Defo Alan.
Although I went to see Weller last Friday and Steve is amazing! But Alans style is so similar and he was one of the lads.

im glad you say that casue i read in the forum that someone said that whitey never fitted into the band i thought it was odd?? never fitted in? he was liams drinking buddy! he brought such a fresh sound to the band on MG. his drumming on that album and the live shows around that time is amazing. when i hear zak doing tunes from that era especially, it just doesnt sound right to me, not saying zak isnt good, he's great but he just doesnt have the funkiness that alan has.

Zak, yes I know most of DBTT could be played by an 8 year old on the sticks, but he is still a greta drummer. He just rarely gets any time to shine.

Alan for sure.
Zak is an amazing drummer, but he doesn't have the right Oasis sound
AND DON'T KNOW TONY.... he's my second choice up there!

If Zak doesn't stay, Oasis are over. dont think whoever is playing the drums for this band is gonna have an influence on wether they stay together or not zak is great. but go and listen to the albums Alan played on particularly SOTSOG & WTSGM. you telling me Zak could play those rhythms Alan was wacking out?

I dibd't as well at first. Then I have been to 7 gigs this year and realized that he adds so much to the sound and the show that without him.now, from a live point of view at least, Oasis wouldn't be so great. I love Oasis, been their huge fan since I was 10, that is early '94, but I've always thought summat was missing and now I know what. Didn't like Alan at all, me.

I mean just listen to mucky fingers on the album and compare it to the live versions! any live! And what about Cigarettes and Alcohol? My generation? LYLA? Alan and anyone would never be able to do that properly!

Alan and anyone would never be able to do that properly! Nah sorry cant agree Zak is too 1-dimensional for me. Great out-and-out rock drummer, but doesnt have the groove that both Alan & Steve have. Sounds great with The Who, but Oasis aint The Who.

Whitey was Oasis together with Noel and Liam. Who else would've been able to record wonderwall, dont look back in anger or champagne supernova the way he did? zak starkey? no.
zak is a great rock'n'roll drummer and his playing in the album is great and he gets even better live, but i will always go for alan because he had that particular style that made oasis so original. (and even though zak was on the who, alan played My Generation a hundred times better!)

I knew Oasis fans didn't have a greta musical taste..now I have the definitive prof!Me I hopw for Oasis (and meself..being an oasis fan) that Zak would stay for ever. If he goes back with the who and they make another tour fair enough, i'll go to their gigs.

man all these people who claim that say zac is by far a greater drummer than alan who are you comparing to.
Alot of people have alot of opinions saying he can do this and that but in reallity he cant. He is a good rock drummer but not a technician of the drum kit like taylor hawkins or buddy rich, nor is he a dave grohl hit em with aggression. He is in the mould of a matt cameron, although that is bit farfetched as matt cameron was a pretty goo rock drummer.
When Alan White joined the band he brought with him what toni didnt have, style. Subsequently I feel that oasis have gone back to these dark days of toni mccarrol as their drummer style wise dont jump on my throat zac is fifty thousand times better than toni.
However i have yet to hear zac play champagne supernova or rock n roll star with the same snare roll that whitey had and am yet to hear him do little fills in between beats like in My Generation or Wonderwall/ Dont Look Back In anger, all he can do is bash.
To hear/see whitey at his best i reccomend you listen to/watch familiar to millions and listen to my generation off the Maida Vale Sessions also available as a b side on (cant remmember)....
You will then be converted
Also at least Whitey was a cockney vagina (too use a liam expression) then a fucken tree huggin pussy.
my point made

My point is totally different. For me the drummer is as much important as the singer for a rock band, I love Oasis to bits, but I couldn't get Alan's drumming...far too simple, slow and without fantasy at all, the only thing I did like of his dumming was at the beginning of Wonderwall. Anyway, as I told you, I've been to gigs every tour they've made, but this tour I realized how greater the impact of their music is compared to how it was years ago when Liam's voice was far better and how amazing are now the drumming solos at the end of some songs. I really couldn't imagine Alan doing what Zak is doing now, I think he'd become a Tony number 2 if he was still in the band. I'm happy with Noel's choice of Zak and I hope he stays, as I said before. If he doesn't I am really curious about the next drummer...coz I really believe none really could do the perfect job Mr Strakey does right now.
