We cannot really ask for a song that pretends to be something it is not, or to be more precise, we cannot really ask the artist to make the art we desire, because thats their vision. you either like it or not, is that simple. i think the problem is, that most of the people expect big chorus stuff, cause liam used to sing that kind of songs. i personally love the direction this is going, cause his voice is great for psychedelic and shoegazing. but some people will never be happy i think

There were all kinds of complaining, but all of them were in the "it doesn't really sound like Oasis" route.

I just have a hunch this isn't necessarily the single, more of a first taste of the album. I like the horns for sure.
Anybody have lyrics up yet?

Not matter how many times you listen to it, its good but it sounds unfinished, i'm sorry. It's a nice taster but if they don't got anything better than this coming up, it's the end for Beady Eye. The song fall flats of being something huge, just like Stop the Clocks or Guess God thinks i'm Abel.
What's good is that Sitek just didnt copy and paste his past production on the band, he went for a new sound. And that's promising.

Yeah, I don't believe that this is a single either. I'd happily bet five English pounds on it.

I doubt that this is the single. Anyway, it's a great song. The future gets written today

Compared to this, Stop the Clocks and Guess God thinks i'm Abel sound like epics IMO Its getting more acceptable the more i hear it, but don't think its ever going to be a track i like very much. I know Bring the Light get's slated a lot round here, but i would rather that than this any day of the week. Was really starting to get back into DGSS lately as well, but i just don't like this track.

Yes I think is Andy I confirm my first impression...good song,really good (yes,it's definitely a grower),but it doesn't blow me away,there isn't an "explosion" d'you know what I mean? it's different and it's a good thing,but I miss a good chorus

Heard it for the first time now, pretty good song. I think it'll grow on me even more with more listens. I really like the sound of it and production of course. Can't wait for the rest of the album.

that was boring, i want tracks like FLW, The Roller, not this thing I stated some time back that it'd be funny if the people that liked DGSS didn't like the new album and the people that didn't like DGSS liked the new one and i have feeling that's going to be the case.... God bless. Seems about right, I like the sound of this song with it's much bigger production, it's a big improvement on DGSS, it had a couple of good songs on it but it was pretty poor

I like it, but It's not single material imo. Definitely not, but maybe this was the most radio-friendly song on the album or maybe like with DGSS, beady eye will mess the single up again like they did with releasing Bring The Light first...

Some people have criticised Liam's vocal, I think he sounds immense as well, I just wish he sung more of the actual song, he only sings about 15 lines of a song that's nearly 4 minutes long

This is awful. Just plodding and boring. Plus Liam sounds like a dying frog.

I can't wait to hear "There But Somewhere Else"!!!! Seriously though....."Flick of The Finger" is exactly the type of step forward I wanted the band to take once Dave Sitek came on board. The production is great. Liam sounds 10-12 years younger and my palette is officially wet for more surprises.

I have stop reading peoples critiques of songs on here. I'm starting to lose faith in humanity.
I will never be a big fan of DGSS. It's mediocre. But this I love.
Flick Of The Finger is exactly as many have said - step in the right direction. It's a cracking song. It isn't flashy and it isn't the stadium-chorus shoutalong stuff that many have come to expect of the lads.
It's quietly brilliant.

Yeh totally agree, I'll admit I was sceptical at first but with any experimenting in music, you've got to be willing to put some time into it and I actually really like the fact it doesn't fit in with the verse-chorus structure. It's very plausible that this isn't the single that will be played by Zane Lowe on the 15th which is exciting of course as dennizz said his boss had been given a number of tracks
