metallica is metal - black sabbath is hard rock What does Metallica and Micheal Jackson have in common? They both turned to shit after black. Black Sabbath invented heavy metal, doom metal, funeral metal, stoner metal, all that dropped down detuned guitar stuff that's been widely popular since the early 90s can be traced straight back to Black Sabbath. You won't find a single metal band that won't cite Sabbath as a huge influence. I can't remember what was said exactly but on a Lemmy documentary didn't Ozzy say that Motörhead started heavy metal? It was called "Lemmy". I believe it was on there or perhaps just a Motörhead documentary.

There is more impressive guitar work on the track "Damaged Soul" alone than all of Beady Eye's discography combined.

Black Sabbath are everything lol. It's amazing how they always kept putting out quality music despite many different lead singers. Forget Ozzy or Dio, my favorite Sabbath album might just be Born Again with Ian Gillian.
The whole album and the tone of it is just so twisted and evil, love it.

Most underrated singer in rock history IMO Can go metal as in your pick there's, can wail as well as anyone in deep purple ( highway star, space truckin ) and can be mellow and moody child in time ...great singer who vocally was far superior to ozzy ( not saying alot ) and better than the late great dio ...his work with purple is so overlooked

Be will have a decent first day placing as all the per-orders. However it will tail off by the end of the week. It should go top5. But black sabbath will have much bigger sales they are way ahead of be on the pre- order charts on amazon and have been so for months. I can't see this album selling anywhere near its first album of 66 k first week sales.

I like 13. It sounds fresh but still sounds like a Sabbath album. It's really good.

^Any favorites?
I really like Age of Reason, zeitgeist is very reminiscent of planet caravan, Damaged Souls is just pure blues-metal and it sounds wicked. Always liked God is dead from the start, I think Loner could be a big single, it's kind of poppy. Amazing how they pulled this off in their 60s.

Mean ozzy and sabbath go hand In hand man ......just I was SUPRISED someone gave Ian some respect here , being older i love Ian from purple , one of my real good friends favorite band was purple with Ian and he is a huge sabbath guy as well , and he would always play the that cassette and sell me on how great Gillian is , not dissing ozzy at All I love the guy .. Was SUPRISED Ian got so e respect , good to see

Still early days to pick favorites but Damaged Souls is fantastic. Sonicly it's amazing. Everything is clear and all the instruments sound as they should. everything occupies it's space without intruding on anyone else's space. Well produced and very well mixed. I can't believe they've produced this at their age.

The best BE can hope for is to beat DG,SS. I doubt it will, but it certainly deserves to.

I think its possible that more people might be willing to try a BE album this time around. Think about it. At the time people were thinking DGSS would either be complete drivel or just okay and when it was actually released people were surprised that it was better than okay and actually a decent effort.
My point is, people now know that Beady Eye are capable of making some good songs and they might be more willing to try out this album now that they know what to expect.
In this case, it is vastly different from DGSS, which might serve to spread more hype, because once again Beady Eye have pulled the unexpected and in my opinion delivered something better than decent.
I think they could have gained more fans since DGSS and I think they are completely capable of pulling off higher sales than 66k in the first week. I think they will make it into the top 5. I don't think they will beat Black Sabbath, but you never know.

If you think Beady Eye came out of DGSS with any credit whatsoever, then you're sorely mistaken. The only thing DGSS did was to confirm what everyone had been saying for years - that Noel was almost 100% of the talent in Oasis. What's even worse is that expectations for DGSS were really really low before the release and yet it still managed to not live up to expectations. As one reviewer said "listening to DGSS violated my ears and was almost a violation of my human rights". I also saw the words 'disgrace' and 'landfill' in a number of DGSS reviews. If anything, DGSS lost Beady Eye fans. I expect Beady Eye's management will party like there's no tomorrow if the album manages to crack the top 10.

I didn't see that at all and I am sure many here would agree. Outside some harsh criticisms like The Rolling Stones, I saw a general approval for the album. All agree that the album wasn't strong, but most seemed to be satisfied by it and usually it exceeded their expectations. Lots of people were surprised that it actually delivered some good music where as most seemed to assume that it would be complete shite. So I have to say that you are sorely mistaken.
