Damn, that's a good tune! Really like it. And I love the production. Dave Sitek is awesome, man. If the rest of the album is anything like this... GIVE IT TO ME! NOOOW!

Sounds a bit like manfred mann one way glass, got that vibe to it. Catchy tune like it. Lovely little teaser for what's to come.

Wait... I've got it, this would sound perfect for Alex Turner! You what? I would think Alex had suffered brain damage if he had come out with these lyrics, seriously. The lyrics are awful.

I wanna build you up (Brick by brick) I wanna break you down (Brick by brick) I'm gonna reconstruct (Brick by Brick) I wanna feel you love Brick by brick (Ahhhhhh) Brick by brick (Ahhhhhh) I wanna steal your soul (Brick by brick) I wanna rock and roll (Brick by Brick) I wanna rock and roll (Brick by brick) I wanna rock and roll

At least there's a hook and that song is sung by the drummer for the most part anyway. You cant have the drummer singing complex lyrics while trying to bash his drum kit at the same time.

I'm fine with that, but did Alex Turner really have to repeat "I wanna' rock and roll" 3 times?...

Official Video up with Lyrics! LYRICS: Woke up this morning, I was late, off out on the dark side, With the moon and the room on the wrong side. I took a needle for myself right back at the seams, I saw my universal gleam.
I see the wonder of life and look for the wall, Taking a walk in the sun.
In time, in just a second like the ghost of a bad idea, I feel myself getting the fear.
Come on, have we decided if we like being part of the plan. It sends us shifting and there's nowhere to land It's on; it doesn't matter if all of these tickets are sold And all the old stories are told I know you're gonna tell me that you hear every word I say But the future gets written today; Yeah the future gets written today.
Don't be deceived when our revolution has been finally stamped out and they pat you eternally on the shoulder and say that there's no inequality worth speaking of and no more reason for fighting because if you believe them they will be completely in charge in their marble homes and granite banks from which they rob the people of the world under the pretense of bringing them culture. Watch out, for as soon as it pleases them they'll send you out to protect their gold in wars whose weapons, rapidly developed by servile scientists, will become more and more deadly until they can with a flick of the finger tear a million of you to pieces.

On an acoustic, it'd be boring as fuck. Also, my "C'mon guys" comment was asking about their SOUND. Choruses and melody are irrelevant if the sound of the song is muddy and unclear...but this is vibrant, clear, crystal. Not bad, not bad...

Choruses and melody are irrelevant if the sound of the song is muddy and unclear...but this is vibrant, clear, crystal. Not bad, not bad... That's actually great. Well done that man. Makes me think Beady Eye should record some acoustic versions of whatever they've come up with.

I have to say that Flick Of The Finger has really grown on me. It took a few listens but I'm really into now. I'm really happy that they're trying new stuff out, can't wait for the album to come out. If this is just an album track I'm really excited to hear the single. It can only be better, hopefully!

It's a ok song but it doesn't really go anywhere.
Think it needs a big chorus for me.

I think the fact that Flick of the Finger is a success is that it doesn't really have a chorus and as a result doesn't try to be something that it will never live up to be - e.g. a classic Oasis anthem. We all expect big choruses from anything Oasis related - its embedded in them all - so for a song not to have one seems unconventional.
However, if this song did have a chorus, then it would utterly fail in my opinion. Beady Eye's previous tunes have had choruses that that aren't as big as they think, and as a result, leaves the listener thinking it never quite achieves its potential, and the inevitable comparisons with Oasis's big anthems are inevitably drawn. This gives ammunition to those stating it's just Oasis without the main talent.
So rule number one for this album - let's stop trying to emulate Noel and give our sound a fresh twist rather than a Beatles rip off. In my opinion, Flick of the Finger = big success.
And I'm a big critic of the band. I didn't like Different Gear, it was the most derivative album I've ever heard that I wouldn't be surprised if John Lennon's ghost haunted and tormented the band for the rest of their lives due to it. Also, I thought all band members from Beady Eye fucked up every Oasis album from 2002 onwards (barring the odd shocker from Noel). I listened to High Flying Birds and I loved it, and still love it - the best Oasis-related album since Morning Glory in my opinion. I'm a Noel man in a nutshell.
But if the Beady Eye album is to give us a delighful twist on everything predictable about Oasis these days, then it will raise questions about Noel. For example, why the hell is he persisting with the unambitious Dave Sardy who actually makes great songs sound average (If I Had A Gun)? The best producers would get the very best out of the song, and Dave Sitek seems to have heard the potential in Flick of the Finger. If Dave Sitek or some other producer with a degree of talent was producing If I Had A Gun, they would have probably kept the haunted feeling of the soundcheck or something special with it, rather than the dull plodding meandering dirge it became on record.
If Beady Eye can change their sound, then what problem would it be for the biggest talent from Oasis? As for the lyrics, nothing special but not embarrasing like Different Gear. For Beady Eye I thought they were pretty good! That first verse reminds me of Moby. I can now say I'm not dreading this album thankfully. Keep up this good work and this could very well be the big surprise of the year.

Definitely a grower! I love it now, I've even gotten used to the nasally vocals, so much better than the horrible reverb used on DGSS, he's singing so well despite how battered his voice is. DGSS was full of songs that sound great when you first hear them but slowly get worse the longer you live with them. I can't wait for a decent quality rip.
Strangely enough, like when Bring The Light first came out, it suddenly sounded a lot better when you hear it's just an album track, if it's any indication of the rest of the album then we're really in for a treat!

I really want Noel to ditch Dave Sardy for his next album. Get a proper, more creative guy in like Dave Sitek. He's gonna do wonders for this album. My ears are excited!!!

I agree that as an album track Flick of the Finger isn't trying to be anything it's not and that definitely makes me feel more generous about it.

I've gotten quite a few messages about this, so just to confirm: this ISN'T the song I heard at the club. How did the song in the club sound? Did it also feature a brass section? I imagine this single being very fast paced in a Kasabian kind of way. Thanks!
