Easily two of Noel's worst songs. Always skip the two of 'em. Shouldn't have made it to the album, I think.
Opinions?

I adore the demo's from the Oasis days but the HFB album versions are terrible.
I cringe when I hear Noels vocal on Stop The Clocks.

I think I'm in the minority when I say I like the album versions better, especially Record Machine

Record machine HFB's version is far superior to the demo version.

I don't dig the recording of Stop The Clocks on HFB. The demo had more charm. I'd have much preferred the album end with A Simple Game of Genius. A song in this demeanor was lacking on HFB. I also think Stop The Clock maybe should have been a hidden track at the end.
As far as record machine goes:
"It's like Led Zeppelin doing The Beatles, it's 10 minutes long with loads of guitar solos!"
* Yeah.....that never happened!

Record Machine was amazing live. The album version is quite dull though.
He never nailed Stop The Clocks. He should've kept the production more raw, in the vein of Looking Glass by the La's and he definitely should've scrapped that annoying "sound" line.

i really like "Record Machine" as a song, but the production is just too overblown, a bit stripped down, but a bit fuller, than the oasis version would have been great. stop the clocks should have been like the demo, just better produced, but i cringe when i hear his voice and those keyboar-pop sounding shit. loved the demo, listend to it at least 300 times, but i only listend i think 5 times, to the studio version. like someone said above me, the album should have ended with "a simple game of genius", which is just incredible!

I have always loved Stop The Clocks even with all those poor vocals and production. There's a unique feel to it that other songs just can't regenerate in me. I read in an interview that the inspiration for the song was a dream, maybe that's why I'm the minority here because I believe in dreams to be the coolest (and usually the best) inspirations for songwriting, well at least in my case..

Glad I am not the only one who thought the opening mellotron on Stop The Clocks sucked. It sounds too synthetic to my ears. Very thin in sound. I'd rather it have that organic feel like the mellotron on Strawberry Fields. It just speaks volumes that Noel didn't even record it properly and in the wrong key!
