Yep agree with that, 1994-98 they were pretty even. The only thing which puts Oasis slightly ahead for me was the b-sides although Radiohead also had their fair share of decent flipsides; Talk Show Host, Polyethylene pt 1&2 etc On a side note although I really like both Kid A and Amnesiac I always wonder what a phenomenal album it would have been as a joint album as they were recorded at the same time; I imagine something like the below would probably be their best album 1.Everything In It's Right Place 2.Pyramid Song 3.The National Anthem, 4.How to Disappear Completely 5.You and Whose Army? 6.I Might Be Wrong, 7.Knives Out, 8.Idioteque 9.Like Spinning Plates (more like the piano driven live version) 10.Life in a Glasshouse 11.Motion Picture Soundtrack Don't know if it would flow as well but I'd certainly enjoy it I already think Kid A is their best album without combining anything. I think Radiohead did a terrific job of filtering out tunes that wouldn't fit on Kid A. The stuff on Amnesiac has a different vibe. Both albums are so well calculated. I know it took the bands months of laboring to get it just right. Plus would you really want a Radiohead album to end of a run of 3 piano led tunes? Ok Computer is their finest album in my opinion, As I say I like them both a lot and already mentioned my hybrid album wouldn't perhaps flow very well (I didn't really think much about the tracklisting, maybe stick Spinning Plates in the 'Treefingers' middle part) but I just thought that tracks such as Dollars and Cents, both versions of Morning Bell and In Limbo weren't quite as strong as the others and I have to skip Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors and Kid A when they come on my Ipod so taking them out of the equation from that era and combining the rest you've got a stunning 50 mins or so album

I like the Bends, but Ok Computer will always remain my favorite Radiohead album. It's the one that really converted me to them.
The scope and the idea of it is amazing. The songs on it have higher aims and it was them at their peak. Just the right bit of rock, just the right bit of experimenting without doing a Kid A, and just the right bit of pop-hooks. It was the medium between the masses and the critical, while being highly introspective. Which is incredibly difficult. A far more difficult aim than the Bends. Based on that alone it would be superior.
I may pull some songs off the Bends to listen to every now and again, but once I begin Ok Computer I have to listen to the entire album. As an actual album, with one song having a conversation with the other, one improving the other, acting as a canvas to create a singular image, Ok Computer is far superior than the Bends. I can't in good conscience call it overrated. Far from it.
An album with the breath of material as Let Down, Karma Police, Lucky, Airbag, Climbing Up the Walls, Paranoid Android, and Exit Music (For a Film) could never be considered overrated. I just named over half the album being tops songs. Songs that ANY band would kill for now. That's ignoring the rest of the material on the album. No, Ok Computer deserves it's place as one of the best albums of the 90's. If not for the aims of it, if not for the singular vision of it, if not for the landscape of sound, then for the quality of songs themselves. It's a brilliant album.

Wow. best show I've ever seen by some distance. Thanks.

By my count, Radiohead have 4 classic albums. - The Bends - Ok Computer - Kid A - In RainbowsAn absolute stellar career and is still on going with the same original lineup. One of the Cal Ripkens of rock I suppose.

I like how all the band members have side projects/solo albums and it doesn't ruffle anyones feathers. I think for a band this old that kind of stuff keeps things fresh and healthy.

Radiohead could put out one bitching b-sides album if they ever wanted to. They probably won't. They just don't care. 1. The Trickster 2. Lewis (Mistreated) 3. Permanent Daylight 4. Killer Cars 5. Talk Show Host 6. Polyethylene Parts 1 & 2 7. Meeting In The Isle 8. Lull 9. Palo Alto 10. The Amazing Sounds of Orgy 11. Fog 12. Cuttooth 13. Gagging Order 14. I Am A Wicked Child 15. The Butcher

The Bends is nothing but roaring guitars. Combine that with Trickster, Lewis (Mistreated), Killer Cars and Polyethylene. Great band.

Radiohead have 4 classic albums. - The Bends - Ok Computer - Kid A - In RainbowsCompletely agree. Those four are consistently listed in all time great record lists. I don't have a problem with anyone choosing any of those four as their favorite Radiohead album. The Bends was my favorite until In Rainbows was released but I now find my self gravitating to Kid A the most. Oasis had two "classic" albums but should have had four. BHN should have been. I think it contains some of Noels best songs but because of the lack of editing it doesn't compare to their first two albums. He had another great album in him but because I believe he wanted all the singles to chart he loaded them with some of his best songs. If they weren't released as bsides The Masterplan could've been another classic. Radiohead is the better band but Noel is the better songwriter. There isn't a Radiohead song that makes me feel like one of Noel's sing a long choruses. If I had to pick between the two who'd I want to see live Radiohead would win hands down but if I could only listen to one of their albums I'd pick an Oasis one.

Oasis are still better than radiohead, they'll always be better.
Definitely maybe beats all their depressing albums put together.

A truly great album. Think of that run the band made between 1995 and 2000. - The Bends - Ok Computer - Kid AFew bands ever reach such heights.

Which is not true at all. That was my lone point. I used critics, record sales and touring trends to justify my point.

The bend's though songbird11, I love Definitely maybe but The Bends has as many anthems on that as DM as. Not all of their albums are depressing. No Radiohead piss all over Oasis, they reinvented themselves and went on to make great album after great album, so don't be silly. Oasis churned out the same album with lesser degrees of success.

Didn't Ok computer and a few other's get to Number 1 in the States, Coldplay pisses over both of them when it comes to sales alone in the States, they are the biggest British band to break the states since Led Zep it's fair to say.

I believe the only USA #1's were Kid A and In Rainbows. Ok Computer peaked at #21 vs Be Here Now landing at #2. The difference being Ok Computer doubling BHN in overall sales. And yes, Coldplay has had the USA success I dreamed Oasis continuing to have in America in the mid 90s and beyond. Sadly it was not to be.

That's the key right there that Radiohead kept making great album after great album and doing it throughout their entire career where as Oasis was front loaded. Another cool aspect of Radiohead is the original lineup from 1993 are all still in Radiohead in 2014.

Coldplay and Radiohead both have more airplay and greater success here simply because as I have said a thousand times over ad nauseum , they played the game here , OASIS did not ....over here if you don't play the game you don't get played ( much like payola in the 70 s ) that's why during DBTT promi tour a well known ny DJ interviewing Noel stated " good your back together after all these years " Noel sorta chuckled .....Coldplay plays game perfect and they get TV shows to promote ghost stories , Oasis simply weren't that phony ,and they didn't care . Why I love em

Coldplay plays the game and they play it very well but how does Radiohead play the game? They don't really release music videos. They barely do any on camera interviews and print interviews are few and far between compared to most bands when promoting an album. Shit.....Kid A had no singles and still went #1 in USA and UK. If you watch their documentary Meeting People Is Easy you will realize that Thom avoids the spotlight whenever possible.
