We seem to share similar tastes on those albums, especially Relapse! Fair enough with the sales, but I mean the critics have been generally unfavourable to the albums. And yeah Recovery sold loads because it was very radio friendly, but a lot of fans were unhappy with it a la DGSS. They still want more from him though. Obviously on a hugely more rabid scale than Beady Eye. Awesome, we should start an Eminem thread, wouldn't be inappropriate as he should have a new album coming out this summer. I think his next album will be good as long as he's making the music for himself and not pandering. Relapse has its flaws but you can at least tell that he was genuinely into it 100%, whereas Recovery comes across as forced at times. It would be better than doing what I have critiscised in the past, detracting from the thread's original point about pointless shit! But I still don't think it would be well received even then. But I agree with that, Relapse's rhyming and flow were incredible, if you took away the accents it would've been massive with the critics. But apparently he used the accent because it made it easier to fit syllables etc into lines. Not sure how true that is. He might've just been whacked out of his mind still. Either way it shits all over Recovery. Here's to June 10th and July 2nd, the two biggest releases (for me) of the year

Coming from a huge fan, it shouldn't matter this much to people. Seriously. Who gives a fuck how many people like them? We spend more time caring about what journalists and other people think of them instead of getting excited for the new album. We are by far the most cynical fanbase ever. Nothing major will happen with Beady Eye. In the spectrum of music, they're just another band, but what's the problem with that? Perhaps some of us just expect the very best from Beady Eye and get frustrated when they release sub-par singles or drown their songs in 60s cliches. Being a fan doesn't mean you have to love everything the band does at any price.

What I don't get is that so many people bitch and moan about the quality of today's music. "Pop is Dead. Rock 'n' Roll is Dead. Hip Hop is dead". People will bitch and moan about what constitutes itself as being today's "top music" and saying it won't ever compare or be as culturally significant as the music of yesteryear. I.e., Beatles, Who, 80's Jackson, 94-2000 Oasis... "yeah, I don't even listen to the radio any longer, it's all SHIT!"
Yet, when a band defies today's modern musical trends/sounds and goes out of their way to try and provide music that not only sounds, production-wise, like the music of old and writes songs inspired by said timeless acts, in an attempt to please fans of older bands as well as themselves, they receive flak and ridicule. "Rip-offs, one-trick-ponies" they are called. "If I wanted to hear John Lennon sounding music, I would have just bought "Imagine". "They aren't with the times, stuck in the past, and their poor sales show for it".
Is there no happy middle ground? Can't a band both avoid the shite sounds associated with what is mostly being released/selling like hotcakes today, yet still be influenced and record songs that both honor and pay tribute to their heroes?
If it weren't for the brothers Gallagher, I never would have gotten into The Kinks, The Who, T-Rex, The La's, the Smiths, etc etc etc...call these guys shit all you want, rip offs or what have you, but more important than the music they release is the music, that they themselves as fans, introduce us to.

what i really don't understand is the fact, that Noel Gallaghar's High Flying Birsd, sounds pretty retro too, but no one is complaining. "Soldier Boys & Jesus Freaks", "Dream on" sounds like THe Kinks, with a bit poppier production. People are moaning about vocals on liams voice on DGSS, what about the cringeworthy vocal sounds on some songs on HFB? at the end if you listen to both albums, you could mix them up, like a few people did, with making an unofficial Oasis record, and you will see, that they are not that different. Both have great moments (Four Letter Word & Everybody's on the Run), dull moments (standing on the edge of the noise & Dream on (IMO)), production that ruined the sound of some tunes (Wigwam (although i love it) & Stop the clocks (love the demo, hate the album), overblown songs (the beat goes on & record machine). Noel is pretty vintage and safe too. if that is a critisiscm for Liam than i don't get why Noel's record is taken as a reference for a good sounding album.

i think life would be easier on everyone if everything from either BDI or NGHFB'S wasn't immediately compared to the other.......
God bless.

i had the same thoughts for a long time, but when everywhere is something like "Noel is God" etc. bla bla bullshit, then i want to compare these two, to show the positive aspects of Beady Eye. I love them both and their direction are not that different.

in the end, there is no main problem with Beady Eye. I love them and i think that my satisfaction with their music would not grow, if more people would hear them.

The main problem with Beady Eye is that they don't have any capable songwriters. truth was spoken, thread closed.

All bullshit aside I think the main problem is ...I don't know if its been said cause I have not followed the thread ,so apologies if its been said , but Liam kept the band together sans Noel ... It's like if mick or Keith kept the stones in tack without the other and pardon the pun but called it "sticky fingers ". When you take gem and Andy along for ride its oasis sans Noel very hard for people to get past in my view ... Liam should have pulled a Robert plant , work with musicians not affiliated with his legendary band I think the crtisism then would be more subdued just my opinion

But Liam clearly enjoys working with his Beady Eye band mates and I really don't think Liam cares for success, I think he does it just because he enjoys the ride of recording a new album and touring. You can't please everyone so why bother trying to please critics. "if people don't like it, go to the bar or fuck off. If they do like it, jump up and down, let's have a good time." LG

I have frankly never found Beady Eye to have any problem as the title of this thread states. I enjoy their music because it's good. Not the best sure but there's nothing wrong with it. Oasis 'fans' are being way too hard on them IMO. Every second post is about how even the worst Oasis songs were better than BE songs. People have to face the awful truth that this isn't Oasis anymore, comparing anything they put out with Oasis songs will only leave you in disappointment. Just listen to the music and judge it on it's own merit and if you don't like it don't fucking troll around the BE threads telling us how you expect the new album to be crap. Get a life and invest your time in something that you do like. Yup I think the 'Main Problem' with Beady Eye is the trolls that they seem to attract.

The main problem with Beady Eye is that they don't have any capable songwriters. Nearly 100% dead-on...just have to replace "capable" with "consistently good". Look at the trio's Oasis/BDI contributions over the last thirteen years. Seriously...take a look at the catalog of songs. You have your answer. It they weren't Liam's new band you wouldn't even be getting a first album, never mind a second. Be happy with what you got. Decent band. Below average to decent tunes. I like them enough to hold out a bit of hope for the upcoming LP.

Plenty of country singers around at the moment. Their "retro" sound doesn't seem to affect them much... The problem with Beady Eye will always be the quality of songs, not the genre.

There is usually only 1 or 2 good songs on them and they are always the single. Almost not worth buying. But Beady Eye/HFB and Oasis all make a habit of having half of more of every album with good songs and usually only a couple of shite ones.

I'm not even gonna bother reading most of this thread, 'cos half of it is just bollocks!
The fact is, Beady Eye and Liam just want to make music and make music that they like and are into themselves, so it's bound to sound to way it does.
So far, I get the feeling that this is the album that the band are totally comfortable with, that they've found their trademark sound, so to speak?

I think you should check out the threads with people asking about Noel making his AA album and the choice of Sardy to head his next album. There has clearly been an outcry for Noel to advance his sound. So I don't see where the complaint is. Secondly, I think Noel's songwriting is better and at time can withstand not having a non-retro sound. Whereas, in my opinion, Beady Eye's songwriting is weaker and more susceptibility to the complaint of the overly retro sound. I think there's enough of a swath of the fanbase that wants Noel to take his good songwriting and really push the sound. So as I said, I don't get the no one is complaining piece of your argument.
