Don't get me wrong - lyrics CAN be brilliant and sometimes they can make a good song brilliant (in the case of a band like The Divine Comedy, whom I adore), but if people are listening to somebody like Liam Gallagher, who is clearly not the most articulate or intelligent fella around, then you're barking up the wrong tree. Not knocking Liam or Beady Eye. I adore the songs. But they're not lyricists. They're musicians. I believe you just called Liam a musician? Good one. I've wondered for years what they definition of a "musician" really is? I mean, just b/c you are part of the music industry does that make you a musician? If that is the sole criteria then I think "musician" might well be the most overrated profession on the planet. Don't get me wrong, I am not hating on Liam or BE.....just asking the question. Singer of one of the biggest bands of the last generation - yeah I'd say that makes him a musician. Never quite understood why people look down at standalone singers in that way.

I don't get all the hate the lyrics are getting. The song clearly does have an overall meaning, it's not just random gibberish rhyming for the sake of it. Some of those lines is just rhyming for the sake of the easy rhyme. Just because something has "meaning" doesn't mean it's good. Technically there's no such thing as a set of lyrics that are completely devoid of meaning. Only in as much as all words have a meaning. SBOTA has an overall theme whereas Supersonic, for example doesn't. Though I still love the lyrics in the latter, funnily enough.
