Still think this won't appeal to fans outside the Oasis die hards like ourselves. Can't imagine being at a party when someone fires this on. Well, no...it's not that type of song. How many parties have you been to where someone fires up Imagine? Some of the greatest songs ever written aren't party songs. this is it... thanks for saying what i was thinking

Fair enough--but calling this a song that Noel "could write in his sleep" is just overly dismissive and snide, though.
Regardless of what you think of IIHAG, it's clear Noel put significant effort into this album. This is not some tossed off song that he put on a tape recorder and said "that'll do", which is what you are implying. According to Noel, this is his best foot forward.

Jesus christ... Acronyms getting out of hand, laugh out loud. I always have a hard time with that one. I always just assume af an accronym is that long that they are talking about Who Put the Weight of the World on My Shoulders. LOL

IIHAG is one of the best songs I've ever heard. One of the best he's ever written. 9.5/10 It's gonna be so close to as big as Wonderwall was. But I'll never forgive him for changing "Forgive me" into "Excuse me"

i will say that falling down is a much better tune. Indeed it is To each his own and all that, but you're both wrong. Falling Down sounds kind of flat. Good song, but not a true classic like IIHAG

Unbelievable song. I can't find it in my heart to be negative when this song just touches me so greatly.

Apart from what I wrote in the other thread, IIHAG fails to reach a climax at some point. It's a bit flat in the delivery and doesn't build up into something really anthemic. The production is not "poor", but could've been much much better.
However, the song itself is top notch.
After the initial "Oh-My-God-That's-A-New-Noel's-Tune" excitement, still 7/10 for me.

I think the song has a climax at the "we will live to fight another day" point. It's anthemic enough.

I would say not the most original or complicated song.. but it's one that could easily steal your heart because so emotional.. Very Good!

Think I preferred the soundcheck version.
I'm going to get absolutely lambasted for this, but it sounds like a massively improved version of Force of Nature to me. It's not bad by any means in finished form, it just seems to have lost a bit of its haunting quality, I don't know, it just doesn't sound right as an "epic" imo.
Gutted as I thought this was going to be his best song since like '95 or something.
7/10

I just listened to The Death Of You And Me and noticed how DIFFERENT the production is. It's as If I Had A Gun this song was tailored especially for modern american radio, with DOYAM sounding like some old-town western piano-bar radio thing (which is better for me, production wise.)
Don't get me wrong, I love both songs, and I'm sure I 'll love more off the album, but I'm starting to worry that the album's overall production will sound scattered.
Edit: Although there is Everybody's On The Run, which is coherent with DOYAM, and Record Machine which likewise fits along IIHAG. I just that the other songs will be able to "blend the album together", if you know catch what i'm saying

It may just sound like a disk with a bunch of great songs, but not an "album" that has its own sound.

The concept of a coherent album with a similar tone is nice, but it's a bit lost nowadays. People just tend to add the songs they like to their I-pod. More important to just have a good collection of songs that catch people's fancy than try and meld a unified production.

Haven't listened to this yet but I will as soon as I'm home from work. I must say I'm glad I didn't listen to the soundcheck as much as others, must of only listened to it about 3-4 times tops, so I haven't got attached to it.

Great tune...the magic bits...or as Super Hans would say ''oh he's done something there!"
''waiting for the moment to find me!" and then when he sings it second thing around with "...be unbroken by the sea" ...magic
Simple lyrics in the verse, but pretty powerful...some of Noel's favourite words like sun, dream, fade away and city make an appearance.
I shudder to think where I'd be if I heard this straight off without any sound check malarky.
With a decent music video this could be Huge!!
