good, but theres is not much variation, kind of monotonous.
Start anew: 9/10 My favorite, could easily have been on the last 4 Oasis albums, single material, just beautiful.

For me, it is better than the first album. More diverse, more depth to it. The experimental side to it has paid off, it is more creative, and generally has better songs. A lot of the lyrics mean something to me personally as well.
It is a good period for Beady Eye.
Overall: 8/10

Still getting better with each listen for me. I really feared the worst after hearing the single but they've delivered big time. Whether I still prefer it to High Flying Birds a couple of years down the line, we'll see, but it's certainly a lot braver and they deserve respect for that.

My friend, who thinks Oasis isn't interesting enough and BDI as average [he loves Pitchfork, enough said!], said this about BE:
"I listened to part of it and enjoyed it a lot....Well I think it is much better than the other one [DGSS]. Much stronger writing."
That says a lot about the album and how BDI have improved when someone who isn't a fan sees the value of the product...

I've absoloutely hammered this Album for the past week (dug out my old CD walkman cranked upto 10 so I can have no distractions of any other album haha), to the point where the missus said I have a problem with my obsession of oasis/noel/BDI material haha, but in all fairness I said this is how most fellow fans of the Band react when something new comes out - we hammer it until we can just face no more My opinions seem to change daily but on the whole this is definitely a good record and another step in the right direction, If DGSS was their apollo launch then this for me is definitely the landing and the 1st few tentitive steps down that ladder, 3rd album should be the walking on the moon where they should define themselves as their own brand of sound and hopefully start ridding that whole Noel/ Oasis comparisons or obsession with just the Beatles (and Stones). always stated it was a grower and having seen peoples opinions fluctuate on here the past few weeks, the feeling I feel is generally more optimistic now. Flick of the Finger, Belter of a song straight from the off, has a Military fuck you drum beat that can put a spring in your step...that's what it's all about for me personally - the feeling. Granted it doesn't have that killer chorus but it is what it is and I like it 7.5 Soul Love - wasn't great on Jools but i'm not gonna go back and dwell on that, this is one of the grower songs for me. has a slower more dark mood about it and a tracey feel. was heading down the motorway at 1.30am this morning after the lst train from Liverpool got cancelled and a 2 hour bus replacement was called in and that's when I 1st felt this song properly for what it is - music for the night 8 Face The Crowd - must admit i almost skip this every time to be honest, bit of a throw away - read earlier that someone hated the part "turn your eyes at me" but for me it's that change that keeps the song fresher to my ears and prevents that skipping 6 Second bite of the apple - do i get it? ( I don't know what there is to get in all fairness) It's not the car crash of a song it's made out to be and the last 90 seconds are a real blast, I don't even think the singing is that bad if you can just get over the "smile" line, but it's different and I have to respect that 6.5 Soon Come Tomorrow - Now this is different in a good way, real strong step in the right direction. Listen to this with a beer and ciggy in your hand watching the sun go down and it hits home. Good lyrically apart from a few bits and bobs. in my opinion though the real lyricists are the singer/songwriters, bands never quite hit home as much for me so I'm not too arsed. 8 Iz Rite - after seeing someone had scratched "Iz rite" onto the back of a Train seat from Liverpool to Manchester a few weeks ago I had a feeling I would like this song real summery love feel to it, yes it does sound a bit beatlesy I admit but hey how many bands can actually pull that off? Love the affects on Liams voice as he breathes in the chorus 8 I'm just saying - I don't quite rate this as highly as a lot of people on here but that's what makes this album work for me, it's more diverse and seems to vary peoples opinions a lot which I see as a good thing. It's a good song don't get me wrong and it's nice to stomp about town to 7 Don't Brother me - Hated this at 1st but I can't stop singing it, Love the delivery and I think the message is very heart on sleeve stuff, which I really value Liam for he sings what he is feeling which I think is a hard thing to do personally. the lyrics can seem a little child like but you take SongBird, Love like a Bomb, Born on a different cloud, I'm outta time etc and you can really see how much he does write from the heart, much prefer him in this mood 8 Shine a light - Again this is another I am always very close to skipping, has a part of the queue feel aobut it for me. bit of a throw away stomper but I do like the delivery of the chorus and the backing vocals 7 Ballroom figured - nice idea and nice rawness to it, 7 Start Anew - Love the intro, the vocals here are absoloutely superb and the prodcution keeps it interesting until the end, again simplistic but heartfelt and certainly sung with Soul 8 I reckon that's about a 7.5 for me Off at the next exit btw, my fave song I've heard by anyone in a long while.....

1. Flick of The Finger 7/10 Solid start to the album. Love the production on this. It misses a big chorus though. 2. Soul Love 9/10 Love how dark and melancholic this - suits Liam's current voice perfectly 3. Face The Crowd 5/10 Has energy but its lyrics and melody are bland. 4. Second Bite of the Apple 6/10 Doesn't do much for me. Verses are poor and the chorus (which isn't even that good) is repeated far too much 5. Soon Come Tomorrow 7/10 Sounds a bit flat but lyrics are pretty good. 6. Iz Rite 9/10 Love this. Sounds like a 90s Oasis B-side. Has that pop sound that the later Oasis songs missed. 7. Im Just Saying 9/10 Similar to Iz Rite - very catchy. 8. Don't Brother Me 6/10 OK but doesn't really do much for me at the moment. 9. Shine a Light 6/10 No real melody, should have been a b-side. 10. Ballroom Figured 7.5/10 Possibly a bit repetitive but liking it on the whole 11. Start Anew 9/10 Incredible melody and incredible vocal from Liam. Possibly as good as Songbird?
On the whole it's a solid effort with 4 really good songs and superior to DGSS in just about every aspect. Also Off at the next exit is easily 8/10.
Actually makes me want another Oasis album - imagine Soul Love, Iz Rite, Just Saying and Start Anew with 6 Noel-written, Liam-sung songs. That would have been an incredible album.
