No, they aren't. There is no interesting band in the world, rock n roll is dying. All the bands now are indie/pop/alternative crap. Oasis were also 'inde/pop/alternative crap' then?

I think that's just a natural evolution of music. What we know as 'Alternative Rock' was alternative in the 90's but has become mainstream now. So that is the rock music of today. I don't really know what you mean by no true rock bands because there are a good numbers of rock groups out there that make some quality music.

I find the Arctic Monkey's pretty tedious.
Not knocking anyone who's into them but they mean nothing to me.

My current favourites would be Tame Impala, Arcade Fire, Stereophonics, Jake Bugg, Lana Del Rey and Gabrielle Aplin. Arctic Monkeys are good but they're not the best, for me at least. I kinda like Lana Del Rey. Not sure I should admit that here.

Must be Arcade Fire since 3,4 years after Neon Bible. I'm also getting myself more and more into bands like Mumfords and Black Keys lately.
Saw Arctics live last weekend on 06.07 and they were nice, played all their hits, but its not my cup of tea.

I'm alaways confused by threads like this what is the cutoff point for current ? @epiphone100 I know your kidding ,but you can admit anything , hell I've said many times I love some abba , journey , and I grew up with power pop sometimes I hear shit in the gym and I'm like still love it , ill lose my card carrying rocker membership but I don't give a rats ass I love a few go go 's tunes anytime I hear" we got the beat " I flashback to seeing fast times at ridgemont high in the movies 3 bucks to get in "our lips are sealed " if you had a girl in your car it had to cranked up ,like being in the mall on a Saturday certain tunes just have to be heard ...to me go go's are fit that , so I'm sure your fits you as well man .

Tame Impala.
Other top bands right now besides Arctic Monkeys are the Black Keys and Queens of the Stone Age.
I'll also say Arcade Fire if album #4 lives up to the hype.

The 'current' bands that I really like are probably Arctic Monkeys, The Vaccines, The Black Keys, Kasabian, We Are Augustines, The Gaslight Anthem, Spector, Biffy Clyro and The Courteeners. Btw, Jake Bugg's pretty shit... Frank Turner > Jake Bugg He's a young guy and I'm willing to give him a chance, but you are spot on. He's got nothing on Frank Turner. It amazes me what an image can do for a career. Whether it's the nice guy pleasantries of nice guy sounding songs like Ed Sheeran, or the 'rebel without a cause' style of Jake Bugg, it all sounds the same to me - i.e. nothing special. Frank Turner, just an ordinary guy, writes tunes of much higher quality in my opinion yet receives no attention.

I'm really curious about Jake Bugg's future, seeing as most of his debut was co-written with a professional.

And he writes music for teenage girls so it's no surprise that he is selling millions of records.

I have to admit I'm really really struggling to think of a "new" band that I enjoy listening to........Arctics I think are probably the best around though I personally don't really like them (apart from don't sit down I've moved your chair), Kasabian have never done it for me either really. I listen to XFM now and then and they play a few new bands, all of which I find pretty bland.
Even Jake Bugg, boring and over rated - Miles Kane 1st album I really loved but I've gone off him as well.
Most of the bands I enjoy now are the Bands I see over in Liverpool for Acoustic nights etc, they have attitude, raw and something to say but they aren't gonna be signed as record companies won't take a gamble on anyone really with a personality these days. so I still champion new music but just don't find anything really appealing in the mainstream....

Bit of a strange comparision, since ones only a kid and the other's a 30 year old bloke. Here's one for you, Alex > Frank
