Hehe, touche. But the point is now moot haha just messing around, but I do like "The Dying of the Light"! No worries, I knew what you meant Hmm, can't think of what the fourth song might be. Maybe he's counting Freaky Teeth even though it's on the other album...or maybe he's putting a more traditional recording on the next HFB one.

I don't think Noel is referencing Freaky Teeth since it is on the AA and been played many many times on TV broadcasts and radio since October. He knows that song is floating around and people are eating it up. Most likely he means God Help Us All, The Dying of the Light and Bye Bye My Family (Or whatever it will be called). Revolution Song has been bootlegged since 2000 and he knows about that too. Not sure what the 4th song is though. Anymore soundcheck clips we know about? There is that short clip of Let It Come Down Over Me from the Mexico City soundcheck.

This is probably madness, but what if he means AOTR?

This is probably madness, but what if he means AOTR? Alone On The Rope.

Alone On the Rope has had an official release on Amazon so I really don't think it is that. I think it must be Don't Stop The Happening / Being Happy or Revolution Song which Noel was supposedly working on again according to the NME not so long ago.

Yeah, it's possible, but Noel knows that Alone on the Rope is on the web, and until now he didn't make any pronouncement about it. No one knows from where and why Alone on the Rope came, but that song seems to be finished, and I'm very curious about the destiny of this song.

What do you mean, no-one knows? I bought it on the amazon.com deluxe edition. Seems pretty official to me. It was from the US store too. I don't think that was accidental.

Maybe Noel planned to use it for a deluxe release on Amazon but changed his mind and decided to save it for the next album. The other bonus track, ASGOG, has popped up elsewhere, but as far as I know AOTR has only been on Amazon releases - maybe he had to honor an agreement with them but still didn't want to acknowledge it as an official release yet.

A really shame. I can't believe Alone on the Rope will stay just in Amazon. I have much expectations of the next album, it MUST be in there.

He should have put it on Songs from the Great White North. That would've been great.

Came across this earlier, nothing exciting but thought it was interesting anyway. Was importing The Boo Radleys' (Creation labelmates of Oasis) album C'Mon Kids onto my computer earlier and on the inlay was a quote from someone called Dylan Thomas, who I think is a poet? Anyway it was "rage, rage against the Dying of the Light", so obviously the song came to mind. Find it hard to imagine Noel being big on poetry so began to wonder if he got the title off the Boo Radleys and consequently how old the song is. Almost certainly reading too much into this and apologies if this has been brought up before!

Can't hear it very well, but it kinda sounds like "Light of the Day" by Kula Shaker.

I'm late to the party on this one but, DAMN! Dying of the Light is *awesome*!
Totally Noel, great melodies, nice sections.
Reminded me of Thrasher by Neil Young, especially:
"I woke up sleeping on a train that was bound for nowhere, the echoes that I could hear were all my own, the world had turned and I'd become a stranger, got tired of watching all the flowers turn to stone."
The Chief has well and truely got his mojo back!
