Post your first impressions here...
Mine: the worst thing about the album is that the songs you already knew in one way or another (that is RM, STC, TDOYAM, IIHAG, EOTR) are the best, by far. But as you noticed, that is already half an album that's absolutely brilliant. Further, I really like WAL, it's just not as good as the other 5. The other 4 tracks were a bit underwhelming tbf, even though I even liked those, just wasn't really blown away by them. I think DO and BA will grow on me, the other 2 aren't bad, but I don't think I will adore them one day. DO and BA have that potential.
Anyway, this was my first listen, a lot can change...
Ow yeah, and it sounds really polished. At some places, it fits and it's sheer brilliance, at some places I thought... Maybe less is more?
Edit: after a Second listen, there you have it already; I'm really starting to like DO and BA, even SOTWB, even though they're inferior to the "big 5" (yeah I'm including TDOYAM, I really like that tune)
The same would go for SB&JF, but the "on and on we go" reminds me of a song from the 90's, so that kinda bothers me.
Other than that, class album, can't wait how he's going to pull it off live =D

EOTR is amazing, I like the rest of the album as well, not dissappointed by any songs at all

on first listen, without the songs we've already heard i gave it a 6.5, dream on is definitely my least favourite so far. EOTR is great!!!

The Everybody's on the run cover(studio) was better.

aside from what a life, the album is awesome. except admittedly, what a life is growing on me. Everybodys on the run reminded me of a much much better version of boy with the blues.
im a happy bloke after the first listen

Love EOTR, but can't help but imagine what it would of sounded like with Liam on the vocals. First listen I love it, going give it a second run now. Just wish at the end of STC he didn't do the 'sound sound sound' part, I was hoping that was going to be removed.

Agree with the above, Everybodys on the run is great but its sad thinking how it could have been with Liam. But still an amazing song.
First listen and i'm loving it as it obviously sounds new and fresh. The ones i know already like Record Machine and Stop the clocks sound great, like theyve had a fresh lick of paint.
Dream on is superb, Soldier Boys will need a few listens. Stranded on the wrong beach and Broken Arrow i'm enjoying. At this moment in time no terrible songs for me.
But what an exciting night ! Top marks to the person who mentions that german streaming site. And thank god no more trolls. If anything its funny reading Robohump and other trolls struggling to get copies, payback

I'm on Record Machine right now. Everything's so amazing. And Noel sounds so much better than modern Liam. Don't know what everyone's talking about. Obviously 1994-1997 Liam is something special, but Everybody's On The Run (for example) is just amazing and somewhat of a surprise, given the amount of grit Noel sings with.

Really like it. Like all the little quirky bits - the odd trumpet here and there etc.
The only bit I've not liked so far is the choir on RM. I like the strings but I'm not overly fussed by the choir.

Noel's voice SBAJF is great. And I really like the song overall too. It's not what I was expecting at all.

Everybody´s on the run... wow ... I am surprised with the power of his voice...I was probably expecting somtehing closer to that soundcheck recording, but this is massive, colossal, strong... Probably Noel´s best first track since D´you know what I mean....

Lyrically, this is definitely Noel's best album. No 'supersonic/gin and tonic' and 'lasagna' gaffs here.

I'm so glad I avoided the 30sec clips this time. I had a much better first listening experience than with DOYS or DGSS...

Oh, wow, Soldier Boys really does sound like The Kinks. Noel's even adopting a bit of a Ray Davies laziness in his voice.

I like every song on this album. I've never been able to honestly say that about an album after the first two listens, but I honestly like all the songs on this album. They all have something different to offer. The Chief really pulled it off.

Noel should win an award for Everybody's On The Run.
Dream On was a bit of a letdown to me at first, but it's growing on me.
If I Had A Gun... is still a good tune, but I think it's a bit overshadowed by other great songs on the album, which isn't really a bad thing... It's the same situation with Hey Now! being surrounded by greatness from Morning Glory, IMO.
The Death of You And Me is a solid tune, but it's just not my kind of style.
Record Machine is fantastic. I miss the original bass line from the demo, but other than that, it has improved in every possible way.
What A Life! is definitely the 'Falling Down' of the album. Though not as good as Falling Down, it's still has a nice riff to get lost in.
Soldier Boys and Jesus Freaks really surprised me. It was my least favorite based on the preview clip, but now it's one of my favorites off the album.
Broken Arrow is just plain fun. I really enjoyed my first listen of this.
The Wrong Beach is interesting like WAL, but better IMO. It's really groovy, and I love Noel's vocals on this.
Stop The Clocks is everything I hoped it would be. So beautiful and touching... You can really feel as if everything is rewinding back to the beginning in the outro. Love it, love it, love it! Great way to end a wonderful album.

I like all songs in the album. I know I will listen to EOTR, IIHAG and TDOYAM for many years to come. And I would not be surprised if Dream On was added to that list in a few days. Remaining songs all are good. My least favourite is STC. It has improved from the demo but I still don't fully get it.
About Liam's voice, I think he would made Dream On even better, but EOTR is so perfect as it is that I would not change anything

best album i have heard in quite some time. absolutely amazed by EOTR, my jaw nearly hit the floor. nearly to the point of shedding a few tears on that one.
love the rest as well. really enjoy the production on stop the clocks...actually all of it.

Stop The Clocks is better than I ever thought it could be. I just listened to it for the first time and just stopped doing everything and just stared into space as it played. I didn't want it to end. What a fucking album.

I love Broken Arrow. Love the weird choir and mellotron sounds.
Which song has the bottles?!
