I've listened to BE more often than Dig Out Your Soul.
It's a good album. Shame that several things came at the same time - album release, Gem's injury, Liam's divorce and all that. I believe without all those "troubles", the band could have been made better of it - more live dates, US Tour etc. I still think it was good of them to try something new with this album.

Agreed that the last four minutes of Don't Brother Me is the album's best moment. Song-wise I think it's weaker than Different Gear but the production is fantastic. Love the 'Space Odyssey' vibe they had going on in songs like Start Anew when it gets all climactic and celestial near the end.

Don't brother me had a lot of potential, Liam's voice on that song and the lyrics made it a lot worse

FOUR FUCKING MINUTES, though. Like what the actual fuckkkkkkkk? Those four minutes are the best four minutes on the album !! Haha, nah. I do like those 4 minutes, but it should have been split up as small tracks sort of like Swamp Song. Or maybe released as a B-side instrumental.

Don't brother me had a lot of potential, Liam's voice on that song and the lyrics made it a lot worse Put Noel's vocals on it. Suddenly becomes a melodical masterpiece in my mind. Dang, I'd like to hear a someone with an imitation of Noel's singing voice cover Don't Brother Me now.

this thread reminds me of the Brady Bunch episode when Marcia's friend drew the funny picture of the teacher and Marcia got in trouble for it.
just kidding, this thread doesn't remind me of that at all.
Thanks.

Don't brother me had a lot of potential, Liam's voice on that song and the lyrics made it a lot worse I actually like the lyrics for making not much - or any - sense at all. Maybe the perfect representation of Liam's mind regarding brothers, if we are to believe him that the lyrics wrote themselves.

listened to it for the first time in months and I actually liked Face The Crowd for the first time...
album is good but Liam needs great songs if he wants to shine. nothing here. but it's always great to hear him on record.)
been wishing for a 'Liam and Friends' album as long as Noel's solo album, around 1999. thought Standing was going to be the last one really.

I really dig the album still. It is better than DGSS... it is fresh and solid. It isn't better than any Oasis album, but it's still a good album.
Face in the Crowd is annoying...
I always really thought Ballroom Figured, SBOTA, and Start Anew were classic sounding.
Those 3 songs are good as some Oasis songs.
I really hand it to them for trying to make something different.

still love BE. Flick Of The Finger is one of my favourite songs of the last ten years by any band. Soul Love , Don't Brother Me, Start Anew, Ballroom Figured and Back After The Break are great songs. Only song i don't like is Iz Rite

Face the Crowd is great live but on the record i agree it's missing that energy. Bass and guitars are too soft in this. I don't know who is responsible for this but i often find some of Beady Eye's guitar tracks too quiet. For example in Beatles and Stones second guitar sounds like the amp was set on 2/10 just put a mic to it and make it louder on the board. I bet it's Gem or Andy's technique but it's rubbish. If you want to get a loud rock band sound on album you have to play loud in studio.

I like that everyone has a different opinion on this album's songs. Sounds like DBTT, everyone had a different top 3. Which is a sign of a good album

I mean, I really do not want to slate the lyrics, because, as I said, I like them. But for me it does not seem to be very coherent. But, again, that's what I like about it! Maybe that's what he wants us to believe, but for me it sounds as if he put to paper whatever came to his mind regarding that certain topic and it somehow fits.

Flashbax is about sittin' with your mate, chilling, talkin' philosophical topics, havin maybe a few beers, thinkin' about the past and realising that the shit that bothered you when you were young doesn't matter anymore. You have be at least over 21 to understand what's this song is about.

I strongly believe that "BE" was one of the best releases of 2013 (and not only for a guitar band).
I also believe that Beady Eye was one of the most unluckiest bands of 2013 [FOTF leak losing promo stems, losing #1 position with very good first week sales and all the other problems only a month after the release of the album that hurt very bad any momentum and interest about their album (Liam's story, Gem's accidents, lost festivals and late tour)].
I still think the management was ok (great producer, clever and different for a gallagher band advices and choices, new direction) even if it seems that it didnt work always very well.
We definitely had great things from that era such as : (amazing extra tracks from the deluxe editions, a free remix album "42:42", "Abbey Road acoustic Session" and 4 acoustic performances of "BE", morning Glastonbury glory, 3 great covers (Beatles - "Cry Baby Cry", Stones - "Gimme Shelter" and Harrison's "My Sweet Lord") a few live Oasis classics ("Live Forever", "Wonderwall", "Champagne Supernova", "Cigarettes N Alcohol", "Rock n Roll Star", "Columbia", "Morning Glory" and even a drunk "Songbird") and Liam' vocals in a very good form (most of the time).
I m sad that "BE" and Beady Eye lost a chance to put their mark to a bigger audience but i m more sad that all these problems as a result cost us more bonuses (more gigs, tours, eventents and new music with Liam's voice).
The whole "BE" experience, for more than a year now (and definitely for the future), was a very good company for me and i m grateful for Beady Eye, Liam, Gem, Andy, Chris and Jay for what they offered us so far.
thank you BE for everything
album #3 now and i really cant wait...

I think the nipples might have hurt their sales a little bit, especially in sensitive countries like the United States where any form of nudity is some sort of tragedy. But in general, you're right. The nipples were intentional. They wanted to turn heads. You know what hurt sales in the US? Never releasing it in the US.

Surely they'd at least have gotten a thousand sales if not more. I think it might have come down to the album art and the band's lack of popularity. American businessman - "Beady who?", "Nudity on the cover?" "Take it elsewhere."

The album got a US release via Harvest Records did it not? There is also a promo release for Soul Love / Iz Rite too. Schorman kindly shared a rip of it.
