Any indication when these guys will drop the next album? And by dropped, I mean unexpectedly released. They don't do things conventionally these days.

Thom just got done touring with Atoms For Peace is now on an extended break. No way the band is recording anytime soon. I was really disappointed they didn't release third sessions with Jack White at Third Man Studios in June 2012. They recorded two songs, was thinking a double A-side single. No dice.

I'd imagine we'll have to wait until next year for the new album, but you never know when radiohead will surprise you! Can't wait for the new album though, if it's anything like King of Limbs I'll be happy as I really enjoyed it.

Can't wait for the new album though, if it's anything like King of Limbs I'll be happy as I really enjoyed it. That's one of the many great things about Radiohead, they can strike with deadly precision at any time. Their last two albums came completely out of the blue. You wake up one morning to discover an entire album posted online without even knowing they were recording one. Wild stuff.

I think that there are ok but they didnt wrote a decent tune for years. Yeah right, they are experimental and art band now and they are to cool to have classical tunes made on guitar or piano. They can write Karma Police everyday but they are too cool for that. Strawberry Fields Forever is more experimental than everything Radiohead ever did. And it is still great melody, you can play it on acoustic guitar and it is still amazing. I know that Radiohead fans see my comment as typical from stupid Gallagher fan i that i am too stupid to understand but what i wrote is nothing but the truth. So many shit and averag. tunes called brilliant because they are,, experimental''. I dont blame Radiohead, they are just doing what they like and what they think that is best, i hope that they enjoy. I just hate fans of Radiohead. They think that they are above everyone and everyone who thinks that Radiohead is not that good is just stupid to understand their music. And they are so smart. I've never had any illusions about Oasis music. I know what it means to me and i also see why some people dont like them. I know what is great about them and what is not. But most of Radiohead fans are just depressing idiots, geeks and quasi intellectuals.

The Bends was released 19 years ago today. God bless. Still their most enjoyable album for me. In Rainbows isn't far behind. Planet Telex one of the best album openers. Radiohead when they could rock your fuckin face off. Looking to see what they do next i thought The King of Limbs was their second weakest album. Mundane.

I'm not Radiohead's greatest fan but the Bends and Ok Computer are the bomb, I wouldn't disagree with you when you say The Bends might be better then Morning glory. Every big Radiohead song is on that album, Ok Computer is on a different planet but I don't think it's the greatest album of all time as many Rock critic's would hold it up as. For me Nirvana, Oasis and Radiohead were the bands of the 90's.
After that I'm not too crazy on Kid A, The King of Limbs, Amnesiac or Hail to the thief as many are. In Rainbows was a excellent album though.

I love the fact the OP asked on A Oasis forum to say which band do they prefer between Oasis and Radiohead. Oasis come out 95% says it all really.

It is probably on the same level of MG in terms of quality but I love MG more. Both start and end excellently. MG's hugeness just lifts it for me but The Bends really isn't all that far behind though. I mean its about as close has it gets in terms of which one is better. Also if you're talking about the best and most influential 90's bands you have to put Pavement in the mix. They were probably the best band in the 90's with 3 absolute classics and 2 great albums. Ok Computer is a great album but its overrated by critics, probably because of the cultural contexts within the album. The Bends and In Rainbows are better albums in terms of just the songs on them. Kid A is more interesting. Hail to the Thief and Amnesiac are spotty in places but they are decent enough. It'll be interesting to see how their next album is. They are one of the greatest bands around but they aren't as consistently great as one would think, on an album to album basis. They've cranked out 4 really really special albums, which is super impressive and that is why I think they've got the reputation that they have currently, along with the fact that they are willing to try new things.

I think OK Computer is probably the most overrated album of all time - The Bends and Kid A are far superior. Can't help think that the media jumped on them only because the Britpop ship was sinking so they had to go to another band. The high brow pseudo-intelletual sections of the press also continually blow smoke up their arses which is an annoyance and gives me the perception of them being overrated.
I've never thought of them as one of the greatest acts of all time - main issue is the frontman, I think Thom Yorke is a poor mans Michael Stipe who is utterly bereft of anything interesting and over does the 'enigmatic frontman' act which merely comes off as overtly pretentious. But he can sing and the band themselves are great - I don't know many bands with more talented musicians.
Call me old fashion, but it's their more conventionally structured tunes that do it for me - hence my appreciation for The Bends. For example, Codex is by far the best song on King of Limbs which, at best, is a bang average album. And, again, Pyramid Song is the best on Amnesiac for me - it's a trend for me as you can see. Which makes my great appreciation of Kid A more remarkable I suppose - but I'm a fan of ambient, moody electronica influenced music the likes of which Mike Oldfield, Brian Eno, Jon Hopkins have all dabbled in - but one of the most stripped back songs on that album How To Disappear Completely is the ultimate highlight for me still.

Everyone talks about Nirvana being the best band of the 90's or whatever, but they weren't even the best American band in the 90's. Pavement's influence is heard all over indie rock these days. I wouldn't say they are the 90's Velvet Underground but damn they did redefine rock in a lot of ways even if they took some stuff from the Fall.

If social media like Twitter and Facebook existed along with Pitchfork back then, Pavement would have been massive. I was far too young to catch Pavement live in their prime (mid 90s I was only 13-15 years old) but I did catch them in NYC in September 2010. They were outrageously great. Sounded amazing, better than the records and all these guys were in their mid to late 40s. Astonishing really.

Big fan of both to be honest and not really comparable;
Radiohead are far more consistant and when you compare their albums (in the way the OP has done) maybe only DM beats the counterpart album. I actually prefer SOTSOG to Kid A but only just, as for the OP's opinion that DOYS is better that In Rainbows that's just wrong.
With that said I didn't care much for King of Limbs but apart from that I like all of their albums
With that said I still much prefer Oasis

Let's just say that between 1994-1998, Pablo Honey, Definitely Maybe, The Bends, Morning Glory, Be Here Now and Ok Computer are a push. The years between 2000 and 2009 decide it all. Oasis never again produced a truly great album. Lots of hits and misses. Radiohead went on to make Kid A, Amnesiac, Hail To The Thief and In Rainbows. All better albums than what Oasis had released in the same time period. Not only that, but Radiohead were still revered globally as a creative and touring force. Sadly Oasis got into the papers for fights.

The only thing which puts Oasis slightly ahead for me was the b-sides although Radiohead also had their fair share of decent flipsides; Talk Show Host, Polyethylene pt 1&2 etc On a side note although I really like both Kid A and Amnesiac I always wonder what a phenomenal album it would have been as a joint album as they were recorded at the same time; I imagine something like the below would probably be their best album 1.Everything In It's Right Place 2.Pyramid Song 3.The National Anthem, 4.How to Disappear Completely 5.You and Whose Army? 6.I Might Be Wrong, 7.Knives Out, 8.Idioteque 9.Like Spinning Plates (more like the piano driven live version) 10.Life in a Glasshouse 11.Motion Picture Soundtrack Don't know if it would flow as well but I'd certainly enjoy it

I think Radiohead did a terrific job of filtering out tunes that wouldn't fit on Kid A. The stuff on Amnesiac has a different vibe. Both albums are so well calculated. I know it took the bands months of laboring to get it just right. Plus would you really want a Radiohead album to end of a run of 3 piano led tunes?
