On first listening it was 5/10, second 6/10 and on third 7/10, much better and different towards DGSS, which on first listening was 9/10 and by the time past dried out to 4/10.

I, personally, would rather not nope i hope not, cause for me DBTT was better i think i can enjoy Beady Eye, that much, cause when i listen to them, i see them as Beady Eye not as people from oasis, founding a new band. in some aspects Beady Eye are much more intersting to me. i like the path they go, with the long psych outros etc.

Just heard the album for the first time. Upon first listen I actually quite liked "Face the Crowd." For me, this is a welcome rocker on an album that wound up being a bit softer then I imagined it was going to be. Regardless, I enjoyed its first run through and I am about to give it a second spin.

Gave it a first listen today and really dug it. Some of the tunes are weak, some of them meander for a bit too long, but overall its an excellent effort. Liam sounds amazing on it! I Sitek is the true star of the record, he really made everything shine with his fantastic production. Would have loved to hear Sitek produce Dig Out Your Soul...

I'll try to give my feelings on each song in 1 sentence. FOTF - a perfect statement of intent and opener that shows things will be a little different hereon Soul Love - dark, moody, atmospheric and very reminiscent of SOTSOG's best - something feels missing though (songwriting wise - only minor) Face the Crowd - The Quadrophenia vibe hit me right away, but that riff got very tiresome soon enough. Songwriting is better than expected ("turn your eyes to me" part works well) SBOTA - those lines over and over and over...had potential but is seriously undercooked. Few redeeming qualities, especially in light of the much more powerful 2 final bonus tracks. Soon Comes - A good little number, need more time to digest though Iz Rite - Definitely Gem, a fun and poppy tune that should be the next single I'm Just Saying - Manages to sound like Hello, Hey Now, and Some Might Say in 3:44. Love the count! Don't Brother Me - I had an uneasy feeling that this song would be embarassing...I was right. Shine a Light - Like SCT, its intriguing and fascinating. Want to get to know it better. Ballroom Figured - Already a special song to me, it reminds me of someone and speaks so easily how I feel. Oustanding Liam vocal, so tender and bittersweet. Nice one Gem! Start Anew - Very nice track but feels like it ends just short of hitting its "Neil Young in Boca Juniors Stadium with fireworks" climax Overall, a 7/10. But if we had Back After the Break, Off at the Next Exit, and Girls in Uniform on there in place of the weakest (SBOTA, DBM) I'd go up to an 8 or 8.5/10 - definitely Oasis worthy. Goal for next time: get the right songs in there!! Its not like they aren't capable of it, cos what's good is really outstanding Thank you Liam, Gem, Andy, Chris, and Dave Sitek for a successful new album.

My copy of the Japanese edition just arrived. Now I can finally listen to "Girls In Uniform" and "Evil Eye"! That's pretty cool, I'm looking forward to receiving mine now! Are the 2 bonus tracks worth it? I hope you'll receive yours very soon erddie. and yes, 2 bonus tracks are worth to have, especially "Evil Eye". To me this song is better than anything they've had before. Truly fantastic. I'm really loving it.

Does the Japanese edition say who wrote the bonus tracks, specifically Back After The Break and Off At The Next Exit? No, inner sleeve is same as the standard edition. It says "All songs written by Gallagher, Archer, Bell".

It says "All songs written by Gallagher, Archer, Bell". You're right. And extra book has no information about songwriters. I want to know who wrote Back After The Break, Off At The Next Exit and Girls In Uniform. Because I have not found the source.

The album is good and solid. Nothing spectacular but a step in the right direction after DGSS. But i couldnt believe why they would include a song as bad as "Girls in Uniform" even as a bonus track

I can't stop listening to it. Best new album I've heard in many years.

Liam sounds amazing on it! Personally I think he sounds awful on quite a few tracks - just far too nasal and growly. Compare it to something like his vocal on Champagne Supernova (yes, I realise that was nearly 20 years ago) and he sounds fucked.

6.5 or 7/10 to me for the first listen, looking like a grower. The sound is very good, but I'm not sure that they'll be ever in a higher league than average-to-good songwriters. Highlights for me are Flick of the Finger, Soul Love (I LOVE the moody vibe, really sounds like something BRMC could've done), I'm Just Saying and Soon Comes Tomorrow.

Back After The Break is so amazing. Much moodier than anything they've ever attempted and all the better for it.

Starting to really enjoy Ballroom Figured. Nice stripped down song. Would be interesting to hear it with a string backing though.

Finally getting time to really listen to this album... and I love it. Good job guys, an album like this with a producer like Sitek is exactly what needed to be done, 10/10.

Forgot to say earlier, and I feel bad for thinking it because Gem is awesome, but his tunes aren't too great. I'm probably the biggest (and one of the only) fans of To Be Where There's Life on these forums, but I didn't really enjoy his contributions to BE. Liam sounds amazing on it! Personally I think he sounds awful on quite a few tracks - just far too nasal and growly. Compare it to something like his vocal on Champagne Supernova (yes, I realise that was nearly 20 years ago) and he sounds fucked. Its not fair at all to compare him to that vocal. His voice on BE is in your face, snarling, and yeah, growly, but I dig that. I think it sounds a lot better and a lot more visceral than DGSS or DOYS.
