When Radiohead hit the studio/road, it's like the varsity football team taking the field.

When Radiohead hit the studio/road, it's like the varsity football team taking the field. True but their last album was like Brazil losing 7-1. So much great history with regards to Radiohead's work but my lord there's only 3 great songs on King of Limbs. 1 good one maaaaybe 2, and the rest are pretty forgettable. Coming off of In Rainbows, which is my second favorite album of theirs hearing King of Limbs was just disappointing. 4 years for that? Luckily enough they're Radiohead and they almost always respond with a great album. I'm expecting something good but they can easily turn out something great. Always excited to see what they do next. This time I just hope the music has a little more excitement and life to it.

I actually like a lot of tracks off The King of Limbs. - Bloom - Morning Mr. Magpie - Lotus Flower - Codex - Separater Combine that with the non LP singles of Supercollider, The Daily Mail and Staircase, Radiohead are still at the top of their game. Radiohead also played 5-6 unreleased songs on their TKOL tour, they were fantastic and I hope many of them land on their next album. Songs like Identikit and Skirting On The Surface particularly.

I'm ok with a duo.

I disagree with the people saying Radiohead got better while Oasis got worse.
Radioheads albums in the 00's are really annoying and noting but a bunch of unnecessary noise.
Their 90's albums though>>>>>>
But yeah, Oasis ftw

Those four are keepers but the rest are a mixed bag of pretty but boring (Give up the Ghost), merely "ok" (little by little, Morning Mr. Magpie) and failed experiments (Feral). I agree with what your saying about the non LP tracks. The Daily Mail is one of their best songs not only of this period but overall. Skirting On The Surface and Identikit show promise but I'll wait to hear their studio versions first before making any judgements.

They tended to push the non LP singles more. Just like bands in the 1960s did.

Oasis for me. Radiohead bore me. I do like some songs on The Bends and OK Counter though.
My girlfriend is a huge Radiohead fan but in the 3 years we have been together she listens to Oasis more. Whenever we drive somewhere and take her car she always has Definitely Maybe in the CD player. Her favourite song is Columbia.

A handful of attendees at the Leopallooza music festival in Cornwall, England got a surprise on Saturday night when Radiohead's Thom Yorke played an unannounced DJ set, according to the London Evening Standard (via NME). Apparently, Yorke went on just around 2:30 a.m., playing to just eight people—some of whom had no idea they were watching the singer of one of the world's biggest bands. The Evening Standard quotes one onlooker as saying, "He’s probably the most influential artist of the past decade and here he is prepping to play to half a dozen drunk hippies." Even better, Yorke was apparently pushed into dancing with some of them. Too bad no one was sober enough to take a Vine. It probably looked something like the video for "Lotus Flower", though. pitchfork.com/news/56158-radioheads-thom-yorke-plays-unannounced-dj-set-for-eight-people/

"King of Limps" with its 8 track lenght, was somehow a "let down".Definitely a very good album but not what you expect to hear from an official radiohead album.imo, it turns to a great release if you add the post KOL of the same period tracks "Supercollider", "The Butcher", "The Daily Mail" and "Staircase".and then a 7 or a 7,5 verdict turns to an 8,5... i cant wait for their new album

I actually think it's pretty interesting to read over - bar the "Radiohead are shite"-style-comments. I actually think Kalas got it right - they're just too different to compare sensibly. Both are/were great at what they do - be it anthemic, empowering rock 'n' roll, or paranoia-driven experimental rock. I prefer Radiohead, but I love Oasis too - today I was in an Oasis mood and listened to Be Here Now, but tomorrow I might be in a Radiohead mood and listen to OK Computer or The King of Limbs. Ultimately, I'm just glad we have both. ( matt , do you still think OK Computer is the most overrated album ever? It's probably my favourite rock album of all time...) There really isn't anything overrated about OK Computer. They pushed the boundaries in what was possible at the time in the studio and the songs transcended very well live. The anti-Radiohead comments are what I was saying about embarrassing - the majority of people were parading their reasons for Oasis crapping over Radiohead, because of the same exact things people do with Oasis fans. Oasis and Radiohead were never the same bands at any point. Oasis by BHN had gotten attached to the lad-rock stigma. Liam belting out anthems for the next 10 years while Noel provided his own guitar licks in new versions of the classics. The tracklists became hit and miss, and they struggled getting DBTT finished properly, while their gigs were just greatest hits with a few new ones. Radiohead on the other hand, just kept evolving their sound and style. The jump of sound between The Bends, to OK Computer and then Kid A/Amnesiac is immense, at a Beatles-like pace. I love Oasis and have listened to the entirety of their catalogue, and while I'm still getting into Radiohead more I'm really liking everything I've heard so far, compared to Oasis' flubs. Also it's like everyone who was saying Radiohead is crap thinks they only wrote Creep - huh? The Escapist, would you think this top 10 list is good for people who haven't heard the majority of their early work? - High And Dry - Planet Telex - Street Spirit - Black Star - Blow Out - (Nice Dream) - Fake Plastic Trees - Let Down - No Surprises - Lucky Those ones I think are the least out there, pre-Kid A.

Exit Music (For a Film) 7. Let Down 8. Street Spirit (Fade Out) 9. Lucky 10. The Tourist
