Partly uninspiring on first listen. It's obviously not a wind up as it's clearly Liam. Bits sound great, others are a bit flat/boring though.

Like the intro, drum bit seems very flat to me. The drums in general seem very flat to me. Doesn't really kick in until the horns come in, but once the horns leave, really nothing there.

Poor effort. Sounds like Mucky Fingers but nowhere near as good. Not within an arses roar in fact. If this is the lead single, the band has become a laughing stock. Because this track is not worth a wa*k. Simple as that.

Is This It?
The sound isn't groundbreaking by any means, but for Beady Eye its a sea change. They are no longer the derivative post Noel mess that made up a good portion of their debut. Instead they sound like a band being pushed kicking and screaming into the 21-century. Despite this something is missing. There are moments where it sounds forced-from the tacky sample that dominates the outro to the Kasabian aping intro, but thats not the main problem. The magic or IT FACT is its main undoing.
Oasis classics were backed by the sound of nostalgia, while Radiohead best work pushed the band and its listeners both sonically and emotionally. Beady Eye bring none of these facets to the table. Instead we have the sound of men slightly confused about where they stand in this market at this time. As Ray Davies once said: I hope tomorrow we'll find better things.
6.2/10
I do think the song itself int terms of production will sound infinitely better with a proper rip.

So good we needed a second post. Liking Silvio are you Rolli? Have you seen the live version from Hyde Park?

I can see why people would be a bit underwhelmed; it doesn't really go anywhere from the start. As previously said, the rip does it no justice and it'll be interesting to see how it fits into the album. Great production and sound though.

Not a bad effort to be honest. Much better than most of the previous abortion of an album.
Waiting for theyknowwhatimean to claim it's the best thing since Definitely Maybe.

Love it. Love the drums. Production is awfully clean. Something to get excited about for sure. I'm not gonna say a bad thing about it... today.

Maybe the production is calmer than I expected. The lyrics don't seem terrible, I think I need to hear this live to make a proper decision.

But something that is their own or at least their reinterpretation of Lucy in the sky with diamonds(or whatever beatles song they picked).

A step in the right direction for the boys. Production is massive! Sounds like a song that would be used in the closing credits for a Bruce Lee movie. Perfect album track, but yeah not quite single material, which we are after this time around, something that will draw the masses.
How good would it be if come Monday they announce a different song for the 15th?

What a surprise! That certainly took me by surprise.I love the quote in there, it reminds me of the Columbia white label demo (and other early versions). Definitely got a heavy, Bag It Up feel to it. Can't wait to hear more!! Sounds like an Andy song to me

It may be possible this is something different, but i doubt it.

God bless. I don't know, I liked several of the songs on DGSS (it could have been stronger, but I certainly didn't hate it), and I actually like this new one too. I'm not sure if it's strong enough to be the lead single, but I like that they took some risks with that horn section. I have a feeling that this song will sound great live, actually--bring on the live brass section, some huge strobe lights, and flashing words on screens ala Fuckin in the Bushes (with that sampling at the end of the song) and this would be a real winner.

Sorry guys, but I disagree with most of you: I do really like it, and the whole vibe of the song is definitely a turning point for Beady Eye, they are directing the missils to a new, modern audience instead of recycling Oasis sounds like they did on the first album. It would not be fare at all to compare it to NGHFB's work, it's a total different concept... and horns sound like Turn Up the Sun to me, so it's probably right it's Andy's song....
