Once heard, immediately hooked:
-Kasabian/Empire - made me go out and buy the whole album without having ever heard anything of them before, no regrets! -Oasis/Fuckin' in the bushes - "Snatch"! That was actually the first Oasis song I liked, having no idea it was them until I bothered to look it up. The Wonderwall Band???!!! -Godsmack/Voodoo -Offspring/Self esteem -Audioslave/Like a stone -Babylon Zoo/Spaceman - I had a snippet of that song in my head for about 15 years until I finally could identify it last year! -Buzzcocks/Harmony in my head -Inspiral Carpets/I want you -Doves/Kingdom of rust -End credits/Chase and Status & Plan B -Dropkick Murphys/Shipping up to Boston -Smiths/A rush and a push -Smiths/How soon is now - I used to only know the version from "Charmed" and it always puzzled me that such a trashy TV show had such a brilliant intro song, what a great moment when I came across the original! -Gesaffelstein/Pursuit - shazamed waiting for Kasabian to appear, still freaks me out that I actually like that!

Will probably comeback and post some more didn't get very far down my list.
Oasis - Slide Away, Fade Away, Some Might Say, Cast No Shadow, D'You Know What I Mean? More Oasis songs have blown me away but these songs sum up the beauty, swagger, emotion frustration, and optimism that was Oasis
Alvvays - Archie, Marry Me The time that first "hey hey" come in for the chorus I just fell for the song
Arcade Fire - Neighborhood #3 (Power Out) Arcade Fire still have never been as exciting as they are on this track
Arctic Monkeys - Arabella, From The Ritz to the Rubble, Fluorescent Adolescent Arabella is the perfect AM song. Great g-funk vibes and some of Turners best lyrics. Tthe latter two gave me hope for indie rock in the mid 00s
The Avalanches - Since I Left You Pretty much all of it since it is one long mix. Never knew electronic music could be so organic and melodic
Beach House - Walk in the Park, Lover of Mine, Gila Three of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Walk in the Park nails the frosty isolated vibe perfectly.
The Beatles - Day in the Life, Dear Prudence, Tomorrow Never Knows, In My Life Could put more Beatles tunes on here but I grew up with them.
Best Coast - Crazy For You Who knew a few guitar chords and simple pop melody could still sound so fresh
Bob Marley - Lively Up Yourself, Natural Mystic, So Jah Seh Smoke and listen to these underrated Bob tracks
Broken Social Scene - KC Accidental, Anthems for a Seventeen-Year-Old Girl The first song sounds like proper rock n roll in 21st century. Anthems for a Seventeen Year Old Girl is one of the most beautiful songs ever. An excellent build up.
Cat Power - Colors and the Kids One of the top 5 most emotional songs for me. Simply heartbreaking. Not many people can make their voice and 2 piano chords sound this good, but Chan is really talented.

Parker's music fits that description too, but BSS was making music when Parker was in high school. You Forgot It In The People is 13 years old and still sounds fresh and forward thinking. In fact Parker is probably influenced by BSS because their music both share that wall of sound with regard to melodic instruments and compression on the percussion.

This is my first touch with this band and song and my first thought was, Kevin, Kevin, you bastard

Both are incredible bands two of my favorites from the 00's. Tame Impala is a bit more melodic and a bit more straight up psychedelic rock. BSS is more experimental. There's elements of jazz, baroque pop and I think that BSS hits harder as a band.

Live Forever (Oasis) - The song that hooked me into Oasis forever. Enough said.
Smells Like Teen Spirit (Nirvana) - It's amazing how much this songs transcended cultural and age barriers in the US between 1991-1993. First CD I ever got was Nevermind. It was such a unique time. A kid in 5th grade was just as likely to own this record as a kid in college was. Kurt had a touch of magic.
Yellow (Coldplay) - Downloaded this on a late night during the summer of 2000. Wish Oasis wrote it. Timeless classic and so simple.
Staralfur (Sigur Ros) - Heard this my freshman year of college in the spring of 2001. Blew my mind and still does today.
Neighborhood #1 (Arcade Fire) - The first AF song I ever heard and it captured thoughts I had for years prior. Are Win and I lost brothers?
Everything In It's Right Place (Radiohead) - One of the best headphone songs ever. A million little pieces going on at all times. Plus no guitars? Wild.
Bitter Sweet Symphony (The Verve) - I was hooked the first time I heard those intro strings. You're a genius Richard!!!!
Tonight Tonight (The Smashing Pumpkins) - Speaking of strings....this song just oozes with excitement and epic grand scale. My all-time favorite Pumpkins song.
There Goes The Fear (Doves) - It sounds like a musical African Safari. My summer tune of 2002.
I'm The Man Who Loves You (Wilco) - It sounds like the most Revolver-esque song not recorded by The Beatles.
Nothingman (Pearl Jam) - A sad ballad with some of the best vocals Eddie has ever put on record. Amazing live tune as well.
God Moving Over The Face of Water (Moby) - First heard this on Christmas Day 1995. My family went to see the movie Heat and this was played at the very end. Chilling.
The Rat (The Walkmen) - This song sounds like it is getting shot out of a cannon on steroids. One of the BEST indie anthems of all-time. Download it now.

So Many songs and probably far too much to mention but here it goes...
Oasis- Live Forever still the greatest thing Noel's ever written and I don' think a British Band or any band anywhere has come close to it, even Noel.
Oasis- Slide Away A Oasis song that could bring you to tears, Liam's greatest Vocal before he went all shouty.
Oasis- Rock N Roll Star Greatest opening song to a album ever, and the greatest statement of intent you ever likely to hear.
Blur- This is a Low the Masterpiece on the glorious Parklife, brilliant lyrics from Albarn but Coxon guitar playing is out o this world.
Blur- Beetlebum That Guitar opening and probably Blur's greatest ever song
The Strokes- Hard To Explain The song that really won me over, I still think it's their greatest song on a perfect Debut album.
The Strokes- Reptilla That Guitar break is awesome and the song is centre piece on a underrated second album.
Arctic Monkeys- I bet that you Look Good on the Dancefloor Arctic Monkeys- A Certain Romance Arctic Monkeys- Crying Lighting Arctic Monkeys- Do you wanna Know Arctic Monkeys- Arabella My favourite band of the last 15 years just keep on blowing me away.
Arcade Fire- Wake Up Not a big Fire fan but this song is still the best thing they done.
The Verve- Sonnet, Space and Time, Bittersweet Symphony You could pick anything from Urban Hymns but these three always blow me away
Ash- Shining Light Underrated band but still this is one of the best singles from 00's

It's called "Do I wanna know". Thought you'd like to know that when talking about a song that blew you away you know, by your favourite band and all.

Dosed - Red Hot Chili Peppers As a big time Chili Peppers fan, not only am I extremely glad there's one more RHCP fan on this forum, but I must agree with you on this one. The layering with the guitars & piano on it, and just the certain beautiful melancholy in the song is pure magic imo. It's definitely up there with Wet Sand and Sir Psycho Sexy as far as best RHCP songs go.
