Great tune...the magic bits...or as Super Hans would say ''oh he's done something there!" ''waiting for the moment to find me!" and then when he sings it second thing around with "...be unbroken by the sea" ...magic Simple lyrics in the verse, but pretty powerful...some of Noel's favourite words like sun, dream, fade away and city make an appearance. I shudder to think where I'd be if I heard this straight off without any sound check malarky. With a decent music video this could be Huge!! It's definitely a tune to listen to in a field at about 5 in the afternoon with a bit of overcast

The first minute I was like...OK...I don't know. I might not think this is anything special. But by the time he got to "my heart be unbroken" I was already acknowledging that I liked it. After another 2 listens, the replay and 1 on the KROC webiste I was fully on board.
It doesn't worry me that it took a few listens
This song is something special. And I am not one to like things on first listen because of hype then realise it's rubbish after it's been out a while. I'm the opposite, generally. I, invariably, never get a song fully the first time I hear it, sometimes I don't get it at all...even some of the ones that I will later love.
It's why I struggle in music stores finding new music even when they have the listening stations. LOL. I need to research before I ever step in.
It took a few listens to get the lyrics to scan properly. I kept getting hung up on the changes...particularly that first couple times. It didn't take more than 3 listens though.
I really love it, basically. There isn't much more I can say. It's a beautiful empassioned song. It defies all other description for me.
It's so basic and emotional...it's what I wanted it to be. Some people kept harping on about strings...but I didn't want them...strings can be used to portray emotion and grandeur where their is none. But when something is truly grand...it doesn't need them.
I think it could be classic. Not a rock standard or anything so grand. But a classic for all Noel Gallagher fans 20 years down the line when they look back at his career. It'll have a place of prominance if he ever gets to the point of a Best of...
I think this is going to be one of those songs that I can listen to being done again and again live with slight variation. The same as I listen to things like DLBIA, Slide Away, CNS, Wonderwall. I mean, I will have to wait a few years to see if it can keep regenerating itself and if Noel can manage to keep every preformance as fresh and relevant as the one I mentioned for an extended period of time. But half a decade later everytime I hear those songs it is like I am hearing them for the first time. I have aspirations that this song could join them on that level.
TDOYAM is more akin to TIOBI. I love TIOBI...but i have never felt the need to go and find the perfect live version. It always sounds great...but there isn't variation and their isn't a great depth of emotion. They are jaunty upbeat rock songs. They'll never reach that pinnacle place in my books and there is nothing wrong with that. There is nothing in BDI's catelogue A or B side that I will ever think about like that. I don't feel the need to go a search for that perfect rendition of FLW or TR despite thinking their both really good-great songs. Or even TBGO or Wigwam or TMS which as some common ones that others I know are gaga over.
It's special...

Easily one of his best recent songs. Difficult to say at the moment how it ranks compared to the classics, but I don't think it's that far off. The sad thing is that if this was released under the Oasis name it would probably get a lot more publicity and radio plays.

Who are you? LIB. Ha, I'm not saying I'm Errol Flynn or anything like that, but surely my username alone trumps anything that cretin has ever posted ever as far as the charming quotient is concerned. Please, don't ever do that again.

This is such a well-written, wonderful song from Noel, but I HATE the production. Sardy really dropped the ball here. The production is very stadium-rock...which I don't think suits the song at all. It should be more acoustic-based, a bit more haunting like the soundcheck.
I can't really fault Noel much though because both the melody and lyrics are heartfelt and exceptional...he did what he was supposed to do as a songwriter. This song could just be a lot better for me stripped down, and I'm sure I'll enjoy the song more live.

Definitely one of the better songs he's written in a while. I like a lot more than DGA, SYCHO, GP, etc....so this album should be special =D

seriously guys, i prefer the soundcheck version, even the soundcloud version also, this song should have been a perfect slow "ballad" with violins, strings quartet, acoustic guitars and stuff like that like wonderwall , and it turned out in a mix of "forces of nature and falling down" arrangements . the same happends with "waiting for the rapture" the demo version was awesome too much "noise " for a melodic and lovely song with emotional lyrics.sincerely i`m a bit disappointment dave sardy screwed up the song, where is owen morris!!! ? who the fuck is andy bellll!!! lol.... its still an "8" for me, but it should have been a "9" .... wait for response....cheers.

It's definitely not a great tune as some have jumped on board with.
It's good, I like the melody, but like the first single it lacks something.

if you really have that system you'll know it will sound shit, mp3s sound like tinny garbage when played though something of that caliber.

Biblical.
The structure is similar to TDOYAM when Noel sings 'Let me fly me to the moon' as opposed to 'Watching my TV or is it watching me?'

I REALLY wish the second 'ahhhh'-ahh' would've dropped like the sound check version. that's the bit i fell in love with initially.
still, 8/10.

Nice song, I think this is the direction Noel wanted to take with Oasis.

Fair enough--but calling this a song that Noel "could write in his sleep" is just overly dismissive and snide, though. Regardless of what you think of IIHAG, it's clear Noel put significant effort into this album. This is not some tossed off song that he put on a tape recorder and said "that'll do", which is what you are implying. According to Noel, this is his best foot forward. Its not dismissive, theres no doubt Noel believed in the strengh of this song its just that I don't. I know he worked hard and both songs are well written, doubt any could argue with that. But they just sound a little by numbers for me. I would never say he didn't try.

And can see why people like it, its not bad for me its just not particulary great either. Looking forward a lot more to some of the other songs judging from the reviews.

I like it, it's good, but it's kinda what I expected from Noel. I've never been too much into his ballads like this, so that's probably why I've always been more excited about the AA album.
That's just my first impression, I'd have to give it a few more spins before having a better verdict.

I have a feeling that everything will be by-the-numbers for tomlivesforever
It was his comment about TDOYAM, as well.
If you could explain what Noel's numbers are I'd appreciate it.

tomlivesforever is just one of the couple of people on here who are naturally miserable and bemoan everything that comes out no matter how good it is.
Just one of those things; I wouldn't take much notice.
