I typed a rather long response earlier and it didn't post b/c my internet went funky.
In short it said that this is just another example of people creating the idealized version in their heads based off a demo recording and then feeling shafted when the album version doesn't match up to the version in their heads. I like both songs on the album. It's nice that he cleaned those old tracks out, so now we can get some new stuff moving forward. Neither track hurts the album in anyway for me.

Yeah, I'm with those that prefer the album versions by far, Record Machine just seems soooooo slllooooowwww when you've heard the energetic album and live versions, the choir and strings are appropriate and decent additions to the tunes.

Record Machine solo in the demo has a little nice trick that is missing in the current version.
And about Stop the clocks, I like the Zanzibar version better. It kinda gives you the feeling that you're dreaming.

I'm not keen on STC...but then I always thought the demo was boring too. The only thing that I like about the album version is the outro which is better than. I don't care if Liam had sung it...it'd still be a boring song. Still better than These Swollen Hands Blue though. Would have made a decent hidden track for sure. Glad it's out there if only so that everyone can stop talking about when we are going to get the thing
Record Machine I like. I still like the middle-eight bridge or whatever. It's what makes the song for me. It's around the middle of the album in quality for me. I like it as the end of side 1 though. I think it deserves it's place.

Agreed with the statement down the line. They're two of the weaker tracks on Noel's record and the hype behind them when they were Oasis tunes was completely unwarranted.

The demo of Record Machine is glorious and I quite like STC too. I think both suffered from too much production on the album in my opinion but Noel could have hardly released them in the form that had been leaked already.

I prefer the album tracks. The choir is a great addition to RM (although the live version is the best) and I prefer the Stop The Clocks outro from the album. Neither are anywhere near the best tracks on the album but that's not a bad thing since its the best collection of songs since Be Here Now anyway.

I usually skip those 2 tracks.
Record Machine - I prefer the glorious bassline on the demo. I also prefer the double track vocals "don't give me a reason..." part on the demo - very powerful. Plus I was hoping Noel was going to keep his promise and make it a 12 minute epic full of masturbatory guitar solos.
Stop The Clocks - Where should I start. Besides being the most hyped up song in Gallagher history, being the name of an Oasis best of and all the childish hoopla surrounding the Zanzibar gig. The fact that Noel doesn't even play this song or even plays the actual solo on the record. The song has just a distant feel. Besides I'm a huge fan of the La's and i can't stop thinking of Looking Glass.

Record Machine solo in the demo has a little nice trick that is missing in the current version. And about Stop the clocks, I like the Zanzibar version better. It kinda gives you the feeling that you're dreaming. Agree 100%. The RM demo is outstanding, the guitar solo is blistering and glorious and the middle 8 following it is just perfection. An Oasis classic. But this was meant for DBTT and wouldnt have fit as it is on the other albums. The album version is WAY too overproduced and softened. Live its better definitely but it is disappointing on the record. STC I think is better on NGHFB album than the demo for 1 simple reason: the outro. Way better than the demo outro too. However, the Zanzibar version is the best version of the song we have.

Very well said. Zanzibar version of STC > all other versions of STC I'll agree with this. Also DLBIA is fucking epic from that gig! wow I didn't know he did that version of DLBIA way back in 2003!

That's strange your normally so positive I thought you'd of thought they were great tunes(?) I guess you was a big fan and loved the gallagher's, oasis as much as the rest of us? but they've burnt out and you no longer see that spark in them.. So move on why feel the need to come and be negative all the time. This is a fan forum and you just come across as a prick. I understand you just don't feel the magic anymore. We've all read you views on how noel not relevant any more and Liam's this or that so move on

Wrong forum mate, the One Direction/Justin Beiber/Mylie Cyrus forum is two streets down. Glad I could help! I don't have any problem with the album versions of Stop The Clocks and Record Machine. I really like Record Machine in particular, it's a very good song IMO.

I 100% agree, the demos are so much better, i actually think the soundcheck version of stop the clocks is the best version weve heard, its just got a great feel to it.

Im sure I would have liked these a lot more had I listened to them for the first time on NGHFB. But since they had been around forever and he hardly tinkered with them, they kind of wore off quickly.
Should have been b-sides in favor of ASGOG and LTLSALOM .

I replaced them with Freaky Teeth, Let The Lord Shine a Light On Me and I'd Pick You Every Time on my edited playlist of the album. Never thought much of them.

These are two of my favorite songs on the record. I do wish Record Machine had bigger guitars like it does live. STC sounds great if played loud, especially when the drums and bass come in. I still think the best STC version is the soundcheck in Hong Kong. And anyway both of these songs piss all over Soldier Boys and Jesus Freaks.

Never really been too big a fan of stop the clocks but I love Record Machine! Always have the "one in a million" lyric may be my favourite on the album. Love it.
